I’m Just F*cking With You (2019): April Fools’ Horror

Henrique and David continue their Into the Dark discussion with I’m Just F*cking With You (2019), Blumhouse Television’s vicious April Fools’ Day motel nightmare. Keir O’Donnell plays Larry, a bitter online troll traveling to the wedding of a woman he secretly targets through an anonymous social-media persona. A stop at the rundown Pink Motel introduces him to Chester, an aggressively friendly clerk whose endless practical jokes turn humiliation, distrust and isolation into something lethal.
Hayes MacArthur dominates the episode’s conversation as Chester, shifting from obnoxious good-time host to terrifying predator without losing his comic rhythm. Jessica McNamee plays Larry’s sister Rachel, whose arrival raises the stakes and exposes the only relationship Larry genuinely values. The hosts praise Adam Mason’s lurid colors, motel atmosphere and willingness to let all three central characters make abrasive, surprising choices rather than following the expected stranded-traveler formula.
The review traces the escalating pranks, false escapes, disabled car and Chester’s grotesque poolside celebration. Larry’s anonymous cruelty becomes essential once Chester forces him to confess to his online behavior on camera. Henrique and David especially love the final drive: Larry frames his revenge as one last joke, turns Chester’s favorite structure against him and delivers a punchline with nothing left to lose. The closing online speculation further complicates blame while suggesting that a poisonous digital persona can outlive its creator.
The hosts remember being hooked by the colorful teaser and laughing when its title was finally revealed. They argue that the film works because Chester resembles a friendly stranger until a joke fails to earn the response he demands. MacArthur’s commitment, the abrupt violence and the movie’s refusal to repeat familiar motel-horror beats make this one of their standout anthology selections. They also connect its layered fake-outs to the pleasures of Penn & Teller Get Killed.
Outside the movie, Henrique and David compare childhood pranks that produced real injuries and unpack an extended conversation about cigars, storage and lingering smoke. Those personal detours echo the film’s interest in when humor stops being harmless. Both strongly recommend I’m Just F*cking With You for fans of April Fools’ horror, psychological thrillers, toxic online culture, Blumhouse’s Into the Dark, isolated motels and dark comedy built around jokes whose consequences become brutally real.

0:00 Dude, why are you staying with us? My dad are here. You're the only one that I want to see. I guess I'm just gonna have to kind of stay with you. Then you got a problem? What? No? Hey, you do x y Z. I'm just fucking with you. I you preach Rachel. I'm away from the phone right now, but I'll call you back. Larry. I got some bad news about your sister. I hate to be the one to tell you this, man, She's not coming to me. Fu man, it doesn't even make sense that someone would call me if something happened to her.

0:45 Jesus's Chester will open it. So are you ever serious? Or I'm just a good time guy? Nobody thinks your funny. I'm gonna cut you off. Are you just fucking with me? You tell me? In a world where podcasts reign supreme, two friends dare to ask, do you even?

1:37 Movie? Hosted by filmmaker Enrique Kuto and movie aficionado David Denyer. Spoiler alert, you say you've swallowed your breast milk breath mint, Oh oh good, get get clean on the inside. Yeah, buddy, no, I was uh, yeah, it's funny. I had somebody joke like you're suffocating Dave smoking cigars in the in the room. No, No, it was just funny because wh they said. I was like, sh Dave's like, thank god, thank god. It's like potpari in here.

2:24 I wouldn't say that. I would. I wouldn't. I would. Oh, you don't like cigars anymore? Okay, No, it's not that I don't like cigars. I won't share them with you, as you've stopped. That's not what I mean. Well, we already talked about how like I there there's a point where I get it on my clothes and I have to and I just have to get them washed. It's like I don't mind cigars, like go one of the lounge, like sitting in here with you, I don't mind it. But when it's like on my clothes and I'm gonna be around people or whatnot, then I have to. Yeah, then I have to make a change or at least a wash. Well when it makes sense, because lingering smells of most things are pleasant except cigars, like cheese or pickles. Or think I mean literally having a conversation with somebody a couple of days ago about cigar a cigar odor compared to cigarette odor, and it was no comparison.

3:12 I was like, there isn't it. I was like, there's no comparison at all. I like, I'm legitimately disgusted by the smell of cigarettes. And I'm not trying to be hoity toity, It's just it's just a totally differ means. As as you get to a point you can distinguish that one smells like leaves and other aromas and whatnot, and cigarettes always smell the exact same in there stinky. Well, they're meant to be consistent and they're meant to be inhaled, which is I'm not trying to turn this into a cigar cast. It's just but but that's probably the thing that drives me crazy the most, because before I became a cigar enjoyer, I thought a cigar was just a big cigarette and no, sir, not even a little bit. But I had no idea that were there were flavors and blends and recipes.

4:04 And I think, honestly, my first couple of experiences with cigars, even even with me smoking them, not the fact that I was inhaling the whole thing, But it was more so the fact that when I was first around a bunch of cigars. It was when we were live broadcasting from Leaf and Vine. They were having a cigar event, but they were doing it inside because it was a wintertime, so they had a door cracked in the back and then all that shit was just billowing through that bar. So Leaf and Vine, Yeah, are they two separate businesses? Yes, oh so, not so because the law is eighty percent of your sales have to be tobacco. Yeah, in order to have in order or tobacco and tobacco related in order for you to be able to have people smoking in the bar in the they.

4:47 Don't that that might might be saying something I shouldn't, but that was not a usual thing. Like they had banned smoking inside obviously when when the work came in. But for that one event, it was very cold outside. So they if it. Once in a while, I mean, do they do they They're not a lounge. No, not allowed, not allowed by for not allowed in the aspect of like you can smoke inside, chill inside, but you can have your bar. And okay, so it's a it's a bar. It's a bar with the humid oor, yeah, okay, okay. And the humid or is basically the size of I would say, from your shelf to this back wall here, that's the size of the humid oor is like this. Well modestly large one. Yeah yeah, no, hey, you know, get away with it. I forgot. I forgot. The nut is very smoking.

5:29 Yeah, like that was my first, my first real, I guess experience around them, and I got sick from the smell because it was just I mean it was it was pluming, and then it was just I wasn't used to it, and also the airflow wasn't great. So yeah, then it took me a bit. And then also realizing how to actually smoke a cigar and not inhale the whole had you. Smoked one and inhaled before then? Yeah, okay, well that's also gonna have an effect that this kind. Of my first cigar was my graduation, my my high school graduation, my buddy Timson was it. Wherever Tim got them, they weren't great, and so I'm guessing they probably were. They were probably knowing Tim and knowing what he came, what he brought to the party. He probably got them at one of our old carry outs that had them.

6:13 Yeah yeah, yeah, So ironically enough, I was gifted a package of cigars on my eighteenth birthday. But they were no, no, well no, they well they might have been I don't remember what brand they were, but they were gas station. They were peach flavored. And the reason that I wanted them was I had one. I put one in my mouth, unlit, and just went around being flamboyant and funny. That sounds like you. I'd be like, hey, good, you want to be enough forno, you want to be an a movie. That's what I was doing. Because actually that night I was doing that when I went to Oh gosh, what did they call it at that time? It was the midnight movie at page manor before they burned down on when Andy Copp was running them and I and I was like, Andy, let me tell you about that porno business.

7:03 I bet he loved that. He did not think it was funny. He was never very happy at those screenings, but they were very stressful. Yeah. So anyway, but my point is, so I've been trying to dig into my deep storage of cigars because I'm terrified that if I don't like dig in there, that They're gonna like mold or something. So people who don't know you can store cigars basically and definitely as long as you keep the temperature decent and you keep the humidity level very specific. I've been fighting with mine in the last couple days, not majorly. It was just we've been turning the air the heat on and off because of the temperature and whatnot, so it's been dipping a little bit. But I've kept it right between sixty nine and sixty eight for the most part.

7:47 Nice. Well, that's that's really snug. Actually, I don't even keep them. That's not that's that's where that's where they float normally. With with the way that that's only two points. I mean, like I mine fluctuate between sixty five and sixty eight. Well, I mean there was a day I came home and they were sixty three. That's when I was like, we got to do a little change here. Oh yeah, and you have the yeah, yeah, is it plugged in? It's well then, oh yeah, no, it's it's on like it's it's running. It's just the problem is when I turned the heat off and then we open the yea, yeah, that's right. But also how many how many humidity packs do you have in it? Three? Three of the big, big, big ones. Well, I guess I technically have six because I've got two of the big ones, one medium, and then I've got like four. The big one is in it's enclosed in the cardboard container. Yeah. Are they okay? Are they doing okay? Yeah, they're not too crunchy. No.

8:29 The only one I had to change recently was the small ones. Yeah. Well, depending on how old they are, it might be a good idea just swap them anyway. I'm actually doing that right now. Yeah, I'm going through in any of them that that make too much of a crunch sound when I squeeze them. Yeah, these are humidity packets, guys. They have us Like three weeks ago was like when we had the major dip, because that was when it was just like, hey, here's a fifty degree day, and now we're back to twenties. Yeah, Ohio is really Ohio and it's weatherland. Yeah, so that I remember. That was the one day I came home and it was sixty three. So I messed with the raised it up a little bit and then looked at the packs and there was like four of them that I replaced, the small ones. Is I've got a pack of the small ones. I need to get a new pack of of the bigger ones than cardboard. But the other ones, the cardboard one, you probably I would recommend three of those in there is what i'd recommend it. I'd probably go ahead and go fresh if you're having that big of a change, not because that'll should never happen, because that totally will happen, but because they're probably pretty old. I'm having this, Like I said, I'm having the same thing, except they're so expensive because they're like twenty seven bucks each. So I'm replacing two at a time, like every time I get a pay payout to try and get them kind of where I like it. But so I was digging into my storage a few days ago, and I have so many cigars.

9:40 I've collected them in so many ways that I don't even know what's in there. And I was digging around and I grabbed this one cigar and it was a Gurka, which is not a brand I buy a lot of. My lounge doesn't sell them, you know. So I'm like, oh, hey, Girka, Well, gurkhas are good. So I cut it and light it and it was called Gurka yakusa. So I started smoking I'm like, hey, this thing's pretty damn good. See if I can get five of them, because there's only one in there. Yeah. So I was like, because I don't remember where I got this, but I should see when and get more. So I google it. Not only can I not find any, but they're twenty three dollars a stish shit. Yeah how it goes. I probably got them in some multi pack or a gift pack. Yeah, because when cigars, when they change the labels on the bands, they sell them cheap. It's it's why I have my secret stash of cohibas for so affordable, because cohebas are expensive.

10:32 Yeah, but I have a bunch of booked one kohiba my entire life. Fancy coheba from for a buddy, Jeff, you got to forge. For a birthday. H Remember haven't I given you a koheba, not a fancy one like that? Well, I'm I mean, I'm just fucking with you. Most cohbas are fancy, okay, Well on your birthday, I'll give you a fucking cohebra prick. So anyway, yes, that all being said, it was just very funny because then when I saw the expense on it too, I was like, well that was good. That would never spend twenty three dollars. I still want more of the don't tread on mes and those are gone basically from what you told me. I mean they could be back, yeah, if you act. I haven't looked at a while, young man. I use Cigars dot com too, you know that's not where I'm car daily. That's not where you get them either. Their cigar page.

11:13 I have all three of those. Well, but cigar page is who makes that? Yeah, or at least that's the only place to get Yeah, yeah, no, no Cigars Internationals. Who made those bone shakers you like so much? So? Did I tell you that? While I was at the jamboree the Joebob Jambree in Memphis, I walked past the guy was smoking stogy, so I stopped talked for a second, and I was like, what are you smoking? And he was like, it's like a discount stick. You probably never heard of it. But I really love them though they're called bone shakers. And I was like, I've enjoyed a bone shaker the time of time, But Dave you really like them? I like those? They don't try The mems are my favorite bone Shakers were probably close to that, but I think my favorite so far has been a. A lev of Connecticut. That's just my go to Connecticut actually smoked from my deep storage and I leave a serie v Oh those are good too, Yeah, and I never liked them as much as I like that one. Yea, So now I'm much more into it.

