The Unwritten Favor
In The Unwritten Favor, the party enters the Frostline Watchtower and comes face to face with Nyros.
A new faction is revealed, and they believe memory should never be owned, erased, or hoarded. Truth must be spoken. Once faced, it should be allowed to rest.
Nyros offers a bargain tied to truth and consequence. The party must decide how far they are willing to go once a confession is complete and silence is no longer an option.
This episode focuses on tension, authority, and responsibility. No clear villains. No clean victories. Only choices that leave marks.
What happens after the truth is spoken matters more than the truth itself.

That wasn't simple morning quiet. The hearth sat dead, the air thinned, and Qasdea's door answered.
0:46 No knock. Inside, her room was stripped of order. Belongings scattered like a storm had moved through. While she stood still, Osisa found the note on the bedside table, Qasdea's script sharp with resolve. Something from Pyre Heart had followed. Knew her name and Orion's. She would not risk the agents distance with strategy. Do not look for me, her oath held. Osisa sent a soft benediction into the ledger's lines and received nothing back but silence. In Zebulon's map room 3 sealed plans from relvain pages clearly born from a high oath. Binders Ledger flared warm on the wall. Map Black Glass, Causeway, Cinder Reach, Vault, Frost Line, Watchtower.
1:36 Mimi's sharp eye flagged the Providence, and Osisa argued for caution. The agents agreed to share only minimal updates upward until they understood who pulled which strings they picked Frost Line first, gathered cold weather cloaks, rune chalk, and a single memory bloom, and stepped into the Shatter Peaks. A mirroring drift awaited them. Snow turned to ground glass and light that lied. Svara and Zebulun took painful tumbles into sudden drops while Mimi flowed across the treachery and Osisa read the warp well enough to shepherd the line. Glaive and Harkum rejoined at a fork and at Frost Line's base, a pink haired artificer with a buzzing companion. Nick's ember coil flashed fire and nerves before the sight of their Ledger eased her stance.
2:29 The final approach demanded intent. Glaive blinked Harkum near the doors. Mimi bounded with predatory grace. Savara sprinted through biting eddies, absorbing the cold sting. Nix misjudged once and came away singed but stubborn, then landed true. Zebulon tried a mirror step gambit that went sideways, dropped hard, and Asisa's prayer threaded A narrow path through the interference to set his knee right. Harcum shouldered a pull door the wrong way and still forced it, an axe clattering from a trip rig as they entered. Inside, heat pulsed through a split syndicate conduit while failing ward rings glowed like embers around the chamber.
3:14 Snow sublimated in mid air. The tower felt alive and overheated, a heart laboring in a chest of stone. Footsteps sounded from above, measured, unhurried. Nairos descended, calm and precise, amber light tracing his eyes as the conduit's pulse answered his nearness. Frost Line, he said, was a message, not a weapon always meant to break 1st. And now that they had come, he would not leave the work unfinished. Three ward rings screamed as they failed, stone cracked and sealed in flashes of orange and Violet. The pulse steadied under his hand, with the tower itself bending to his will. The agents of the Syndicate faced a choice that could set the tone for every fracture yet to come. You came back.
4:09 I would say I'm surprised, but surprise implies uncertainty. You've never truly left this conversation, no matter how loudly you declared it finished. Don't flatter yourself. I came because silence was becoming more dangerous than you. This place still answers the truth, or at least it used to. And I needed to know whether you still did too. You remember the path better than you like to admit, even after the Syndicate convinced themselves you had burned every bridge behind you. I told them what they needed so they would stop asking questions I was not ready to answer. That does not mean I forgot where this store was or who waits on the other side of it.
4:50 Yet you came alone, no wards trailing you, no allies hovering just outside of my vision. That's either confidence or perhaps desperation. It is containment. This place does not tolerate witnesses, and neither do you. If I brought anyone else, you would have known before they crossed the threshold. You sound tired. I'm exhausted. I am tired of being told you are a monster by people who profit from the same systems you are trying to tear down. I am tired of pretending my fear for you is simple or clean. Fear is never those things. It's layered memory with teeth sharpened by repetition.
5:34 Save the philosophy. Explain why my son walked into your shadow and came back sounding like you. He came back sounding like himself. I'm not sure what you're speaking about that that fact frightens you more than any resemblance to me. He asked questions, and no child should be asking questions that carved pieces out of the world when spoken aloud. He asked the questions that adults trained themselves not to ask because the answers were inconvenient. That difference matters. You let him believe he had a choice. That is the cruelest part. He did have a choice. You confused choice with safety because the world taught you that those two things were interchangeable. They're not.
6:19 You stand in the center of a war over memory and truth and call it clarity. You cannot pretend that is neutral ground. No, I stand in a war that existed long before I named it, and I refuse to pretend it is a it is holy just because institutions benefit from it. You let him see too much. You open doors that cannot be closed again. I gave language to what he already saw. The Hollowed Host erases people politely. The Syndicate, They keep their ledgers of names and forget the lives attached to them. Orion noticed this. I didn't teach him to see. I only stopped lying when he asked what he was seeing.
