An appeals court has ruled that Marius Borg Hoibi will remain in pre trial detention, rejecting his request to be released while awaiting a verdict. The decision means he is expected to stay in custody until the court delivers its ruling, which is anticipated in early June. Earlier this month, Hoeby had asked to be released. That request was denied by the lower court, and his legal team appealed. The appeals court has now reached the same conclusion. His defense attorney Ellen Holiger and Danaeus said, we take note of the decision. The court reasoning is centered on what it describes as a continued risk that Hoibi would commit new offenses if released. In its written decision, the court states there is strong poss ssability that he would commit further crimes, carrying a potential sentence of more than six months. A key factor in that assessment is an incident that took place while he was already in custody during the trial, maybe breached a restraining order involving the woman often referred to as the Frogner Woman. According to the court, he arranged through a third party to send her flowers in a letter on Valentine's Day. The court writes that this further supports the qualified risk of reoffending.

The court rejected that argument, noting that the cases received extensive coverage for months and stating that this attention has not prevented the accused from being suspected of new criminal acts. The court also pointed out that Hoybe does not have employment or obligations that would be significantly affected by continued detention, making it easier to justify keeping him in custody. The result is straightforward. He remains in prison, and he is expected to remain there until a verdict is delivered. While the legal situation continues to unfold, the formal work of the monarchy has not stopped. On Tuesday, as King Philippe and Queen Matilda of Belgium began their state visit to Norway, Crown Princess Metamori made an appearance at the Royal Palace in Oslo. Her presence had not been expected. Prior to the visit, Palace communications had indicated that she would not take part due to her health. Uryvarpe had said the Crown Princess's health has deteriorated, which is why she's not currently listed in the program for the state visit.