12:00 I need to remember which one is the house cigar at Leaf. I gotta remember that. I well, it's probably not sold anywhere else. Yeah, that's so. So what happens is these big cigar companies like Oliva, my Father whatever. Yeah, when they have a good relationship with a cigar shop, they have I don't know how many it could be five, it could be twenty blends, and they'll send the cigar place all each of those blends labeled. Yeah, and then you pick the blend and that becomes your house blend of that. Yeah. And because it's manufactured in mass it doesn't have a box, it doesn't have usually it don't even have labels on them. Am I right, there's no band on them. Because of that, they can if they're usually like six dollars, seven dollars, they're usually pretty cheap. I wonder if it's on their website.

12:45 So well, I'm just I've noticed that a few places they'll have a house Oliva or a house my father, or some will even just have a plain old house. Blend Aliva is I mean a Leaf and Vine was the first place that I was introduced to Aliva, so that because then it was because of the house cigar, because when we were doing the broadcast there Thursday night, we would also promote the specials, and they had a special on their houses. Most cigar lounges are a brand forward. Yeah, not all like like B and G's where you know where you and I frequent, they're not one brand forward. But most places usually they're kind of like they're they're you know, drew a State forward, yeah, or a lev A forward. Doesn't mean they don't have lots of other stuff, but they may just have the most of that stuff. Makes sense.

13:25 So well, I mean, you know, you get you make friends in this business. But speaking of friends, you know, who's the best friend you'll ever have? David? Who's that yourself? Is that true? I know because we just watched Mickey seventeen. We just got back from seeing Mickey seventeen in the theater. This is Bong Bong June Hoe. I keep saying Bong June and said, yeah, yeah, yeah, Boon Jong Hoe's newest film. The director of Parasite, of Host, of Snow Piercer. Snow Piercer. Is it hand I think Handmaiden might be. No, that's Park, that's Park. He's actually not directed that many films in the last decade.

14:06 He's more been in that big movie I mean, because Parasite won the Academy Award. He's more been in. That realm of like big, big budget oscar worthy stuff. Snow Piercer, Parasite, ok Ja Mother, Let's see. We also have Tokyo the Host stink. Oh, that's a short. That's a short, Memories, Memories, Murder. That's what I'm saying. That's a really good one. Oh. I've enjoyed his movies. I will say, of all his films i've seen, it's not my top. No, it's not my top. My top is probably Parasite. Parasite's very hard to be but before that Host would have been my top. Host is very good too. Host is excellent. Unfortunately I saw Hosts last Yeah, because Rachel brought it to me and I was blown away, and I literally was like, this would have been my favorite movie of his had I not seen Parasite. All you've seen, right, I have not seen oo O is really good. I've heard it's good. Yeah, it's snow Piercer is freaking phenomen.

15:00 I'm getting ready to do a revisit on it because I kind of want to start the series. Well, and I've heard good things. I haven't. I think it's on HBO. Maximum Oh, well, then I should watch it. But snow Piercer was a phenomenal film, But Mickey seventeen. It's a science fiction movie about these people traveling through space to colonize new planets, and they have what are called the Expendables. They're people who their their consciousness is downloaded to a computer and then they're put on deadly missions. They do things that will definitely result in their death, with the idea being that when they die, they just regenerate the next day, regenerate and give them their memories. But there was one thing that bothered me. They said that in order to keep you up to date, they upload your personality every week. Why did Mickey remember every time he died? Because because when we meet him he remembers dying, and one of the things he never wants to answer is what it feels like to die. Everybody asks him, and I thought when he finally answered, or was about to finally answer, I thought he was gonna say, I don't know, yeah, because all I know is that I have because they upload him once a week, they don't up. It doesn't upload continuously as he dies, So why would he remember those things?

16:13 I mean, there's a lot of unanswered questions with the whole memory aspect, because you were even pointing out what one. I felt like that was like a straight up plot hole as opposed to maybe we don't understand and that's possible. That's what I mean, because like the whole element where Okay, So basically the big twist in a very convolutedly massive movie. Yeah, and probably my biggest complaint is how convoluted it was, is somehow Mickey seventeen doesn't die. They think he's going to die, but he doesn't die. So he goes home and discovers Mickey eighteen, and now we have a whole conflict multiples. Now, the trailer made me think that where we were heading with the multiples was like a kind of sci fi court drama about like what do we do about this? And that wasn't even that was literally never even a moment. The shots of the court drama stuff in the trailer were actually from when he's telling the story of what happened, not even well no, no, it's at the beginning end. Well, but I mean when he was telling that. No, that was the parliament. I mean what they were having the bows where they're like religious groups and everything hated it, so they banned the practice from Earth, which is the other reason they're doing it is because they're in space. So nobod I see what you're saying. But yeah, that was the government. I'm talking about just the court thing or.

17:26 Whatever press conference. Yeah, yeah, well the hall was way bigger because they weren't on a stupid spaceship. But ye, I didn't hate the movie. It had charming and cute moments, very memorable performances, although I thought the performances were really really broad, like there was no subtlety at all. It was about as far from parasite as you can get. But my biggest problem was I feel like most of his movies have been epics, but they're focused like Parasite is focused even though a lot happened. I felt like it is it really hits, it's perfect. But Snow Piercers it's great. Snow Piercer is an incredible film, and it has layers and layers and layers. My favorite thing about The Host too, is that it's not really solely focused on the monster by any stretch of the imagination.

18:13 It's not focused at all. It's not the family. It's like Fast and the Furious. It's not family about family. Bruh. No, but but it is. You're totally right, it's why. That's why the Host made me cry. It's yeah, there's there's a lot of goods scene on them. It's a phenomenal movie. So I didn't hate it, No, but it was not. It just didn't grab me very well. It was definitely really long and too much was going on. It was way too unfocused. It would introduce things and then you would think like, Okay, so this is gonna be a bigger point in the plot now, and then it's like we really went back to it, like maybe at the end for like five minutes or so. Yeah. I think I do think some of that may have been the trailers making you think that the whole movie was about the multiples.

18:54 And that's that's what's funny, is like, Yeah, I definitely saw the trailers because I know I was sitting next to you the theater when they would come on, But like, I didn't really pay much attention to them. Well, and I thought that overall multiples didn't matter that much because you know, I kind of thought was gonna happen was when there was unrest on the ship and they were starting to realize that like their leaders a meglomaniac and they need to stand up to him. I thought they were gonna, like in secret, start doubling them so that their numbers could be greater. Yeah, and then they'd have to figure out, like, okay, now what do we do with everybody having three of each other? Yeah, I thought it might because that would be kind of funny and a kind of was. Introducing that whole thing about the one guy that made himself twice and then was a serial killer of the homeless and everything, Like I thought that was a little cool touch on it. And it's just like we never really did anything, not specifically with him, but like anything nobody nobody else made doubles.

19:38 I was really surprised. Yeah, and that whole thing I thought was a nice little kind of nod to the idea of using like for like Nazi scientists for NASA and stuff, the idea that it was like so one of the main people who invented this, he was a psychopath, and he did use it to kill a bunch of people. But that doesn't mean that it's not good technology. It just means that guy was bad. I thought that was kind of a fun, a fun little element, but overall it was. Just it was. It was fine. I if it had been shorter, I really would have enjoyed it more. I think it could have been a crisp hundred minutes, and that might be asking a logs. I mean, it is two hours and seventeen minutes. But I just felt like there was a lot of excess left there that really. Didn't amount to much. And it could just be the fact that, like it was, it a lot happened quick too. Sure, sure, but then also in some cases I felt like it didn't. I feel like we were given a lot, but I don't know if we were really given a lot to think about.

20:29 I guess is the best way to put it. Yeah, like I said, I think it just wasn't focused. Yeah, I think that's really my biggest complaint is it just it didn't have a focus to to kind of pull us in and. It became more apparent for me in the in the final act than anything. Yeah, Rush was just kind of odd. It was odd. But yeah, I mean it's absolutely like I said on Letterbox, I think it's absolutely worth a watch, especially you can see in theaters. But it's I think it might be a one and done for me personally. Plug your letterbox for all the haters out there. My letterbox is David s WMA for days, it's watching Movies Again. You can find me on there, and you can also find me on Instagram at David's Watching Movies Again as well. The two kind of crossover sometimes. Well I don't know if I told you, hmmmm, but I did sign up for Letterbox.

21:11 Oh you did? I did? Oh my, And. Believe it or not, you're my first subscribe subscription. I'm just fucking like I was gonna say. You know why though, Why Because tonight's episode is about as we've been doing into the Dark all this month. March it into the Dark Babby. The Hulu series where it was a new film every month. Yes, this month, recovering the twenty nineteen April Fool's Day. Eis correct, and it's called I'm Just Fucking with You, which is great for monetization, it's great for everything. Me trying to pull that trailer and send it to you today at work was like me like accessing like James Bond files, like trying to pull it real up, real quick copy and send it.

21:53 That's funny. Yeah. Yeah, if you ever had that problem again, just get fired for the show. It's fine. No, you can also just text me and be like, hey, please look that one up. It it's not like that's a rare trailer. Side deep throat. There we go, Linda Lovelace dot E. I swear, but no. So this is yet another episode from the anthology series Yes, season one yep, and we've talked about it a lot in the last few episodes. So a very brief rundown is just that. Hulu and Blumhouse Television came together and made a twenty four episode series where every single month there was a brand new eighty minute film feature film that was in the vein of horror, science fiction, thriller, drama, horror, et cetera, all over the board. Yeah, and it was a lot of fun. And this episode is a great example of how you never know what you're gonna get. Yeah, because we covered all that we destroyed last week, which was the darkest sci fi ever, almost no levity whatsoever.

22:50 Like I said, it felt it feels more like a Black Mirror episode than it does Into the Dark. But there's nothing wrong with that. Sure well, and Dark Mirror just feels like the best episodes of Twilight. So enough, no hate on Dark Black Mirror. It's twilet Zone is amazing. Yeah. And then and before that, we covered which one was the first one down Down? I keep wanting to say the body, but it's because I'm like one word title, Yeah, no, down down, which was a great one about a couple stuck, well, two people stuck in an elevator, and that one had a lot of levity, a lot of charming stuff, and was very much a suspense heightened thriller. Yeh that then got you know, really horrory at the end. So this is the kind of variance you get with Into the Dark. I can't recommend enough if you have Hulu or Disney Plus with Hulu or whatever the hell. You can't recommend enough people check out.

23:36 Into the Dark min actually played in four K when I watched it too, I was. So, yeah, oh, I have to check my app, given it was on it was on the it was on the TV. I didn't have the Roku or anything. It was on the actual TV or your old TV. Yeah, well I'm gonna check because yeah, I was having that. I was having the problem everything I tried. Yeah, so I switched to the Disney Plus. App, but played four K last night before because. Yeah, because I watched it in four K through Disney Plus this morning this afternoon. Oh yeah, but no, this one's really really fun. Yeah, really strange, tardonic as shit, love that word. And it really keeps you guessing on where it's going, because, like you, you kind of have an idea from the from the get you you're just kind of like, okay, the shady motel, I get this, and then it's just like, oh no, I couldn't have predicted this at all.

24:18 That's going all, it's going everywhere. Maybe it's going everywhere. So Into the Dark I'm just fucking with you. From twenty nineteen one hour in twenty one minutes. Rate a TVMA for sexual content, graphic violence, and strong language, especially strong language in this one. I know, yeah, there's a lot of swearing in this well, I mean I put fucking the title. Sure you know you knew? I mean. The synopsis says a pair of siblings suffer through a night of frightening practical jokes during their stay at a secluded motel. That's okay, my synopsis. While in town for a wedding, a man stays at a rundown motel where he becomes the victim of many pranks that build on severity. Hmmm, maybe, David, maybe, And I like yours more. Actually, I actually like yours more. Tag lines this time, we don't have any. I couldn't find any. The only one I can to come up with, which is terrible, is no one's laughing now.