7:02 You should have sent him back empty. Empty is how the institutions return people when when they're done extracting value from them. You always do this. You dress inevitability up as consent and call it honesty. I make inevitability visible. Consent is what you are doing by standing here instead of leaving when every instinct tells you to run. You win. Do not look so pleased. This is not surrender, this is triage. I am choosing which truth I can live with and which one will kill me if I keep denying it. Almost you're choosing which truth bleeds first.
7:44 You came for leverage, you always do. You looked at the world and asked what I would bleed for, and you found his name without hesitation. I did not search for leverage. He came to me. He asked why memory is hoarded like currency, why grief is taxed, and why everyone pretends that forgetting is some sort of mercy. I know what you are. I know what your power does. It does not burn or conquer, it settles. It teaches patience till resistance feels inefficient and then calls that wisdom. And yet 'cause they you crossed the ward anyway. And I'm still saying yes. But not because you trust me.
8:27 Gods no trust would require believing you are harmless. And not because you believe me. No, you lie like breathing. Sometimes because you must, sometimes because you like how it reshapes the room. And say why you're here without disguising it as accusation. Because Orion is not a lesson, he is not a consequence, he is not proof your ideas work. He is my son and I will not let him be turned into a philosophy experiment. And he is someone who asked why the world needs forgetting to function at all. Then hear this clearly. Find me, Mark me, put whatever part of yourself you need into me if it keeps your hands off of him and your influence away from his future.
9:19 I'm not taking you as some sort of trade or as payment. Then define what I am to you before I decide you're lying again. It's really easy. You are a witness, someone who understands the cruelty of memory that never fades and the cruelty of forgetting that is forced. Someone, Someone who will never worship me. I want you honest when they call me a monster and call it morality. I want intent. I want to know the moment resistance becomes the habit instead of just a thought. Nero's swear to me. Orion remains free.
10:00 No compulsion, no change disguised as guidance or destiny. He does remain free. He he can walk away from me at any time and he would know owe me nothing. And if he does? Then I will mourn that loss honestly, and I would let him go. There's one more condition and it will decide whether this ends now. I wouldn't expect that reaching success with something like this would go without a condition speak it. Stop let's write this story I don't need the allegory please just tell me what's real. But nothing ever seemed to be real. But she's some colors that don't exist. Painting my painting counterfeit. Bless every truth I knew just starts to twist can from a calm in a world like this.
11:00 I've been my tongue till the words went dry Like a chief disguise. I see the truth when I close my eyes. The hardest part was a great goodbye and fake the ache can master train. I've been lost inside my name. All the mirrors look the same, but I don't see my face. Face with stop, I've been. Running every way lost the blast.
11:42 Welcome back to Crit Habits here on Spotify, iTunes, player.fmpoddirectory.com, stitcher.com, tuneinradioiheartradio.com, SiriusXM Podcast Radio, and pandora.com. We are here to complete another mission here in another episode of Crit Habits with the agents of the of the syndicate. Go ahead and say hello, agents. Hello. Hello. All right, so as we left off last session, you step into the frost line Watchtower, and as you remember on the watchtower floor, as you all enter the doors, cold stone presses close, even in the open air. Wind howls through broken arches and drags thin ice across the floor like whispering fingers.
12:39 The height of your stomach tightens. There's no railing, there's no protection. This place was built for watchers, not for comfort. The chamber is empty. Almost a single figure stands at the center of the tower floor. Back to you. No guards, no Thrones, no sigils. Just presents heavy and deliberate, like the air before a storm snaps. Neros. He does not turn when you arrive. He does not acknowledge footsteps, armor, breath.
13:19 He already knows you are here. Silence stretches long enough to feel intentional. Then, without facing you, Neros speaks. You made it further than most. He turns slowly. His eyes pass over you, not lingering, not judging, measuring, taking inventory. The wind surges through the tower, the tower rattling loose stone near us, tilts his head slightly and then looks at all of you, 1 by 1. You came here, there must be a purpose. Do you want her returned?
14:10 What? Do you want her returned? Who do you speak of precisely? Who do I speak of? Well, you tell me, when you pictured this door opening, who did you expect to see? Definitely not your bitch ass. I'm going to be honest. Monster from the Syndicate reports, perhaps the Heretic, the Heretic from the Hollowed Host Bells, or perhaps the friend you abandoned in favor of a simpler story. Friend is arguable, mutual is most likely. I stay silent, but I am definitely making a face at him. I'm.
15:01 Kind of I stepped in front of Zebulon and I kind of like pushing it behind me a little bit. I think you misunderstand. I'm not the friend I'm talking about, but with that in mind, it does seem that you've been very busy rehearsing what I am. None of you stopped to wonder who I might be talking to while you all argue about me. Argue We're waiting for you. What is it you brought us? Who is it you're talking about? Your resistance, truth, and memory is astounding. Let's recap.
15:46 You did not come when Orion disappeared. You did not come when the Bells swallowed names right in front of you. You did not come when the Syndicate rewrote its failures as your orders. You're so kind of tilt his head a little bit, weighing each of you individually. And you didn't come when your precious Castilla went missing. And as he says that, he snaps his fingers and right in front of him appears a tee fling, beaten, bloodied, bound in chains.
16:28 Is she gay? So tell. Me something. Oh, the on hand her. Oh, she said. The answer to that question is yes. OK. If you don't get your slimy little hands off of her, I'm going to RIP you limb from limb and feast upon your flesh. You will become a casserole. So did you come to save the world, or did you come to save her? Why not both? Why not both? I warn you though, do not take another step. She's alive right now because you all are listening. I would like it to remain that way.
17:09 What do you want an eye for? An eye. I have no eyes. Oh, sorry, sorry. No hair too. That's gone. Sorry, what? Let's frame the situation before you ask. No spell dragged her here, no leash pulled her through the dark. She walked. She walked into this watchtower alone. No syndicate wards, no escorts, none of you to accompany her, and no plan that survived 3 questions. She came because of Orion and now she's here saying because of you.
17:52 OK. So why did she choose me? She left you. Maybe because you took her son, Maybe because you blinded her in the darkness. There's a lot of variables that could play into this. However, it's not our fault, it's yours. You say that like it's a prayer, not like it's evidence she came here. You did not. That fact sits directly between us, whether you acknowledge it or not. Hey, what? What? Pause. Back it up. First off, what are you doing here in this tower? We obviously know that there's a big war going on, and we're here to fix Fractures 2.
18:36 Where's your son? Let's back up for just a moment. Mimi, I do not believe that your character would know that Kasdea has a son. I unless I'm wrong, I don't believe Tazaya has has informed you of that. I know that she has informed of Sisa of that. Yep, Yep, you're correct. I don't. Oh, Sisa, you take the wheel. Cece, you take the wheel. Take the wheel. Josisa take the wheel. Spencer, you're going to have to refresh my memory on this.
19:17 Wasn't Orion brought up in front of the group as a whole when Neros first turned on everyone? I'm sorry, say again. Yeah, because she she had that dream or whatever and she shared that with you and I assume you shared it with that with others too. Neros I was riding. Him in front of everybody, also by name. Orion, but. Not by like explaining the whole family tree. Yeah, right. My my memory serves as as nearest brought up Orion. Or something like that. Oh, you are correct that.
20:00 Yeah, you are correct. I apologize. Yeah. So that was. That was his proof to no memory basically correct. Yes, I, yes, I apologize. That happened at the pyre heart of chords. So yes, we can revert to everything I've said over the last minute and you may continue. So you want to list a list of what I'm doing? Fine. What I've done is I've treated her like every other person who steps into a story that they don't control. I offered her terms, I set boundaries, and I hurt her, and she refused both. You might call it cruelty. I call it a consequence. I have to wonder why you're speaking with us Nero's at this point, because you already made us an offer to join you and said we'd die if we didn't, and we obviously chose not to. So why are we even talking at this point? I suppose, I suppose it's my humanity. I don't look for death, I don't look to harm and hurt. But I'd like for you to clarify something for me. Did you all come here because she matters to you, or because you can't stand the idea that she chose to stand near me? I would skin myself alive if it meant having her back. I don't give a flying fuck about
21:31 you or your whatever you're calling a revolution. Whatever you're doing, I care more about the person you currently have bound in chains. Oh her. And as he kind of says that, he kind of twitches his head, like nodding to her, and you all just see as a another kind of cut goes from her temple, down her cheekbone, connects just below her jawline, not from any physical action, but a clear slow slicing across her face and blood kind of falls out. You want to take her home? You mean the syndicate?
22:13 The syndicate wants to take her home. The people who decided what she was allowed to question. We honestly, currently, you can't trust anything. We can't trust the Syndicate fully, we can't trust them fully, we can't trust you fully. But I know that we can trust each other and currently you're holding on to somebody who matters. It doesn't. We don't give a flying fuck about the Syndicate. At least I don't. I've questioned them at every turn, every single turn, every single Rd. I don't. It's just give her back. You're running around in circles, making us guess, making us figure out riddles for your stupid little game.
22:59 This is not a game, this is somebody's life. Give her back. You for you, the people who claimed to trust her and then stopped listening when her questions made you a little bit uncomfortable, when she vanished and you did nothing. What are we supposed to do? She told us not to look for her. They respect her wishes. And now? She's. From us, that was her decision. So this was her. Decision Also, we can't change her mind. We can't go back into the past and go, oh, Arfa Nugen.
23:44 So this must also be her decision then. And you're also kind of take a step towards her, half step to the side where she's kind of in front of him. She's obviously bound and chained on her knees. He'll take his shield and kind of rest it on top of her, the ankle bone, and then lean down hard and you can hear the crunch of bone. She chose this, right? That's what you're saying. She chose this. What do you want, dude? Quite actually. What do you want? We're all here standing up in this tower with you as you monologue at us and proceed to break the bones of our friend. What do you want?