25:05 I mean I've heard worse. Yeah, But like I I was kind of I was kind of scratching the service of it last night, and like what I was working on was it's no laughing matter, Like I was trying to think of, like in that realm of it, but it was all like, oh, they're all cliche, like they've all been fucking done before. What what about it's just a joke with the question mark I like that, I like that, or oh you don't be a better tagline say this's called I'm just fucking the The tagline could be, Hey, it's a joke, not a dick. Don't take it so hard. There you go. It's a joke, not a dick. A joke, not a dick. That's it. That's it. So our director on this is Adam Mason. He gets his start as director and writer on two thousand and one's Dust, goes on to directed Right Broken the Devil's Chair in two thousand and seven, which is one of those DVDs that I've seen everywhere, like growing up and going to like the swapshops, Blood River in two thousand and nine, Pig twenty ten, Luster Junkie in twenty ten.

25:57 Oh a pig for a different h Yeah yeah, not that big was about to get really excited for a second. Hang Man in twenty fifteen, Baby Blue in twenty twenty three. And then in twenty twenty three he also shoots a little film called Five Nights at Freddy's. Nice. Yeah, so this was kind of his tryout I think for getting on Yeah, for. Real, because they suched them. Was also Blumhouse. It was yeah, those last three except for well, actually I think Vengeance was Blumhouse on their regular line, not their horror line or whatever.

29:09 In twenty twenty Ambulance, the Michael Bay film. I like the Ambulance. That talk about a perfect example of Michael Bay at his finance. Yeah, it's just like, Hey, you want your blood pressure up? Yeah, here we go. Here's some drones. Oh my god. And then most recently Mayor of Kingstown in twenty twenty four. Moving on to our cast, we have Hayes MacArthur, who plays Chester Conklin in the film. He gets a start in two thousand and five on the King of Queens Medium Are We done yet? Look? In two thousand and seven. That's so. That's where I first recognized him was in Look. He played the sleazy store guy. He was the manager or superman. The supervisor is something of a mall store and Look is one of the finest films. Whish it was more available.

29:51 I wish it was easier to find. Yeah, that's too. Yeah, you search Look movie Good Luck. Look two thousand and seven DVD on Amazon. I'll get it for you. And while you're there, might as well. The TV series on. Show Yeah, there was a Showtime series which was also really good. Yeah. They were both great, though they were Great The game Plan in two thousand and seven, Curb Your Enthusiasm two thousand and seven, Lower Learning, Entourage, Pushing Daisies, How I met your mother preppin Landing, She's out of my league, Happy Ending, Suburgatory Bachelorette, The Baby Makers, Hunted House two, Key and Peel Director's cut in twenty sixteen. Yeah, and that's the other spot I remembered him popping out with the cop right cut. Yeah, he plays the well in the words of Pendulotte's character, the tongue. Rate pers out of tongue rapist.

30:31 He plays the partner of Missy Pyle's character in the cop movie Knocked Off. Yeah, that's inside inside of the directors cut. Yeah, director's cut might have to be an episode if we can even attempt. Man, I haven't watched that since I showed it to you because I was at the Chicago premiere. Yeah, and then I bought my own copy. Yeah. I like director's cut. It's good and you tried back in twenty sixteen. Super Troopers two, I'm just fucking with you, Mister Mom TV series in twenty nineteen. Hey, Finally, Single Parents in twenty nineteen. The Way Back in twenty twenty the Ben Affleck Drunk Basketball Coach movie. I like the good. Yeah, yeah, everyone is. Doing great in twenty eighteen, and most recently, Win Catcher in twenty twenty four. Okay or actually, no apologies, that was Rachel Adams. Think I just read back to that. The Binge in twenty twenty, which is Blumhouse.

31:13 It was good, it was fun. History of the World Part two and twenty twenty three. Never saw it, don't fair, Dear Santa in twenty twenty four, the Jack Black movie that just came out. Oh I meant to watch that, didn't get it. Then. Wrapping up our cast, we have Jessica McNamee, who plays Rachel Adams in the movie. She gets her start in two thousand and seven's Home and Away, Hammer Bay in two thousand and seven, The Loved Ones, Fifty to fifty, The Vow, White Collar, Packed to the Rafters, The Time of Our Lives, Sirens, Chips, The Neighbor, Battle of the Sexes, The Meg in twenty eighteen. Hey I'm just fucking with You in twenty nineteen, Locus, Blackwater Abyss, Mortal Kombat remake in twenty twenty one. Oh oh yeah, yeah. Yeah that was good. Visitor. I really like that. Got another Mortal Kombat movie.

31:55 I don't think it did super well. Unfortunately, I thought it was a hit. Was it a huge hit? I'll check one, you'll say, yeah, The Visitor in twenty twenty two, upright, everyone is doing great and Win Catcher in twenty twenty four. Hey, so first time. Watching this, if I remember correctly, this was one again that we caught the preview at the end of the previous month and we were immediately into the idea of it, just because I think all it showed was the initial bar scene and then like some of the menacing and it was. Just kind of like that looks right up or alley. Yeah. Yeah, And if I remember correctly, like we watched it. Premiere day, like we made it a premier week, Premier week. Yeah, I don't remember what day of the week they came out, probably Friday, Friday, I think, yeah, but I think we watched that Tuesday or whatever. We watched the week it came out, for sure. Yeah. By the way, so I was I was somewhat. I mean, I wasn't wrong, but I wasn't right. Mortal Kombat from twenty twenty one was a modest hit fifty five million against with an eighty four million dollar box office, which is but I remember what I remembered most was it getting good reviews. Yeah, and audience feeling very positive on it.

32:56 I feel like they announced the sequel was coming like shortly after it too, But maybe I'm wrong. I thought they did too the other reason I was like that. But also keep in mind those are pretty good box office numbers for that close to COVID. Yeah, you're not wrong, because I'm pretty sure that California and stuff still couldn't go to the movies. At that point. Well, it premiered on Max, did it not? Yeah? It did? Oh it was on both, remember, because then the Lounge had a screening of it. Yeah, you're right, it says in twenty twenty two, Warner Brothers greenlit the sequel, and then no, it's it's it's apparently it may have already filmed last year. Oh okay. They added a ton of people to the cast, like like the Mizz from WWE, Carl Urban, Dave Batista, not quite huh Anyway, enough of that, but I just got curious there. So No, I remember when we put it on, we were we were pretty excited because the promotion for it.

33:54 Was really fun, was really fun. It's colorful and called I'm just fucking with You. It was very in your face. I feel like I remember us because at the end of every new episode they had the teaser for the next one, and I feel like we laughed out loud, yeah, because it waited till the end to call give you, just to give you the title I'm just fucking with you. Yeah. So I was pretty I was pretty stoked on it. It looked like fun and I love hotel horror. I think hotel horror is always a good idea. I mean, I like Hotel hell. But I guess you could consider that hotel horror. What about horror hospital or was it where it was ther hospital? It was just a big house hotel with Michael Goff. Yes, yeah, that made no sense. That was a bad movie. I mean the movie made no sense With the title. I mean, it's got a hell of an opener. You you get to see a mental patient running down a hill or running down a road, and then his car that Michael Goff is in suddenly springs blades on the sides and they go through and somehow cut his head off.

34:42 Even though they come out of the wheels. We see that all the time. That's that's every day. But yeah, I'm just fucking with you. Was I mean, it was so much fun. It was so dark. It was it. We'll get into it, but I mean, this one is is up there for me. It's it's rated pretty high for me. Yeah, it get it's darker and darker as it goes, and by the time you really catch up to it, all sanity is pretty much gone gone. Yeah. So we open with a guy driving down the road of a deserted stretch and he is getting on his phone, logs into Facebook under a program account called programming Flaw. I thought it was Twitter either way, Facebook, Twitter x whatever, making a de Niro face, Yeah, either way.

35:27 He logs into a social media app under the under the account of programming Flaw, and he goes to a woman's wedding page. It's a wedding event and it's like, oh, you know, we got fourteen hours to go, and he proceeds to just start trolling on this page. But not only this page, No, he extends it to multiple accounts and like says some really heinous shit. Yeah, and he definitely they make it clear. It spans all social media. Yeah, this this troll account of his is basically everywhere and saying some really heinous and mean things. One of my favorite things were when you see the trolls typed out. Some of them would be really clever or really cruel, but the other ones were just kind of like what.

36:07 Yeah, like go die and stuff like that. Which actually made it funnier though that someone would just be like, I guess that's insulting. Yeah, yeah, okay. Well, and what I love too is like that's then we cut to the opening credits like that, that's what we get. It's just like that, I'm just he posts that and it's just like, I'm just fucking with you. But then we span a bunch of him just doing that, and that's the introduction to our band character Larry Too. Yeah yeah, and we find out that Larry has quite an ID. Yes, I would say he does. So he gets a call from his sister who asked me if he's like coming to the event, and we find out that there's a wedding that he I'm surprised he's been invited to it, to be honest, Childhood Friends is oh it well, and also first cousin. Yeah, childhood friends, first cousin. Wait, are you sure she was his first cousin or was it? Or was it that she was?

36:51 She's marrying the first cousin, That's what it. Was, because she called because his sister called her cousin, fucker, cousin, fucker, pardon my friend. Sorry if you haven't heard fuck yet in the show. No, but also keep in mind, like they had to be childhood friends also just because she invited her his sister and they all grew up together. Yeah, it's the whole family. Yeah. So they're at this hotel getting ready for this wedding and he tells her that he's not staying at the hotel. He actually booked a room at the Pink Motel Lounge. She says, this is just one of the things I got a kick out of that actually I wanted to bring up. Yeah, she says, what debaucherous body? You know? I think was the word. But she's like, what you know, bizarre hell hole did you pick? And he's like, and what was it called? Pink Pink Motel in lounge? The pink Hotel in lounge? And she goes, of course you did, so apparently he gets a kick out of staying at the shitholes. Yeah, which is weird though, because later he's such a neat freak.

37:43 Well, but what's also funny is I think too not funny, but I think One thing I was thinking about while I was watching this last night was when he leaves the review, which we'll get tough here in a second. I wonder if he does that and recoups money, because he could probably do that. I don't know, though, is it worth it to get like seventy dollars back because you know the clams forever? Yeah, and oddly enough, you get that from the hair dryer. Don't ask me how, Don't ask you? Black scene, so gross. So he arrives at the pig Motel and lounge and finds no one at the desk. He rings the bell, no one, but he hears some conversation coming around from the bar that's attached to the pig motel. So he goes through the kitchen the lounge. Well, it's a kid. It's like a full on diner almost looking place. It's a lounge, yeah, but it was it was.

38:26 It was a it. Did. It looked like a diner with a full bar, which by the way, very common in Jersey, That's what I ask you. Yeah, because I've never been to a diner that had like a bar. Well. So when I lived in North Jersey there were there were four diners I frequented, and the biggest one, which is still around all the other ones I think are gone now was the Pompton Queen, and the Pomped and Queen had a full bar. I don't think you could get like heavy shots. I think you could just get like mixed drinks and beer. Would love to eat some eggs and chase it with a jack and coke. Just you mean, but but with pants on for a change of place.

39:09 You don't know my life, oh don't I. So you're welcome. But yeah, So he goes into the bar. We see a guy talking to a customer and who's at the bar, and we see one guy behind him, and immediately when he walks in, they just stop and like he's just like can I help you? And he's like, no, I can help you. He's like, you know, you got a problem, and he's like no, and he's like, yeah you do x y Z. I think you do have a problem. Yeah, yeah, Oh I want to mention One of my favorite tropes in a movie is doing something that feels like it's out of a movie in a movie. I find that very funny. So the idea that like two people are just I know what you mean, and then you walk in the just you got a problem, It's like it's like the only thing missing was a record scratch.

39:49 Yeah. Yeah, So he goes x y Z looks down his flies completely untouched, and then he looks back up and the guy goes, I'm just fucking with you. And that's when we meet Chess. You're Conklin, the man who's taking care of the Pink Motel and lounge, who's sitting with one of the regulars, Jerry aka Gerald. Who is the biker, the local resident biker. Yeah, And at first we think that these guys are long butt time buddies because they're just kind of laughing and talking and stuff like that. But as he introduced himself, he says, I'm Gerald. He says, but you call me Jerry because their name's rhyme. Yeah. Like when he when the biker leaves, he actually says, like, you know, is nice getting to know you Chester. Jerry's kind of a nice guy.