24:26 Friend is a generous term, but since you asked so plainly, I will ask plainly if you want her returned. Good, then we treat this as an exchange, not a theft, not a ransom, A favor for a life. We'll say a. Favor. Favor, do we agree? Or you can what's you can come take her. No, I step. Forward and and I will take her place if you let her go. I'm not interested in clerics on the spiral down the drain. Mimi's going to afford to go.
25:23 I will return you a favor. If it means that we can have Cassadaya back, I will return your favor. You can call upon this favor whenever you may wish. Oh no, it's a specific. It's a specific. Favorite right now? OK, what's your favorite right now? What's the favorite? The precious syndicate won't be very happy. What's new? And what about the rest of you? The cat speaks. Does she speak for all of you? You. Zebulon? What? What about you? I'm going to need more details before I agree to anything. Do you view me as evil? I think evil is a matter of perspective, and I think we're on different ends of that perspective. I'll hear.
26:12 You about cleric? Am I fallen or simply misunderstood? Or am I evil? You have the means to know. You are an oath breaker as it stands. Whether or not you are evil remains to be seen. I broke no oath. The oath went away when Velora died. There was no oath to break. You killed Velora, you killed your goddess for power. You stand in the face of everything that is. It is to be a cleric.
26:59 You act tough because being honest would crush you. I make no judgment on you beyond what I have seen. The gods will choose where you belong. So this is where we got to kind of like play a little bit of a play a little bit back and forth here. If I need to speak as glave, how do? How should I handle that? I would just. Kind of monotony robotic. Yeah, I would say that would be fine. I can I can differentiate between the two. OK, So then Glaive will take a step toward Mimi. I think you're roughly the same height, and he'll slowly kind of lean in and just say Cat.
27:50 Do I attack him now? No. I was being diplomatic. He is a. Problem or being diplomatic Glave. There's a specific time for when we break his skull open. That time is not now. We need to get Cassadea back safely in our arms. We cannot cross that threshold. Do not cross the threshold or we lose her. Mimi and Glave, can I have competing persuasion checks please? I'm not trying to persuade. No, no, no. She's trying to persuade you not to attack. Oh, I got a 27.
28:31 Oh no. No, no, no, you haven't even rolled yet, man. I think you're gonna need, I think you're gonna need that 20 girl. Can you beat the 27? She came within that 20 OH. God, I don't. I don't know. I Oh no. No. If if you give me an AD 20, you're you're solid. I mean, I have another inspiration to die, can I use it? Sure, what the hell? OK, please, please no. Sorry, I feel like he's not convinced to not attack, but he's he's not trying to convince himself to attack either. He's looking forward.
29:15 He's just asking guidance, Yeah. So I mean, glave at this point. Yeah, glave at this point, you would not necessarily fear the compulsion to attack, but you also feel like you've been made to eliminate problems. And the way that you eliminate problems is by striking and counting. And you even after me means like, don't, don't freaking do it. You're still like, you know, that's me. OK, can I ask how far away? Are we from your house? I would say about 30 feet, you've just all of you have just kind of entered the the watchtower and are kind of lined up by the door kind of in like 1/2 circle almost where Neros is standing in the center of the stone floor of the watchtower. Can I ask Neros a question?
30:07 Sure you don't need my permission? So, Neros, what is the favor? I will fulfill the favour if you tell me it immediately right now and we switch. You give us Cassadilla, you go on your merry way. I finished the thingy and then we're good. We're chilling. You don't need all of us to agree with the favour. And I do need a life to agree to the favour. Son of a nugget. OK, all right, one second, Neros, if you'll excuse us. And I'm going to like bring everybody in like a little team huddle. All right, everybody, football huddle. Does anybody want to like roll an insight to see? Yeah.
30:50 About nearest is like if he's if he's planning anything, you know, because if you if you lose focus on him or his attention. Oh, you're right. We know. He's planning something. I mean, yeah, but like the on the level of severity. I'm rolling for Insight 18. What would I have Spencer or what would Nearest have to, I'm going to say hide his intent? His his real intent. Let's call that a kind of loosely A deception check, I'll say. That you're you're kind of hiding your true intentions. Sure.
31:31 That's Charisma 12. So Nearest's overall intent based on what you can see and judge is not so much vindictive or evil at this point, right? He's not looking. He's not looking for a fight. Got it? Not at this point. Got it. OK. All right, So I'm going to turn to my group. I'm going to actually I'm just going to still maintaining eye contact. I'm going to speak out loud and go. He not trying to fight us currently is simply asking us a favor. If we want Cassadia back, we all have to agree to the favor. I understand this might go against your oath or your programming or however you're built or structured, but I swear to God, if we lose Cassadia over this, I will personally hunt each and everyone of you down across the galaxies and eat you. Why have we not asked for from her? Her mouth is not found.