40:29 No, he's just kind of playful. Yeah. So that's when he asked him, like if he can check in, and he's like, you know, yeah, go ahead and give me seventy five of the rooms all yours. Give him seventy five bucks. Well, he says, if you pay me in cash, yeah, I won't charge you. Charge sales tax. Yeah, So he hands him over the money. They shoot up the conversation a little bit. He even offers him a drink, and that was one thing for Jerry walked away as he's like, you know, well, you know, it's it's very unkind to leave a drink that somebody's offered you. It's bad lad lunch, I think he said. Or it's insulting, insulting to leave a drink given to you. Yeah. So that's when we also found out when he said I'm fuck with you that it's April Fool's Day. Yes, yes, yes, which which is the perfect cover for it to just go on and on. See. One of the great things David about life on this planet Mars is what I call joke sception. Okay, it's the ability to actually do something truly awful because people do expect jokes. Yeah, Like I used to always say, like the best way to kill someone if they get away from you and you have to chase them down and stuff. Is I used to say was to say, you're on scare tactics and then they go you got me stab in the throat.

41:35 That's and they're like, killed you. That's funny. That's terrified, terrifying, but funny because you like it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, well, especially if it was me trying to kill you. It reminds me of I can't remember. Have you ever seen Just Friends with an A Fairis and Ryan Reynolds. It's a Christmas Oh yeah, it was that the one where he's fat at the beginning. Yes, oh, I love that movie. So one of my favorites is when Anna Faris puts the dinner in the microwave that has tinfoil around it. The plane obviously has the land because there's a giant fire, and she's like. She's like, what do you beat the planes on fire? Wait? Am I being punked? Ashed? And just starts running around. Yeah. No, I remember that note.

42:15 Brittany that references for you, Brittany is the one that our friend Brittany of the show has turned me on to Just Friend when I was in high school. I've never seen it before. So much fun. But yeah, So. That's when he's like, you know, hey, well can I get the room key? And he's like, yeah, you know, as soon as you give me a credit card and a photo ID. And he's like, well, I just I just gave you the seventy five bucks and he's like, credit card, photo ID will be good to go, and he's like, even turn out your pockets. Well even says like this is why I always require proper identification and a credit cards. There's no dispute. Yeah, like this. So he screws at them for like a good minute, like the tension builds and the music builds a little bit, and then he basically like tell I can't know if he tells. Him to give him his hand or whatnot, and then he put.

42:57 No, no. He says, look, there's only one thing left I have for you. He slams his hand on the desk. He goes, you're rootie, Yeah, I got you. Yeah. And it was a solid one too, because he because at one point he even says like, look, I don't know what kind of scam you're trying to pull, or if you're trying to pull a scam, and then he's like, do I have to call the police? Like, yeah, you should. You should call the police, which, by the way, is the number one bluff when somebody says I'm gonna call the police, they go, oh, I should call the police. Yeah. The guy who's like kying your car without any pants on and an erection, he's the one who be like, maybe I should call the police on. You, and then you're like, how do you know my name? And before all this, we also had Chester and Larry kind of get to know each other more so. Larry was telling him about the wedding and he didn't want to go. There was a food reason there. Then doesn't give the exact and.

43:43 Larry starts being snarky and funny. Yeah, he makes a reference to if I remember correctly, he was like, he was like, let me tell you about mine. I had to buy them seventy five dollars cookie sheet that this was all that was left on the registry. And he was like, yeah, she's not gonna us a Misspiggy don't cooker cookies. Is like, yeah, exactly, like he's being He's starting to be that online self. That programming flaw. Yeah. Yeah, So he gets his room, Eric gets his room key, and then he proceeds to go into the room and cleans thoroughly, inspects everything from a black light on the bed, to the phone to the TV where we do see some splotches. Yeah, and when he when he shakes Gerald's hand earlier, Yeah, he cleans his hand with a with a wet nap.

44:25 And I noticed that Gerald tries to just not take it personally, like you see that just goes like, yeah, he tries not to take that personally. So we're clearly dealing with somebody who has I would say, a bit beyond a normal level of germophobia. Definitely, he's definitely a bit on the higher level of OCD well. And we could and we. Should also say too that he's not very confrontational at first. He's he's very reserved. He's the confrontational online because that's he's the kind of a. Guy who would just take it smiling to your face and then talk shit for forever and get shot. Well, if body count is to be trusted. So he goes back onto his phone and leaves a bad review on the Pink Motel's page, giving it one star.

45:07 Saying that the service is terrible, that it's a that it's like a rundown place and whatnot, and then goes back to Cindy's Facebook page and lightly pleasures himself, unaware that there is a camera filming him above while he's laying on the bed in the hotel room. Now, David, this is very important. Yes, how do you define lightly pleasuring yourself? He sticks his hand into his pants and then basically has has like one he's got like the one cuff outside of the pants. So he's not like full on grabbing it and yanking. He's at least like, you know, heavy pet in it a little bit. See. I appreciate this. I appreciate that you would share your knowledge on this topic. Thank you, Thank you. We all thank you. Oh yes, yes, we all think. Well. I am the doctor Ruth of this podcast.

45:48 Basically I was thinking where you were the sex with Sue of this podcast. So that's when he gets interrupted because he also receives a friend request from Chester on Facebook. Yeah, and that's what we find out. His name is Chester Conklin. What a nam? What a name? He doesn't accept it as he catches a breaking news about a fatal car wreck, and he goes to call his sister because we forgot to say that Rachel was going to come meet him at the hotel, right right, She actually was going to reserve a room and everything, and she hasn't arrived yet. So that's when he leaves the room to call her in check. And he decides for some reason to call the front desk and talk to Chester. I mean, you know, the guy's he's lowe. I mean, well, you gotta. I think that there's a lot to be said for Chester listening to him vent about this the wedding woman in the wedding and the cookie sheets and everything. I think that that kind of helps him weasel in because there is a degree of you know, there's that whole element. People often say that it's a lot easier to talk about your problems to a total stranger because they have no notions of you. Yeah, and maybe you'll never see him again or whatever. So I think there's a little bit of that with Chester.

46:51 He's like, why would I ever see this fucking guy again? Yeah, that's why I won't accept his Facebook request, but I will go and talk with him. So is this the first time we see him smoking by the way. I was just curious Chester. I think I did. He might have been smoking in the bars. I couldn't remember, yeah, because like that's one thing I picked up on revisiting it is that the more that he smokes, the more unhinged he is. Yeah, I can't remember. He might have been smoking at an introduction at the bar. Yeah. So that's when he he asked Chester, you know, hey, my sister was coming. Have you seen anything. He's like, well, I haven't seen anything, but let me check the messages. And he comes back and he's like, oh, Larry, I got some I got some bad news. Your sister's not coming. And Larry starts like, you know, getting like what what do you mean, Like what's going on? He's like yeah, He's like, I got a note here that says she found a big dick and she's gonna not make it tonight.

47:38 And like he's like, ah, just fucking with you again. And that's when Larry is clearly not amused. No. So that's when he goes to get himself a drink from a pop machine and we have one of my favorite scenes that I forgot about where the can gets stuck in the machine. So Jerry comes up and hits it and he's like, you know, hey, many you need a friend, hands on the drink and as he takes the drink, he's. Like, did you just touch me? And Jerry's ready to fight Larry, that's like one of my favorite things. Is like he's ready to throw down. And he's like, he's like, are you ready to fight? And he's like no. He's like, oh, all right, have a good night. You've voted an ass beaten, Like that's my favorite thing. You ready to fight? No? All right? Then yeah, it just walks off. So that's when he tries to text a sister, Rachel again. Then he returns to the room, finding a pink envelope on the floor, which he opens to find a dick pic of course, and then flips it over on the back and it says like basically love love your sister or whatever You're not gonna make it or something along those lines.

48:34 Something. Yeah, So he immediately is not amused once again, and he takes it out on Cinney's Facebook page and just goes on a rant one more time again, just hitting multiple people in multiple comments and even like basically calling somebody a cheating bitch. Is the one thing. Oh, he he was just going on a rager. Yeah, and was one of the ones that I just remember. The stuck out to me was there's one where she was making like a kiss he faced, yeah, and he's put giving the world's tiniest penis uplowj Yeah. I was like, all right. So Larry decides to take a shower and as he gets out of the shower, he hears something in his room and he goes to open the door and finds it's locked. And then somebody starts speaking on the other Spanish on the other side of the door. Turns out to be Chester. Just fake fucky.

49:17 I didn't think it was you. He was like, why white people could speak Spanish? Yeah, And he's like, hey, man, I wanted to warn you before you get in there. The door gets stuck. But now that you're in there, we're kind of in a you're kind of at an impasse, like you know, you're not gonna tell on me, right, And he's like, no, man, just like let me out. And he's like, all right, we'll just put your full weight on the door. We know exactly what's gonna happen. He goes one opens the door and he falls out, and Larry's pissed and goes off on Chester and is like, you're pathetic, you're not funny, and Chester taking this all in like is like stoneface the first and he's like, oh, well, if I'm not like, tell me a joke. And then he goes or just no, I like me, My wife likes me. Fucking okay, my custom persons.

49:57 Some reason I had I had a memory that he did that like a fake out, because I had like a memory of us like joking about that, and then it happened. I mean, anytime there's a planes, trains, and automobiles comments yeah, it's available, including runaway. Yes, yeah, oh boy. So that's when he goes, what do you call a face. With no what is it? No nose and no eyes? Yeah, nobody knows, nobody knows. Yeah, And he's like, oh, that was a good joke. So he leaves. He's amused, and that's when Chester or Larry decides that he's done with this place. So he goes and packs all his shit up. He's calling his sister, and right as he puts his stuff into the trunk and slams the door, there's Chester. Yes, and he's like you know, hey, I guess I went too far, Like you know, I'm sorry, man, you know, I hope this isn't any bad blood. You know, if you gotta go, you gotta go, no hard feelings.

50:42 Holds out his hand and. Larry coldly just places the. Room key in it, and Chester goes, all right, and I should mention too. Chester is wearing a Hawaiian shirt, yes, which of course makes sense. There's kind of a luau theme. Yeah, but also he's wearing like those aviators that are they're yellow and like kind. Of I wear them a lot. I wasn't gonna say anything, but yes, yes, yes, we call them douche gagl yes me, I mean your friend. Yes, yes, oh my, that's. What we call. No. But I mean so he does look kind of annoying. Yeah, So Chester tells him to enjoy the wedding and if Rachel arrives, he'll let him know. So Larry gets in the car, he's getting ready to pull up map Quest and then he starts realizing, how did he know my sister's name? Yes, so he immediately calls nine one one.

51:31 Waste no time, calls nine one one. So then we have the classic cuts to black as we go to the TV break and then sheriff arrives as we come back. Larry demands to know how Chester knew the name, and he's like, oh, well, Larry, you told me your name. Like, I'm sorry that you forgot, but you told me. So the sheriff basically separates the two. He takes Chester into the bar area, Larry's in the kitchen, and that's when Larry takes it upon himself while they're talking to go into the office and search for something, and he finds a paper with her name on it, and it turns out it's the automatic registration that she's sent in. Of course, yeah, there's probably shocking as this may be, especially to you, David, after that, especially after that black light scene. Shockingly enough, I don't think they're full of Yeah, I don't think that. I think they probably had like a few reservations.

52:17 I'd have got some vacancies. So I think he was like, oh, the one other reservation and it's a woman's name, probably his sister. Oh yeah, same last name too. Yeah. So that is when he takes it to the cop and he's like, you know, this is my sister's name and one of my favorite scenes that I also forgot about is Chester is like, hey, Larry, what are you doing and hits something on the side and then punches himself in the face. Yeah, the cop doesn't see it, so naturally the cop thinks that Larry does it. He goes to a wrest Larry, and then Rachel shows up. Yay. Finally she's just. Like, you know, what's going on here? And they try to explain everything, and that's when the cop is like, you know, I'm gonna take you in and Chester's like, oh no, no, let him go, like. Out of hands.

52:58 I was needling him all. Yeah, I let things get out of hand. You know, I'm not pressing any charges. And that's when the cops like, you're really lucky. So the cop leaves and he's like, you know, if I have to come back out here, like I'm gonna rest both of you, Like I don't care what it is, both of you will be coming in with me if I have to come back out here. So that Rachel's like, what did I miss And we kind of get a brief explanation of him. Just fucking with him. Ah, I said the thing. So Rachel explains that she got caught in the accident that he saw on the TV and everything, And so that's when Chester gives him a hug, tells him that both the rooms are on the house and that he's sorry and that he wishes them well for the rest of their night. So then Rachel and Rachel and Larry go to his room. They're sharing a joint on the bed, catching up on everything. That's when we get the cousin fucker line because they're talking about the wedding.

53:43 Ye. And then there's a knock at the door. Oh, so Larry goes to the people. He looks out and we just see this really creepy shot of Chester holding two fruit like tropical drinks. Yeah. I thought you'd know. I mean they look like any any type of like tequila sunrise or any like. Sex on a beata. Yeah, I don't know your adult drinks. So he offers them a two drinks, apologizing to them, and that's when Larry even offers to join him for a drink. No, Rachel, Oh, Rachel asks yeah. Yeah. So that's when we see them all sitting pool side. They're throwing a few back, they're having some laughs, and this is also when he asks the Chester is he ever serious, and Chester basically says that he's the life of the party. You know, he's the guy that always has a joke and he's actually pretty normal.

54:32 And it should be mentioned that when Rachel offers to have a drink with him, yeah, Chester's being like a ten percent kicked puppy. Oh yeah, look, I just after all the trouble, I just thought you guys would like some drinks, you know, and stuff like that. So now as they're sitting there, though, one thing that is pointed out that Larry points out about Chester is Chester's jokes aren't very good. No, Like, he made some joke about like about like being a oh doctor so and so needs a hand jopper. So it was like that doctor, yeah, that joke, I would hand jobs if I'm the doctor. Yeah, why would Why would you be prescribing to me if I'm the doctor. Yeah. Stuff like that happens a lot where Chester gets very frustrated because he has jokes don't really make s well.

55:16 And Chester also asked Rachel, He's like, you know, has he always been this way? And She's like no, actually, he used to be like really fun and really nice, but. Then something happened and. Yeah, yeah, I'm guessing is the breakup Well, he started being a good little boy, yeah, and behaving in public and you know, having his mister Hyde come out at other times. M hmmm, yeah. Yeah. It's not not a healthy way to live. No, it's not. No. So that's when we find out that Larry also confesses that he was in love with Cindy, but she dumped him the day before he was going to propose. She's marrying their cousin, and he also has a letter that he's going to give her the day of her wedding that gives all the feelings that he's.

55:59 Been handed to her right before. She says, I do yep, and he idea. Mistakenly shows it to Chester. Well, he resists at first. Chester really insists. So Chester takes a look at it and he even starts like even tearing up little bit, and he's like, that's really beautifularry, it's fucking beautiful. So then Rachel wakes up. Yeah, Rachel wakes up and she's like, you know, all right, guys, I think it's time for me to head back, and Chester's like, you know, yeah, I need to head back to the desk. So they all say good night, and they go back to their rooms and have a nice sleep credits. But then right before he goes to bed, he decides to accept the friend request on Facebook, and we also, yeah, we also see that the camera is still rolling right over him in the bed of his hotel room as well. So he rolls over and goes to sleep, but then is woken up by Jerry shouting pissed off.

56:56 Yeah, Jerry is real mad. He's very mad because as we also see that Jerry's motorcycle has been touched and there is now is there just one or is there several? I think several several, there's several giant green cocks on his motorcycle. Yes, and everybody knows that that doesn't go with the n child. No, it does not purple maybe maybe maybe, And bikers love when their bikes are touched by other people. Actually, it's ideal for them. Yeah. So he walks up. Chester walks up to him, and he's like, hey, man, you know, isn't it funny? And Jerry's not having it and just starts wailing on him. Yes, But then Chester gets up starts wailing right back at him, and by this point Rachel and Larry are both out of their hotel rooms watching this happen.

57:39 Yeah, but he's wailing on him like like there's a saying that I heard growing up, not going to say from who definitely wasn't my felon father. Some people that when they start punching and kicking, you notice they're playing for keeps. Yeah, and that's the definition is what he's doing, is he is wailing on him like like he could kill him. Well, and Jerry also pulled a knife on him, which he's gotten off of him at this point but hasn't done anything with it. So he beats him to. The ground and that's when Jerry is like trying to apologize to him, and Chester is leaning over him in the grass like holding this knife discreet leave like Larry and Amber and Rachel can't see it.

58:19 Yes, And then he goes. You need to take learn how to take a fucking joke and sticks Jerry right in the ear with this knife. Yes slowly. Oh it's very very rough to watch. Yeah, sticks him right in and naturally he dies. And that's when Chester is just like, oh my god, like I killed him like you guys saw it with self defense, Like I can't do this blah blah blah. You know what, it's okay, you know, I'll call the police. Can you guys do me a favor. Go into the bar and get me a shot of baca. I'll have one more, you know, before the long road for the long walk. This guy, I mean, Chester is simultaneously my greatest nightmare and also my greatest hope. I can see that one day.

59:00 So that's when Rachel and Larry go to the bar, and Rachel immediately is just like, he's not calling the cops, like, we need to call the cops, like right now. So she calls them and the cop actually says, oh no, like the Sheriff's already on the way over there. So Chester actually did call Hey. So he gets the bottle of vodka, turns a corner and there's the bodies of Johnny and Sherry, the nice motel owners that we had heard about previously. So we find out earlier that Chester is working for them tonight and that they're they're out. So he says. Yeah, it's the off season, so they're making him run the bar and the motel. But they're just in the back of the bar, very bloody and stabbed. Yes, both both both of them. You would expect one, but not both. And this scene last night watching it reminded me so much of Near Dark, the way that he approaches Oh and Packson's in the bar with the spurs.

59:48 Oh yeah, no, I totally agree. Yeah. So naturally they find the bodies. They turn around and Chester's there and he's like, oh, I see you found the two love birds. And actually I didn't I didn't kill them. See. What happened was Sherry found out that Johnny had all the hotel rooms rigged with cameras and with some. Pervert blah blah blah. And while this is happening, and throughout this episode, we hear audio cuts of what is either in Chester's brain or what might have happened. We don't know which. Yeah. A few times it's this hawk sound like. Yeah, and then we also hear like Cindy's voice like reading some of the comments sometimes yeah but yeah. And then he basically tells the story we don't know it's true or not, that john got stabbed by Sherry and then he started stabbing her and they just stabbed each other to death.

1:00:29 How romantic Romeo and Juliet stuff, And why would you doubt Chester's word. David, No, I don't know how dare you. It's my bad. I'm sorry, so. One day I'll forgive you. So that's when, while this is happening, Chester's walking across the top of the top of the counter in the diner and just kicking all the glass breaking it very Bill Paxton in Your Dark If you've ever seen that movie and know the scene when he's getting ready to kill the bartender, PC like it. Yeah, no, it reminded me very much. Yeah, so that's like Coyote. Yeah, he just need to turn dance a bar on fire. Yeah. Yeah. So that's when Rachel assures him that she believes him, you know, and you know what, there's nothing to worry about, you know what. Let's all have some shots. So she pours three shots for them and shoots hers down. Larry's getting ready to take his and Chester two. They both shoot theirs down, and then she takes the bottle and wax him right across the head with.

1:01:19 It because she is a woman of finesse. Yeah, so she smashes the bottle over his head. The two go to run, and they go back to the hotel room try to find their keys. And then Chester outside the window has a ghost face moment from screen one where he's just sitting there holding the keys tapping on the window of the hotel room. Really creepy, Oh you think, yeah, just a smidgeon Midge, it's been I don't know if I've ever seen a horror movie where because there have been several set in like out of the way motels and stuff like that, but I've ever seen one where the well initially front desk man now we know it's probably not he probably doesn't really work there, but where they're outwardly terrorizing them. Usually there's like a degree of separation. There's like somebody in a mask or stuff's happening when no one's looking.

1:02:06 Blane Hitcher, yeah, yeah, to where you start to wonder about the hotel staff. Yeah, they're red herrings maybe and maybe it is them. You just don't know. Yeah, but with this one, no, I mean, oddly enough, a way to describe Chester is what you see is what you get, what you get. Yeah, that's like a triple on Tendra because it references plane trains, autobibiles, which I didn't even mean to do. Yeah, and also because Chester is always fucking with. That it is true. So the sheriff suddenly arrives and he goes Chester goes away. Larry and Rachel run out, trying to warn the sheriff. The sheriff thinks that they're the one that killed him, so he's like, you know, down on the ground, and is like getting them on the ground, unaware that Chester is right behind him. Oh of course, and. That's when he's like, you know, oh, I'm so happy you're here, you know, thanks tariff for coming. And that's when Larry goes to charge him, and the cop just tastes him, teases him right down to the ground. So while that's happening, Chester sneaks up takes one of the zip ties that has tied Rachel's hands and takes it right around his throat and just pulls it tight and he strangles him without even doing anything.

1:03:03 Pretty much, Yeah so. How much? I mean at this point, I feel like it's an obscene trope, the trope of the bizarrely easy to kill police officers. I that's something that does generally drive me crazy in horror movies, especially, is when a cop gets out of their car and they're just like, let me take a look I'm just gonna stick my neck through this thing like they want to die. The worst inside by far. No, why did you bring up that? I'm sorry, No, no, they. You know, yeah, I so. I like inside the movie. It's a shocking little horror film, French extreme horror film. Great from the. Height of that era. Yeah, but those cops thing no sense.

1:03:47 They didn't even call in where they went. Because that was the thing that drove me crazy is I was like, well, it doesn't make sense to believe anymore that this woman's gonna get away with stealing this unborn baby, because the whole thing is she's gonna cut the baby out of this woman, yep, and take it for her own, and the cops just like it's so stupid. It was the only part I hated in that. Movie was well, and then the other one that comes to mind always is a cop at the Fry thirteenth remake who goes up to the door and he's like, oh, I'm here, and then Jason just hops down, takes the fire poker and rams it right through his head. But I'm talking more. I mean, I agree, yeah, but I'm talking more about when it's just like a cop starts looking around, and it's like, well, I have no concept of danger whatsoever, even though I'm suspicious.

1:04:29 I mean, one of my favorites that I'm still pissed about to this day because we never got to see, you know, we never get to see it happen is in Cherry Falls, when the killer has completely exposed themselves at the Virgin party, and that's when they're chasing Brittany Murphy and whoever else she's with, and they come to that cop and she's and she's like, you know, the killer's inside. He's like, well, I just can't split. And then the guy cut the killer comes right behind him with the axe and takes it right down his head, which did split him from what I read the screenplay, but we never fucking see it. I'm so sorry, David you had to use that rat infested, rotten roll of old carpet that is your imagination. I love Cherry Falls, but I just really would love to see the original cut. But it's never gonna happen. I mean, if you bought the company.

1:05:11 I mean, Shout tried to put it out when they did their Blu ray, but they couldn't find anything left. Yeah, so but yeah, but so the cop is taken out by this point, and that's when Chester laughs and he slips his zip tie, you know, strangling him. And he also. Takes hold of the taser and just keeps tasing Larry while Rachel watches. I mean, what would you do? So that's so that's when Rachel begs him. Chester then takes her at gunpoint and then knife point cuts the tie from her hands, and that's when he also throws her the car keys and says, you know, hey, I just want to get you guys out of here. You're free to go. Yeah, yeah, So they get in the car, they start driving, and she's like, you know, fuck you Chester driving and she gets basically to nearly the exit of the of the motel, and then we hear a bunch of party horns and we see that Chester has stuffed a bunch of party favors in the tailpipe.

1:06:01 And So were you a prank player when you were younger? Not really? I mean I had my I had my fair share. I did. The one the one that I still laugh about with Mom this day was I had a thing a fingerpaint that was like I had like red, yellow, black and something else. And I remember one day, I just took my thumb and stuck it in the red and then ran out to MOhm and. I was like, ma, I did that to my mom with a blood capsule. I remember your tell felt so she screamed, yeah, bloody murder. Well, blood capsules have a lot of blood in this. I came in the house with the blood capsule going and I literally I fell off my bike and she screamed. I felt so bad. I was probably ten or eleven, Like I wasn't a little kid, you know.