32:40 Her mouth is gagged. Oh, and that's not in the picture. Well, I I'm sorry, it wouldn't do it because it ran into a sexuality guideline. What do you want from me? You know, then never mind move. The gag from her so we can we can speak to our friend. You wish to speak to her. Yes, we wish to know her thoughts. I'm not sure she has much to say right now. All right gang, what are we thinking? Speak out loud or forever hold your peace right the fuck now. I'm concerned that might not even be Castea right? There might.
33:25 That might just be an illusion. It appeared out of nowhere, hasn't said anything. Exactly, that's why we need the gag removed. Real quick, so just a couple of things. When Nero started smashing her bones, she absolutely screamed, but you would imagine the the scream with like a muffled sound. She she absolutely has made noise when Nero's smashed her bones. Oh yeah, that makes sense.
34:08 Oh, Sisa. Skeptical. I don't know. I think we could try to break her free. I've got a handful of tools available to us. I can use mislead to become invisible and leave a duplicate are. We having this conversation out loud in front of him. Oh, Sisa my. Understanding is that we were having a huddle away from him. No, because we need to keep our attention on him, I tell. You what what I would allow is, is a huddle of perception and I'm going to have you do that in just a second. But basically what would happen is Mimi would call the huddle of everybody where she can be positioned to not only talk to you guys in the huddle, but also keep an eye on Neros. I would allow that that.
34:50 Well, that would be fine. But yes, absolutely Neros give me a perception check to see if you can hear what they say. Sisa 21. You said 21. 21. 21 So yeah, with a 21, you can't necessarily hear everything word, you know, syllable for syllable, but you can hear, you can pick out words that they're saying and you can you can basically kind of formulate what you think they're talking about, but not necessarily the full transcript, if you will.
35:33 You need evidence that this is in fact Kazdea. Yeah, that'd be helpful. Maybe if you could let her speak. That's all we ask. As I said, I'm not sure if she's up for speaking, but if you insist and he kind of leans forward harder while he still has his on on his shield on her ankle and removes the gag from her mouth. Kazdea is just going to scream outright scream. No words, just scream. I need everybody to give me an intimidation check except for Neros and Kazdea. Basically you're making this intimidation check to avoid the effects of intimidation.
36:15 Basically you're making a a check against intimidation with this blood curdling scream that Kazdea is letting loose. Great. I dropped my dice. It's gone. Right away. I got an 18. Knife I got. Who got under a 21? That's me. He. Said this was intimidation. Yeah, you're making a contested intimidation check. I'm going to burn an inspiration, see if I can get a better. Yeah, I only got, I only got 19.
36:58 So we might be cooked. We're cooked. No fudge. Well then Glave got 22. OK, he will succeed Glave. So everybody except Glave will fail the role. I won't necessarily tell you what that means yet, but you may continue. I would like to cast. Suggestion at Kasdea. Oh, I. Would like to suggest please explain what's going on here. Suggestion that requires some form of. Manila, It.
37:40 Doesn't wear a wisdom saving pro. What about verbal or semantic components? Verbal yeah, she missing a tone the. The thing out loud. Yeah, you. Suggest a course of activity limited to a sentence or two and magically influence the creature you can see within range that can hear and understand you. So basically, yeah, if she just like does what I said. Please explain be able to do it though, right? It yeah, it does have to be physically possible and it can't be harmful to themselves. So like, throw yourself onto a spear? They won't do that. Got it.
38:22 And if it's not physically possible, they can't. So you so zebby on you would say something along the lines of explain what's going on here, correct? Yep. OK, so you would say that out loud looking directly at Kaz Daya and whoops, I should turn that off Kaz, they give me a wisdom saving throw. I would allow you if you wish to fail the same voluntarily. Well, I failed anyway. I got a nap 1. Oh, inspiration. With a Nat one, I'm going to say that she's in so much pain that she can't even formulate a thought right now. OK, so Eros.
39:13 The command lasts up to 8 hours. I can wait. I can wait. I. Can wait. Can we? Glave is going to lean into the huddle again and and say we are having a huddle to determine what to do next. Should I attack him? No. Please I can appear so I can pull out my guardian. Susa doesn't say anything and she just makes very strong eye contact. Like what, bitch? Mimi is going. To Mimi is going to pull out her Ledger and is going to write. Glaive deploys his guardian so the thing that kind of looks like a Cape on his back begins to shed scales and form into what is what is known as a relic forged guardian. It's a horsey.
40:13 Horsey. It's a horsey. Right. It's it's it formulates kind of like a steed, correct? It's like a cat. Yeah, it's more cat like. Oh, OK. OK, so Eros, what is the favor? Before we agree to anything, what is the favor? Give us an inkling, a hint, anything. I'm beginning to bore. A mother trucker. And I feel like this deployment of, of what did you call it, a guardian, I feel.
40:56 Like that's just his point. I feel like that was quite. Oz hear me out, Hear me out. Hear me out, hear me out. Glave is 3 years old. He does not understand. He does not understand. Forgive him. He is simply an A child, OK? Already in action. If Miro. Fires a spell at us. I would like to cast Glow of invulnerability over the party. He is simply a child. Just give us Cassadaya and we will leave. Please, if any shred of humanity is inside of you, as you said before, please give us back Cassadaya. I'll pledge an oath to you right here, right now. Give her back.