1:06:43 Have I ever told you about the time that I actually did get like injured to my dad thought I was prank that, Like I was like kidding, Like he felt really bad when he realized it. So we had a little like toddler recliner chair that like you laid back and like the foot the foot rest her little children, yeah, like two three year olds maybe even Okay, it was this happened. I mean this happened when I was young. We were at we were at my current my parents current house, so it had to have been like two, three or four, because that's we moved there. I think when I was two. And I just decided one day to stick my hand down the side of it, not sure what I was gonna find. My hand got stuck on a nail. Oh yeah, and so it was probably the staples. Yeah, those are so so naturally.

1:07:27 Like I'm just like, like, you know, it hurts, and I only like so I like, you know, I'm like, I'm I need help. And my dad and he's like, he's like, what's wrong. And I was like, I can't get my hand and he's like, get your hand out, come on, and I was like, I can't get my hands. That's so luckily Dad comes over and pops my hand off of it, and he I'm lucky and lucky that he looked first, because he like his initial reaction was going to be like, yank my hand down, of course. Yeah. So yeah, that was a bit unpleased. So that reminds me of two things. Oh no, one for me and one from my buddy Michelle. Okay, one was my mom. To this day, she'll feel she'll like feel bad if this comes up. Oh god. But so when I my mom went to beauty school for a year and then decided she didn't want to be a hairdresser, which is a hilarious story in and of itself. Because she went to beauty school for a full year and realized had a great realization that touching stranger's hair revolts her. No shit. She was like, this is disgusting. I hate touching stranger's hair. Fair enough, it's disgusting. Yeah, So obviously, you know, being in an esthetician wasn't for her.

1:08:25 So one of the ways we saved money when I was a kid was she would cut my hair and she could do a really good job because she did learn how to cut hair. Yeah, and I never liked getting my haircut when I was a kid. I was this. I would have been like six or seven when this happened, maybe even younger. I never liked to have my haircut, but I would always, you know, I'd always let her cut my hair or whatever. So she's doing she's cutting my hair and she gets the trimmers out, and as she's buzzing my hair, I start going, oh oh, and my mom was like, oh, it is not that bad. We're just getting your hair cut. She starts doing all like, ah, stop it hurts, and she's like just stop. And then she's like, this isn't cutting your hair very well. It wasn't moving, so she was just ripping my hair out.

1:09:09 She was just dragging it through. Yeah, I no wonder that would hurt. Yeah, like a bitch, Yeah yeah, yeah. Yeah. She felt really bad. She was like, oh, the blade's not moving. I was like, yeah, why do you think I was screaming? It paid. Just pulsating. But this one's not as long because it's not my story. But my buddy Michelle when she was a kid, she used to to cry a lot and get upset a lot, and one time she was it's actually like such a perfect example of Michelle. She was running through the neighborhood and there was a neighborhood boy she was friends with, and he was chasing her and she wanted him to catch her, so she decided to fall on purpose so we could catch her. So she did and dislocated her shoulder. Oh wait, no, no, no, no, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. No, no, no, she broke her arm.

1:09:56 I know, right, Why is that funnier? David, you're a bad person. I won't know. Yeah, you know, it is perfect. So she broke her arm and says she goes back at her house and is like, my arm and he's like, okay, Michelle, Now she's the oldest too, So she's the first kids like, oh, okay, Michelle, just go sit down, it'll be fine. She's like, no, it really hurts. He's like, just go relax, calm down. She's like so, I don't know how long it was, but I think she said it was like an hour or two later she was like, it still really hurts. He was like, they go to the doctor. He's like it's broken, and he's like, oh no, yeah. Yeah, that would be bad. Last last one. Did have ever told you the story about what I wrecked?

1:10:39 The scooter? Was it your razor scooter? No? No, this was like this is a motorized Oh that's way more dangerous. Yeah, power. Yeah. So my dad had gotten this scooter. I don't know if he I don't know if he'd gotten it in a trade. Or he had stolen, you know, from the Russian. And we were at Dave's Services, and you know the gravel lot and everything back there. You've been there, so you know. So we were right by that fence and area where the parking lot is, but on the back where the garage and the other garages. He's like, yeah, go ahead and try it. I'd never ridden a motorcycle. I'd never ridden, never driven, like, you know, anything that had the throttle. I've had four wheelers, so I've had a button like that. I've never had anything. So when you panic, Oh.

1:11:20 This is a scooter you stood on, right, this is a scooter that you sit sat on. Like a moped. Okay, okay, I gotcha, gotcha. So I've never had a throttle, so, you know, I get on it and I'm like, you know, oh, it's a little fast, so I want to stop. Well I start, you know, panicking and like, you know, trying to pull it back. Well, I ran right into the fence with it and screwed it up pretty good, but also screwed myself up to where I was bleeding and everything. And we were joking. I literally joked about this. Actually a couple of days ago. Dad got pissed about the scooter despite the fact that I'm on the ground bleeding. And you're insured, not the scooter. Now, my mom comes out and she's like Dave. His dad's also named Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that that sounds like something my stepdad would have said, Like I would like, I would like run into a wally because the wall. Okay, we laugh about.

1:12:07 A day, but like it was little, like, God, damn it, David, did you. Have to go to the hospital. No, Like, yeah, it'd be so much funnier if you died, but they they'd like resuscitated. Nothing was as worse, and I didn't. I didn't go to the hospital for this, But nothing was as worse as I used to do. I used to be the groundskeeper there and one day somebody had thrown like several CDs into it into like the tall grass, and I was mowing them and they hit my legs and shrap them a little bit. It's bad enough when there's like a thick stick or rocks get tossed. Yeah. Well, since we're talking about childhood injuries, have I ever told you the story about Okay, so when you were a kid and you would play on like monkey bars or something, what's the thing they always threatened you would happen if you were reckless. Because for me, I don't know if this is just a Kentucky thing or if all parents said this, but I was always told, like you do that you're gonna crack your head open.

1:12:57 You just hear the ad nausea, parents, grandparents, aunt uncle's, teachers, You do that, You're gonna crack your out of it. So anyway, I was on some monkey bars and I got I finally got myself upside down. I'd always wanted to be upside down. And then my hands slipped. I cracked my head open. Oh jeez, I landed on a rock and I cracked my head open. David. I didn't crack my head open. But have you ever gotten like the wind fiercely knocked out of you, like to where like you fall on the ground and you cannot catch your breath. The reason I'm giving you that look, David. Is because you just cracked your head open. Well, first of all, I got five stitches. Yeah, No, I mean I literally cracked my hea open. Like I I walked to the back door. This was at my babysitter's house, and the knocked on my and I literally like I fell off the jungleed him and she screamed.

1:13:43 I was covered in blood. I had no idea anyway. But to your point, the reason I was giving you that look abou knocked out of you? Is, Yes, what is the only education I ever completed? Professional wrestling school? Yes, many times. Your monkey bars story made me think of this. I was at I was at my preschool, and they even told us, like, you know, no jumping the monkey bars because you would try and swing and jump on to the next one. I was doing really good, and then I got to that fourth one and missed and completely went down, like onto the ground like as a little kid, and like I remember feeling like. Oh, I'm dead, Like that's that was like the instant thing I. Used to get shoved off the playground equipment by bullies. Yeah, m and I remember many times where you hit just But this sounds so sad because it is I got used to it. I mean not like used to it, like it was fine, but I got used to it, as in I would hit the ground really hard and feel that all the airs out of me, and I would be like, I'm not dying. Yeah, it's just what happens when assholes shoved you off the fucking jungle gym and you land on grass. So they were really nice kids.

1:14:44 Last story, did I ever tell you about the year that my sister and I sent each other to the emergency room on different holidays, like as a gift, So Christmas Eve one year, I can't remember the specific year it was, but Christmas Eve, we were at my aunt Barb's house and the kids were upstairs. There was like a Nintendo. Age five or six and her she's three years older, so yeah eight nine. Yeah, so you know, kids being kids. There's two beds up there. It's it's my uncle's old room. So the brothers were up there and we were jumping from bed to bed. Of course, you know that's what you know, Yeah. Nights standing between and you know, then it became at one point, you know, it was just like, well we could push each other when we like jump at each other.

1:15:26 And then she pushed me too hard and my head went into the back of the night stand. Yeah, so immediately I was just like ow that hurt. Yes, took my hand away, blood crying, and then Eric is like, let's go find mom and dad. So we go downstairs. I go to the emergency room on New Years or on the Christmas Eve, get stitches. So then that year Memorial Day, we're at my cousin Jimmy's house and we're playing croquet and I decided to tiger woods it with the ballot behind me, not realizing that my sister was behind me. So I could like that and I get some resistance like punk, and Erica goes like oh, David, and I'm like, oh, like I'm sorry. Well, then I hear her go over to my parents and like she's like, you know, my face hurts an air and my mom's like, oh my god, Erica, you're bleeding. And I cracked her like right across, like she still has the scar to this day, like right here.

1:16:16 Yeah. So because your scalp and your eyebrow are so easy to split too, that's actually that makes me laugh because, uh, I asked my mom why everybody was freaking out so bad after I cracked my head open, and she said, well, there was a lot of blood. I don't remember that, yeah, but she was like there's a lot of blood. I was like, yeas scalpulons do that. And she was like, Ricky, your forehead was split open, and I was like my forehead and she was like yeah, it was scary. Yeah, I bet yeah. And then my stepdad was like you look like Frankenstein. Sounds like yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, what do you want? You know? But I don't know how old I was, but I don't remember a lot actually before that or after that. The best was to wrap that story up, was that year my aunt Barb had always has an annual four the July party, and it was like right, a couple hours into it and she goes, ladies.

1:17:04 Gentlemen, I just want to make announcement. It is now like three PM and Dave and Sean have not been to the emergency room yet. Yeah, because those were both Those were both gatherings on my dad's side of the family where that was. So after all these years, you still stick into the You didn't know she's behind you, huh? I did not. I swear I did not as your as your friend, I don't know if I believe you, but as your attorney, I'm proud of you. I did not sticking to stick into that store. I like the thing is like to like, I I didn't watch golf, Like I really didn't even know who Tiger once was. I just took the mallet and was like, I'm gonna hit this ball. No, I clocked my sister right in the head. So in a way, I mean, you scored it a double.

1:17:45 I don't know how croquet works, but I don't. Know the rules anymore. Oh, we just try and knock the ball through the through the hoop. I think you want to hit a stick. Eventually you can. You go through all the hoops and then you hit a stick. I have not played croquet since I hit single or double digits. To be honest, we used to have croquet said a lot of like we had. We went through at least two of them when it's say growing up. Because they kept geting covered in blood. Well, croquet mallet's actually with Jack Nicholson or what Jack not napier Jack Torrance Torrance, Yeah, using the novel Yeah, and then Stephen King to the mcgarris one. Yeah, which was a little bit more faithful. Yeah, that's why the child gang Bang is still in it. That's not that story.

1:18:25 I thought it was all of Stephen King's story. No, no Greece or gang Bang. Oh yeah, that checks out, Oh, Stevie King. So by this point, Larry and Rachel have had their car stopped and Chester is walking up on them. The entire reason I started this, and I didn't tell you the story. Here we go. That's so funny. I didn't even I didn't even get you. I didn't even tell you why I was bringing it up. Yeah, So my mom and my stepdad they liked to go and visit my aunt and uncle, my cousin Jeff's parents Jeff, and they would all well, first of all, my cousin Jeff was a little shit and he taught me horrible things when I was a kid, and he loved it. He was only I think he's only four years older than me. One of the things he figured out was if we just started, he would literally tell me go into the living room because they're all sitting in there, like smoking cigarettes and drinking beers and they're all, you know, toasted, And he'd be like, go out there and just start complaining, report and they'll give you money. It works because he had figured it out because we started doing that at first, when we go to Marian's Pizza and they'd all start drinking and having fun.

1:19:30 We'd come and we we'd arcade money. But we would literally go into the arcade and just stand there for like three minutes, and then they would ask for more money to play arcade games. Wow. Oh, it's so. It's almost as good as like driving your drunk buddy in a circle and saying we need gas. Three times. Yeah, But. That wasn't the only shittery he'd get me into There was a birthday party, I think it was at his house, and we stole a bunch of the balloons that hadn't been used, that weren't inflated. We filled them up and we put them behind everybody's tires so when they left, they heard like loud pop sounds. And I will say, I will say he took the fall on that one. He did not. Yeah, I mean, of course, I was literally just doing what he told me. He was the cool older kid. Yeah, but yeah, we put that just made me think of it because of the kazoos and the tailpipe made me think of it made me think of that. Also, there's no way that the tailpipe could actually make the kazoos make a sound, because you have to hum. To make kazoos make a sound, you have to hum into the mual blow you hum. One time, I was trying to learn how to be a good kazoo player, and I accidentally was playing so intensely accident inhaled and pulled the little piece of plastic that vibrates into my throat. Oh God, I was alone in my house.

1:20:40 I wish I could say I was a kid. I was twenty one. I was living alone in Jersey, and I sat there hacking and coughing and hacking and coughing until it finally came out. And then I just stared at it and I was like, you know, if that had been the end of me, how poetic. I gotta tell you about the time I swallowed a cigarette butt. Which time, So I was driving probably on seven five, and I'd finished my butt and I went to throw it out the window, and the wind caught it and blew it right back into my mouth. That's funny. And I didn't puke by force or by by but what I didn't puke unless it was by choice. So I pulled over to the side and stuck my fingers down its like full Oh it went down. Yeah, and thank god it wasn't on fire. Well I would have went out, but it would have burned a little bit.

1:21:26 They're not that hard to put out. I I was still an embarrassing moment. You think no one saw it, so no one knew, and yet you tell the story. Yeah, that's that's been a while ago. Yeah, Thursday, two weeks so so so so the car stopped and that's when they get out and start running. And by this point, of course, Larry's injured. He's been taste several times, so he's going pretty slow. So he ends up collapsing on the ground and we see Chesters carrying a doctor's bag with him this time. Yeah, which I'm sure is because he's helpful. Yes, totally helpful. He's got a gun in a doctor's bag and he pulls the bag open and gets a little like face mask. Oh yeah, yeah, face mask, puts it on Larry and starts pumping and she and Rachel's like, what is that. He's like, good, laughing gas, of course, so she picks up the gun, goes to fire on him, but it's all six chambers are empty, so she clicks it and then that's when he tackles her, puts the gas on her, and everybody takes a nice little trip to Lalla, a little relaxing Naperino naparino indeed. So Larry comes to his body is completely numb. He's floating on the raft in the pool, and we see that Chester is just enjoying himself, surrounded by the bodies of.

1:22:31 Jerry, the sheriff, Johnny and Sherry. They're all decked out in and Luau attire, and he's enjoyed a pineapple drink. Of course. Yeah, what else you gonna do on a nice dancing in the Moonlight's plan? It is so perfect. So that's when Chester tells him, you know, hey, man, be careful, like you know, your body's not heal. I don't want you to fall off the raft and drown. He pulls him out of the pool and Larry's still coming down from all this, and that's when Larry asks, you know, well, where's Rachel. And he's like, oh, well, you know, she's just changing. Well let's go and see her. Yeah, So he he's walking him over to the to the hotel room and he's like, you know, and now, buddy, you know, I want you to know you fuck things up, Like I had a huge plan, but you guys kind of fuck things up. But you know what, it's okay, We're gonna adapt. Yeah, of course, And that's when he takes him into the hotel room, sits him down, and he wants him to basically explain who he is, because by this point he's also gave him a little shot of mascow mescal along with the laughing gas, and Larry's feeling no pain, and he basically confesses that he is programming Flaw and that he has done all these horrible things.

1:23:32 Programming Flaw is alter ego. It's who he can be. He's full of bitterness, and that was the persona he created. And while this is happening, Chester's filling this on Larry's phone, and that's when he's like, you know, all right, man, you know, I'm so proud of you. I can't believe you did that. And Larry's like, you know, what, can I see Rachel? He's like, yeah, yeah, go ahead on. She's just in there, Rachel, come on out. Nothing happens. So he opens the bathroom door and immediately is just crushed, sad, crying. He's like, you know, no, oh no, no, no no, and we see that Rachel's been strangled. He's put a mask on her, that he takes off, a wig on her, and. There's no doubt. She is cold. She's gray, she is gray, blue, gray, whatever you want to call it. And now is when the laughing stops. Yeah, the laughing stop for the audience.

1:24:17 No, the crying, the crying stops because he starts crying and he's like, you know, you said she was okay, and he's like, well, I had to have a little insurance policy. I mean, yeah, a lot of things. Yeah, so Larry is just fetal position balling, and that's when suddenly the balling turns to laughter and Chester at first, who's smoking a cigaret on the bed. It is just like, you know what's going on? Man, He's like, it's it's really funny. He's like, you know, this whole thing has been funny, like you know, of course those people died. They didn't get it. This is a great joke. You're really funny. He's lost it by this point. Yes, so, and this is where the film flies into its final lives and its final conclusion really really wild, yeah and perfect. Just such a smart way to go with the film.

1:24:58 So that's when he also confesses that he posted his confession to Cindy's page and also made it on his account and admitted that he's programming flaw and everybody is flying at him in the comments that he's pathetic. Oh here's one of my favorite ones. It just says die, that's a good comment. Cindy even comments and is just like, you're so pathetic. I never loved you, you know, I never liked that. Yeah, so That's when you know, he's like, you know, Chester, you're hilarious. You know all the everything that's been a night. You know, it's been a great breath of fresh air. But all you know, Larry, all good things must come to an end. And Chester goes to pull a gun on him and he's like, oh, this is this can't be the end. He's like, I got an idea. What if we crash the wedding. We take my sister's body, you and me, you know, the wedding's on a hill, will go there. And Chester is just immediately just like, yeah, well let's do this, man. So they're carrying Rachel's body out through the parking lot and that's when he's like, you know, we'll take Rachel's car and Chester's like are you sure, and he's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll drive, I'll drive.

1:25:52 Don't worry. Rachel would never let you drive. Well here's the thing. So now Larry's basically insane. So he's like, she would never let you drive her car? Is that okay? Rate, they're like talking. Talk the course which they put in the back seat, and did we skip. The ayahuasca part? No? I just said, oh sorry, I just want to make sure we got that. Yeah. So also there's these weird moments where they're talking to each other and their eyes are getting bigger. Now things are shifting. Knowing that a music the music video director is the one behind this makes a lot more sense on this watch too. I could see that. Yeah. So that's when they get in the car, they start driving, they leave the motel, and that's when Larry behind the wheel, is like, hey, Chester, can I tell you a joke? And he's like, yeah, man, of course I love this ending is so good. And he's like, there's two guys.

1:26:34 We'll call him Chester driving the car. We'll call him Chester and Larry. All right, well you know what what's a what? What is? I can't remember the exact chess. Chester's eating it up. I'll take the lead on. So he's like, so two idiots are driving a car. He's like, yeah, he's like just driving down the road. We'll call him Chester and Larry. He's like, okay, okay, He's like, and his sister's in the back seat, but she's not saying much of any don't interrupt the punchline, Rachel. He's like, so, as you're driving down the road, Larry looks to Chester and says, hey, Chester, who do you wish you were right now? And he's like what, Chester says what? So he goes what and he's like, well, Chester should wish he was Rachel's dog, Hercules, Hercules. And then Chester said why would I want to be Hercules? So then Chester goes, well, why would I want to be here? I love that.

1:27:27 I love this part because when he says what Chester says, the joke Chester plays because he's loving, He's. Loving, it's loving. It's a wild card for him. So that's when he goes he goes into well, you know, Rachel loved this dog, you know, loved it a little too much, might. Say, even maybe loved it more than her me and me, which is really sad. Well, because she's dead, you mean y Yeah, No, it's it's super sad because it's very clear that she was the one real thing brand yeah, that he had going for him. Yeah. So that's when he's like, you know, and Rachel loved this dog so much that you know, she had him ride in the front seat with him, even made some alterations. To the car. Yeah, because even though it was illegal, she buckle him in yep. And we meet. We see shots of this wall, little dog. Being buckled up in this front seat. He's like, so she made a little alteration of the car. You see.

1:28:11 She didn't want hercules to get hurt, so when he was buckled in, she disabled the passenger side airbags. And Chess is like, you know, oh did she? And he's like yeah, He's like, so, what's the punchline. The punchline is, I'm gonna drive us into this fucking wall, and. He just starts the inser speed up. Now, of course, this whole time, Chester has a gun on h Yeah, and he's like, you wouldn't do. That, and he's like, He's like, Larry wouldn't. Larry wouldn't put on a programming flaw. And then it just hits the wall. But they cut to this cutaway of this this dog plush in this carrier that hits this wall and gets thrown and. Then that's it. That is twenty nineteen's I'm just fucking with it. And the reason I love that is, first of all, the joke, it's it's perfectly done. Yeah, but think about Larry, Larry, who is I'm gonna pose this to you, who's the what's the most dangerous kind of.

1:29:02 Person, somebody who doesn't care about anyone. Yeah, someone who has nothing, nothing to lose. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, he's he's he's got nothing. I mean he he might survive the crash, but who cares. What I love about the end credits is that we see that, like through natural Reddit and and Internet Detective fame, he becomes the number one suspect, and that there might have been Rachel might have been his accomplice. Like there's no mention of Chester whatsoever. It's all pinned on Larry and Rachel. Oh yeah. So like we see through the credits and we also see the programming flaws back, which I don't know if it's Chester or Larry for that matter. I think, well, I think the idea is that maybe if I was to read it heavily, Yeah, maybe the idea is just that that kind of of of absurd id mindset just never goes away, or it's always on the internet.

1:29:52 Yeah, it's just always on the internet. Yeah, but yeah, that is that. I mean that that ending is just perfect. And I forgot about that ending until like it's started happening and I was like, oh I remember this. Yeah, No, it's it's the perfect ending. And I cannot get over that he sets it up as a joke, because if there's one thing people who spend any amount of time around me, no, it's I love a good joke, you do. I love set up hosted joke punchline. Yeahere you had to bring a dirty joke in order to enter. Yep. And I love a shaggy dog joke. I love a joke that takes forever to get to the. Punchlinetle Johnny's are my favorite still. Well, those were the ones that that the bikers love to exchange when I was a kid, so some of the first jokes I knew were really inappropriate, Little Johnny, I bet, well, these guys, you know, these guys weren't really worried about going to prison, so I don't think they really cared about, you know, being politically correct. Yeah, but not. They had a lot of great ones. Almost all of them were either racial or to tell you what time it was when it was happening, or they were about Bill Clinton.

1:30:51 Yeah that also tracks and this was this was this was. Like right in the middle of the big scandal. Yeah, so there were a lot of Bill Clinton jokes. But yeah, I think what I love most about I'm Just Fucking with You is it's it's got all the makings of a psychopath in a motel like story, but like we don't really follow any of the tropes. They make their own. Yeah, definitely, because I mean even. The body count even yeah it's four technically five, it's really not that big, and it's not very frequent, like the one. The only death we get on screen, well, the only two desks we get on screen are the cop and Jerry. Yeah that's it. Yeah, but of course they're the scariest ones because the two people who should be most able to protect themselves, Yeah, a mean biker and a cop. Yeah, and they get dispatched just like nothing. And I mean, Chester is like a combination of a like the What's it?

1:31:39 What's the unknown? Comic kind of has that feel to him, but also just has a moment of he could be your friend, but he you gotta laugh at his jokes, and if you laugh at his jokes, you're good. If to piss him off or you're rude to him, you're gonna die, you know what. One of my first thoughts was when we were watching that movie, the first time and even the second time, one of my which didn't turn out. Yeah, one of the thoughts I had at one point was I was like, what if there was no Chester? What if Chester was the final the final summation, the final representation of his hatred, anger and insanity. Obviously that didn't turn out to be the case, but I'd wondered for a minute. I was like, what if he was, you know, what if this was?