41:44 Miros holds his hand up out toward the party, this huddle, and begins to chant a spell. And I need everybody to roll initiative. Mother of Mary. We are going to start with Neros. He will get a effectively a surprise action in this instance. How does that impact? Yeah, how does the ready to action go? I would say that the readied action what what is the spell that you're casting? Globe of invulnerability basically just fizzles all spells in like a 10 foot circle from the outside. Or lower.
42:38 OK, so any spell of fifth level or lower? Cancel with that. Barrier can't affect creatures. OK. So you're guessing a six, six level? Yep. OK. As a reaction to him casting a spell at us. So that's like the triggering condition for the ready to action. Sure. OK, so you let's see here. An immobile, faintly shimmering barrier springs the distance of 10 foot radius around you and remains for the duration. I'm good, I can keep going. OK, the so the.
43:21 As my action, I'll take my action. Let me keep playing up. I never even said what I was doing. I guess so. Nearest hold his hand up, we rolled initiative and he finishes his thought on it. Seems like I'm being attacked and he kind of making eye contact with Glaive and he looks down at the guardian and he says well this isn't fair die and the guardian immediately fizzles out of existence. There's a ninth level power Word Kill.
44:02 Jesus Christ guys, This is why I said we shouldn't attack him. And yet. I warn you now, next time it may not just be a simple familiar spell that gets destroyed the way it can create another steed and that'll be his action. And he won't, he won't move and he didn't. He won't do any harm to any living things. OK, do you have any other actions for your turn? No, OK. Not on this.
44:44 Not on this turn. Sure. OK. We'll move to Mimi. Mimi ain't never done this before. So brace with me, crew. Mimi is going to drop to both of her knees and plead for Cassidy's return. She's going to go Dang. Listen, Eros, this is somebody I would trade anything for. I'll take an oath for you. I'll bleed for you. I'll kill for you. Just give her back. Let's say what? Let's have you give a persuasion check nearest to you with contested persuasion check, please.
45:24 It's a very high DCI will say though I'm actually nearest. Don't do that. Don't do contested. Let's see. Let's see if she passed the DC first it. Can be contested pretty good. Nuts. I mean, that's actually not that bad. 3020 I got. A 30. Yeah, holy fuck. Is a 3020. He will not be persuaded. OK. I appreciate your effort, but I'd like to hear what the rest have to say. We. Mean he's going to hold. OK. Any anything else? Yeah, I'll, I'll allow the dropping to your knees and pleading with nearest effectively as a speaking action.
46:12 Call it a bone. Yeah. Action. And I approve of bleeding. And Mimi's going to unshoot her claws and cut herself. She goes, I'll bleed for you. Give her back Mimi 2. Got it. So she will effectively just unsheath her claws and just. Are we talking for attention or effect? What are we talking here? Fact. What do you mean affect your attention? What are those two differences? Don't. Worry about it. OK, So you'll just kind of cut along your arm, just kind of put a gash about we'll say halfway up your arm and blood will start spilling from your from your arm.
47:10 Anything else for your turn, Mimi? Mimi, Mimi, you like, watch as your pupils narrow. Like, Mimi's eyes are normally big and, you know, lovable and stuff like that, but her pupils become more cat like as she stares at Nero's. OK. All right then. You're done. All right, we will move to Zebulon. All right, so I'm going to start by quickening the spell mislead from my mask. So like a clone of myself appears where I am, it looks like nothing happens, but I become invisible and can move and leave that duplicate there.
48:04 And I'm going to approach Kasdea and try to undo the bindings. I'm with an invisibility. Well, it looks like I'm still standing by the party. I assume that's within 5 feet of Neros. First, let me check one thing real quick. Zooming Castea takes up a square and you take up a square. I'd be 10 feet. Castea would be 5 feet. Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm just making sure that you could cast the spell inside the globe of invulnerability. So OK, Yeah, double checking that. So yes, the answer to your question, Nero says yes, he would be within five.
48:47 Well, he would be within 10 feet of of you, 5 feet from Castea. Yeah. No, I, I'm sorry, I, I, I, I do have to say that he, he, you are 5 feet from both Kasdea and Neros. Effectively Neros and Kasdea if we're talking is like a grid form. They are occupying the same space. Kasdea is right up against Neros. I'll just simply say Nebulon. I have no eyes yet I see all. I'll give you an opportunity to step back if you choose.
49:34 Have I already begun on doing the bindings? I'll have said that like as you're approaching. Yeah, yeah. We'll say that as you are approaching it, enter the five foot space in front of them, that he says what he just said. They're in the same square. That makes a lot of the spells I've got less effective. Thorn Web. I think I might just try to use shocking grasp so within melee range. OK, give me a melee spell attack. We got a 30. Wow.
50:17 Yeah, I'm impressed. Yeah. Hits OK give me, give me damage all. Right, I think. Are we in like the third bracket of damage now? 3D8. Are you casting that at third level? It's a can trip and I am like 12th level. Yeah, so at 11 you get an extra 5 and 11. One of them wasn't 8. Just a moment.
51:00 Caste. What's your Max HP? 87. All right, I did 24 lightning damage to Neros and then I would back up just like 5 feet or whatever after having zapped him. It's going to be Neros and caste because they're going to find the same space. So how much damage? Not how shocking grasp works though. Yeah, this is like a single target spell. Yeah, he literally touches like my arm or my shoulder. It doesn't. Target retreat. OK. And then it wraps him and disables his reaction, so I'm going to back away. OK, how much damage was it again? 24 OK. All right, so does that also give away your position now that you are attacking?
51:46 Oh yeah, the casting a spell does it. OK, yeah, but so I mean, I already saw him. Well, I mean fair, but just for yes. Yeah, he told me. Narration person. Yeah, yeah. So as you go to cast mislead, quickened physical embodiment of yourself appears basically right where you were. You go invisible, sneak around to right in front of Kasdea and Neros, and as you go to touch his we'll say his shoulder and cast Shocking grasp. You appear right in front of Neros and Kasdea and let loose the lightning damage AKA Emperor Palpatine style.
52:29 Anything else for you that'll? Be it. All right. We will then move to OSISA, so again, let's see. So you've just seen Zebulon, who you thought was right behind you, now appear right in front of Neros and Kasdea and deal damage to Neros. Kasdea and Neros got it. No, just just Neros. OK, let me just double check something real quick. Yeah, Point of order with shocking grasp, and this is I guess kind of mechanical question from a new DM.
53:12 If you catch shocking graphs on a target target that is touching another target, do they get zapped as well? No, it's got video game physics. OK, going to say yeah, I I wouldn't. I wouldn't. Yeah, not rules is written, but if you want to narrate it as such. Yeah, I do want to. Yeah, I do. I do want to have a bit of consequence to your actions, Zebulon, and I'm going to make Kasdea take What's the damage dice for the spell that you just cast? 3D8. 3D eight, I'm just going to say 1D8, and from the transfer it'll do 7 lightning damage to Kasdea. So caste and not on top of you having a shield still in your ankle, effectively.
54:03 Now you just got zapped, so you let out another guttural scream. Mimi 3. All right, then we'll move to Osisa. OK. All right, so I'm going to cast a spell and would a 27 hit Neros? Well, what are you casting? I am casting guiding bolt. Counterspell.
54:44 You do not have. Anybody counter that counterspell? Neros, you do not have a reaction. I zapped you. Oh, I lose it completely. Not just for your retreat. Yeah, you lose it till the start of your next turn. Oh yeah, OK, cool. So I would assume then that that hits. 27, Yeah, OK. So that'll be a bolt of light of radiant damage and that's going to be 8 D 6. So that'll be 27 points of radiant damage. And I've got two of those are sixes. So do you want me to re roll and add that on?
55:25 Yep. OK, 1-2 more rolls on that. OK, so that'll be a total of 32 points of radiant damage and I'm going to basically aim it right for neurosis. Face OK, so you'll let loose this guiding bolt of radiant damage, and Nero said to come right down on you on the face and just feel like a pretty moderate sunburn. Cast Daya. You will take 14 points of damage from the effect. Why would why would she take?
56:07 Because he's touching her and what I'm what I'm. Basically, I think that doesn't work that way, but it's your call Lightning is different, right? That's. Radiant damage. That's true, basically. Upon the Spirit. Yeah, basically what I'm trying to sow at this point is that damage that's taken by Neros is somewhat felt by Cazde as well. So I'll tell you what, I'll have that do 7 damage. That's that's the point I'm trying to get across here. Got it. OK. Would that also apply then healing as well? Quick question. Guess we'll find out. Can we if we were actually? Is that meta? If I ask that question, I. Don't even ask that question. Whether or not you use the answer makes it meta.
56:50 Yeah, right. Was separating her from Nero's be a good idea as Oh yeah sounds? Like a no brain, you can't know that. Yeah, that's unfortunately, yeah. That would be meta gaming, yeah. OK, not bad. Who should probably ask? Oh yes, you think so? Is what it sounds like. Yeah, Yeah, it sounds. It sounds like me. We think that's a great idea. Right. I will say though, with with the guiding bolt, it you know, it comes and hits Nero's directly in the face and as the kind of like poof of smoke or whatever kind of fades, he's just smiling. It looks like it dealt some damage, but not as much as you would have expected. We forgot he's a God, guys.
57:36 And how far? He's like, what, 30 feet away, you said? If you did not move, he's 20. What did I say? 25 feet Away, 20252025. So then can I run up to him and her? Yeah, you still have your movement. OK, so yeah, I'm going to run up as close as I can get and that'll probably be it for unless he's got a reactionary. He doesn't. He doesn't have a reaction to his turn, I was going to say. Yeah, OK. No, but I I'd like to use a legendary reaction now. OK, I'm sorry. A legendary action.