1:32:20 I genuinely wonder how long he's been there because the camera thing is such a good red herring. I mean, it really doesn't get. It doesn't really get. He could have actually worked there. The cops seemed to not be surprised to see him, yeah, which could suggest that he worked there. But then again, like the biker Gerald having said that he was nice getting to know you man, so that there's even that moment where it's like nobody has placed whether or not he works here. No, it's a very big question because also if he doesn't work there, is he just a guy who wanted to go frigging crazy on April Fool's Day? Or could he have painstakingly planned all this like he said, and he's just like, you know, you fucked up my plan. So he could have been working there and waiting for the right time to snap. Yeah, he could have been working. You know what. I just had a thought. You know what, he could have been there to do. What's that He could have been there to kill his bosses, because remember how much he hated them. He was like, they make me work while they get to go on vacation in the off season. Yeah, I don't get any support. What if he was gonna set up Jerry for the murder, it's entirely biker. He had a knife. Yeah, he looked like he looked like a dangerous guy. He could have been trying to set Jerry up. He could have. He could have, but he can't help himself. Such a fucking psycho, he said. Chester is a great character and a great role for that actor who is horribly underutifles.

1:33:37 MacArthur steals this. I would love to see Hazen more movies. Yeah. Same, So as you can tell, we both love this one. Highly recommended for this one as giving an honorable mention this week. Yeah, we like to mention another great into the Dark because we only have five episodes, five or four. Next week's Oh yeah, yeah, it's next month, five episodes. We only have four episodes to give you the best of twenty four, so we double the odds. Yeah, so this week we are gonna go with the opener of season two, which was twenty nineteen's Uncanny Annie, which says, on Halloween night, a group of college students get trapped in a serious board game that brings their darkest secrets and fears to life, where they must play to escape and win to survive. Yes, so, Kenny Annie was a lot of fun if you have if you're familiar with Jumanji, which how could you not be, it has kind of that same it feel to it, but more so if you've ever seen or heard of the movie The Blackwaters of Echo Pond, which was an Anchor Bay mid Aughts slasher that's also about a demonic board game.

1:34:34 Uncanny Annie just has a bunch of play, not just on the board game itself, but on the people that you play it with. Because you're with your friends. It's a nice you know, Friday night near Halloween. We're having a good time. We're in costumes. Oh, you've betrayed me x amount of years ago, and now it's gonna come back and haunt you. Yes, it's so good. That's a really really good one. And I was impressed because they you know, obviously it's a horror series. Yeah. So it starts in October, and that's where they got to have the most fun, right. I mean that and Christmas are like the two chances you have to really like go eight because those are the big holidays everybody celebrates. Yeah, so I think they did a great job. You go into the board game like it's there's dark darkness around you, like you may be in this house.

1:35:17 But then if it's your turn, you go into the board game there's stalking happening. Yeah, it's creepy. I really liked it. So we also like the on the show. With a couple of recommendations. The first two I've got this week are from nineteen eighty six, most recently saved for us on four K and blu Ray. The Hitcher, starring Rugger Howard and Thomas and C. Thomas House, such a good movie. A young man who escapes the clutches of a murderous hitchhiker is subsequent subsequently stalked by the Hitcher and framed for his crimes. If you have not seen the hitcher you need to it's widely available now. It has been out of circulation for some time. It was even on Max and it's not on Nax anymore. Yeah, yeah, it was. It was kind of like a legendary, like bootlegs at conventions, a movie from time. A lot of those HBO made for TV movies and stuff were.

1:36:04 And then my second recommendation is going to be two thousand and seven's Vacancy Stranded in an isolated motel. A couple become the unsuspecting subjects of a snuff film. So since you brought that up, Yeah, I fucking love vacancy. I love vacancy. But do you like terror Trap? You mean vacancy? But honestly, though Tarror Trap's good terror Trap. The only problem with terror Trap is after I watched it, man, I really enjoyed that. Yeah, I was like, I should revisit Vacancy. It is straight ripoff. They rip off the story, beats, they everything. But terror Trap is just a stupider So it's more fun as to where Vacancy is very upsetting and very and very mean spirited.

1:36:52 Have you ever seen a vacancy to first cut? What do you think I liked it. I thought it was dezent again. It was more fun, though Vacancy was a lot more straightforward, a lot more It's still a really good movie. Terror Trap and Vacant and Vacancy too, we're a little bit more just wild rides. Yeah, but I love as a person who travels a lot and has stayed at a lot of hotels, and I've stayed at a lot of hotels in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, I actually generally prefer them as long as they're not. You know, they got to be a chain, yeah, and not have a drug deal, possibly go down with an eyeshot of checking in Oh Memphis. Now, I do want to give one loose recommend because I'm not I'm not a Steig fan.

1:37:34 It's not identity, is it. No, Okay, then we're good, Okay, good. Yeah. I'm not a big fan of Identity, but. There are things I love about Identity, specifically the setting and the atmosphere of grayt the rainy, the rainy hotel, and and just you don't know who anybody is. Everybody's kind of a stranger to one another, and with that comes the cast. I miss those early two thousands blockbusters, big casts that we're all around psychological thrillers, thrillers in general along came as. Even though Identity is not a great ending, not a great film, I still think if you haven't seen, it's absolutely worth a watch. And it has that feel of isolation in a motel that kind of this one has as well. Yeah, I would have to agree very much. So my recommendation.

1:38:16 I decided to avoid hotels and instead go with what happens when you make a movie with so many pranks in it that you have no idea what's going on. Oh and this one's a little on the nose because I've always loved it. But I'm going with Arthur Penn's nineteen eighty nine Penn and Teller Get Killed, which had, by the way, the best tagline you've ever heard. You know what it is? I can't remember goes what more do you want? That is solid? So the reason I love Penn and Teller Get Killed. We I'll give you the description. The bad boys of Magic go over the edge in this mind blowing role switching comedy murder mystery set in the dizzying world of Atlantic City casinos. So that's a decent description because you can't really describe Penn and Teller get killed. Yeah.

1:39:00 But the great thing, and there are many things about this movie. It's hard to find, but it's actually you can rent a standard definition or buy a standard definition version on Prime Video, so it's the most available it's been for a very long time. Yeah, this is a movie where if you're a fan of Penn and Teller, I've been a fan of them my whole life. You know that when they do performances, when they do whatever, they have a lot of jokes that don't really land, yeah, but make them lose their shit. This movie is only that. Yeah, and that's why it wasn't a big hit because it is really really subversive, really really weird, confusing as shit. Yeah, don't even try to follow the story, but it has some of the best things.

1:39:43 So basically the big thing that they don't mention in here is it all starts with Pendulette and Teller going on a version of like this of the Johnny Carson Show, and basically I think it was called like America Tonight or some shit. It's like the most watched late night show. And after they perform, then does a bit where he says, like wouldn't it be not like I just wish someone were trying to kill me. Wouldn't that make life so much more exciting? I'm sorry, dear. I would love to go to the to the the family dinner at the whatever, but people are trying to kill me. So and no, I can't really wash the dishes because well there's a window facing out from over the sink. Yeah, And then the gag on the show is that then Teller turns and stabs him and there's like blood everywhere, and it's you know, it's just a gag. But afterward they go to the airport and Penn is at the airport and this guy walks up, who excuse me, are you interested in learning about the Word of God or whatever? And they play a joke on him. It's a whole thing.

1:40:37 But then afterward he goes, wait, aren't you the guy that that goes on television asking people to kill him? He's like, I did that once, yeah, and he goes and then he opens his Bible and pulls out a gun and goes bang bang. He doesn't shoot him, he just goes, bang, bang, You're dead. Be careful what you ask for? He then and he walks away and then tell her and then pen goes find out the exact demographics of that show. So so at one point though later in the movie, he's walking along and he gets shot in the arm. He's like, ah god, you know. He's like screaming, and this one walks and he's like, are you okay. He's like, no, I just got shot in the arm. And she's like, wait, you're that dumb guy who went on television asking people to kill him, didn't you. He's like yeah, among other things, and she's like, well, you're lucky. I'm not a psycho or i'd kill you right now, like you're really lucky. He's like, yes, I am lucky, mister lucky. Just got shot in the arms.

1:41:27 There are so many great moments. There are so many great moments and so many fake outs where you think they're about to die and then it's a prank or worse yet, they think it's a prank and then it's not. But then they're not afraid to do like a triple fake out. Where it's totally real, totally real, totally a prank, totally real, totally real, totally real, a prank. It's a great film that really throws you for a loop. You cannot follow it perfectly. The ending is perfect and it ends with I started a joke, which is perfect. I love Penn and Teller get Killed. It's one of those forgotten little gems because it came out it flopped so bad. Warner Brothers didn't care to do anything with it. It's directed by goddamn Arthur Penn.

1:42:08 You know who would put it out at this point if anybody was to get a hold of the show. God, I would love a collector's edition of Penn and Teller Get Killed. But that's so, that's my recommendation because talk about a perfect movie about pranks on top of pranks on top of pranks. That's Ped and Teller get Killed. So we do have emails? Oh okay, so. I believe we had two of the last I checked. If you want to send us an email, by the way, all you have to do is send it to do you even movie pod at gmail dot com or go to dooevenmovie dot com. Send us an email. We'd love to hear from you. This first one is from mister Eric Whiting, Oh, director of Primordial and Ragmork and my good buddy. He said, Hey, guys, it's Eric Whiting. Oh we knew. I have enjoyed your recent episodes, especially wind River, which has been a favorite of mine since its released.

1:42:58 I feel like I've watched wind River Eric at least twice. That he puts with the recent passing of Michelle Trachtenberg, I was wondering if you would be interested in covering two thousand and four's film two thousand and four Films. She appeared in Greg Rkerry Arkay's Archais Sorry Mysterious Skin. That is a rough movie. I have not seen it in a good bit. I would be willing to revisit it. I don't know if it would be a good show. I've never seen it. It's rough. Yeah, it's rough. I mean me and Greg Akary. That's my third name. I think that's the last name. Then he said I saw it for the first time this week after hearing about it in passing for years. It's hard hitting and uncomfortable in many ways. Yeah, but excellent and ripe for discussion. If not, that might be a good cutting, deep episode. If that isn't a good fit for the show. A couple of other modern recommendations I have are uncut gems, absolutely I love uncut gems yelling the movie just like, what would there be to discuss everything?

1:43:57 Green Room, it's there able to the green Room was going to be on the show Blue Ruin took its spot because green Room unfortunately is not available anything. And I will say to you as the day of we were recording this, it is Antony Yelkin's birthday. Oh wow, yeah, well happy birthday. Man taken way too soon? Yeah, what a great actor. Yeah, Circario absolutely, I love Cacario. The sound of Metal, Oh. Wow, I would have seen that in a while. It's good. That's I would be down for that. And his last one. We need to talk about Kevin. That is one that would definitely fit. I haven't seen it. You haven't seen it? No, Oh you don't think so. Oh it's good. It's not ringing a bell. It's the one where with Tilda Swinton and John c Riley where their son they suspect is a killer and their son is played by Ezra Miller.

1:44:43 I don't think I saw it. It's good. It's really good. Dark. There's a name you don't hear much as Miller. And then our second email is from Patrick Hunter. Oh good buddy, Patrick Rick is the subject lines into the Dark. Hi, guys, I think it's awesome you're doing into the Dark. My favorite would be my favorite pro would be New Year New You. Oh wait, no, it's it would be program Okay, New Year Knew You Down? Which we covered yep, culture and Culture Shock. Culture Shock. Yeah, Culture Shock is an interesting one. Program. Which one's that is that the current occupant. It's possible it's a typo and I'm confusing myself. Yeah, let me check. I mean, it wouldn't be the first time I've confused myself. Just chicking here. But no, New Year Knew You we we talked about last week. Fantastic.

1:45:26 Yeah, that's a really great one. Was the other ones? New Year Knew You Down? And Culture Shock? Culture Shock? Yeah, Culture Shock. It's not Culture Shocks. Not bad, It's not one of my favorites. The reveal at the end was kind of predictable. Well, my big problem was that it spoon fed it too much. Yeah, like it went it went too hard. Poon fed because remember at the one point they feed them. Yeah, hell. Oh, let's see body pook. I don't I think it may have just been a typo and I'm reading it like a moron.