58:17 I'll firm my grip on Kazaa's shoulder and I will at the end of Osis's turn using my Echo Step, and I'll teleport directly behind Glave 30 up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that I can see, and I will cast. You know what? I won't cast anything. I'll just teleport with Castea and we both appear right there. OK. All right. Then we will move to Glaive.
59:02 Glaive's turn, he's going to turn around. You killed my guardian. I don't understand the reasoning, but you can die for it. So then he will. One action he's going to, he's going to go full, full swing. So he'll take two attacks. The first one is a 2024, so that hits.
59:46 OK. Second one is a 14 doesn't hit and then he'll use his bonus action to use the pommel hit because of pull arm master. OK. That's another 24, so that hits also. OK, so one regular, one bonus action hit. Now, were those attacks from a magical weapon? Oh, yes, OK. Just making sure, OK. Very, very magical. He will however on SO do you want me to finish the full round or do damage and stuff as I go?
1:00:38 You can do it as you go. I mean, you're not in any danger of killing neuros. So he's going to do OK, So what is my damage here? 1D10. 34 exploding oh man I need a calculator that's going to be oh wait I have to I'm going to spend 2 spell slots. Also one of 4th level and one of third level. OK.
1:01:31 And I'm going to define smite both of those. OK. That's the damage. I might define smite now. Radiant damage, I know that. It is radiant divine smite. Here we go. I hit creature 2D8 plus an extra D8 for each spell that is first or higher than first. So 2 second thirds, 48 for one, 5D-8 for the other. OK, that's going to be halved.
1:02:24 So on that he takes 71 damage. OK, that's how much he takes. And then action search. OK, I'll make two more attacks. One hits, one doesn't. He'll divine smite that as well. At a Level 3 man damage, that's another 29 damage. OK, that's all he's got.
1:03:08 So with all that damage, Neros is starting to look a bit. Warren will say damage wise, but not not too much. I mean, he did just take about 100 points of damage, but he's still he's still standing. So, OK, so anything else for Glaive? No. OK, we will move to Kaz Daya but she can't really do anything. So I mean, you can take a speaking action if you wish, but that would be really about it. She's going to do is scream and thrash. You got it.
1:03:55 Like she's trying to get free. Sure. As you begin to thrash, the chains begin to start slicing up your arms a bit and you begin to bleed a bit more. That's it. OK, then we'll move back to Neros. All right, Neros is going to.
1:04:36 He's going to cast a spell. OK, but you briefly stop the flow of time for everyone but yourself. No time passes for other creatures while you take three turns in a row during which you can use action and move as normal. It ends if one of the actions you use during this period, or any effect or any effects that you create during this period effects a creature other than you or an object being worn or carried by someone other than you. In addition, the spell ends if you move to a place more than 1000 feet from the location you cast it. What's the name of the spell you're casting again? I'm spell good.
1:05:23 Stuff. That's what I thought. OK, you take three turns probably. Back to full health. In a row. Yeah, back to full health. And he's probably going to, like, casually step on somebody and just, like, snap the neck, obviously, OK. So you will cast that and you'll take your next three turns. It's three turns. In addition to this current turns, correct? Yeah, three additional turns, OK. All right, so when you. Attack that ends it. If I do anything to even like manipulate anything that isn't me basically. Not true.
1:06:06 So wait. Does new. Spells Level 9 spell slot. What a jerk. Oh yes. What a. What a jerk. What a jerk. So with his, with his speaking action for the the first turn or this turn, he'll just kind of go into where, where, where was I? And he's going to spend the rest of this turn and then all but one of the three. So the next two turns, and he'll just kind of call out, where was I before I was rudely threatened and interrupted. So you asked what the favor might be. I can share that information.
1:07:07 Can we hear him? Hello. Yes. You still hear him? No. OK, yes. Now I will say at the end of the second turn of you, how many turns do you say you were using to to do this? The rest of this turn that I had and then two additional turns and then. So I'll have one turn left. OK, well combat will end after the second full round of nobody taking any sort of wounds. I mean, technically right now she's frozen. Oh yeah, that's true. So. Somebody.
1:07:49 Somebody will take damage, don't worry. OK. I want a man to tell the truth, that's all. Not a confession shaped for mercy. Not a story polished for history. The pure and honest truth spoken where it cannot be walked back. He must say what he did, who he broke, and why he chose it. He must finish speaking before anything else happens to him. I expect you're wondering who this person is. You already know the type.
1:08:39 It's the kind of man other people keep rewriting so that they can live with themselves. Call him a commander, a patron, a Saint of convenient memory. I want him heard as he is, not as the Syndicate or the Dominion or the Hollowed Host like him to be. You will not kill him before he speaks. You will not edit what he speaks. You will not spare him the weight of being heard. This is not punishment, this is exposure. If he lies, you press.
1:09:21 If he falters, you wait. You do not rescue him from himself when he is done, when he has put his own story on the table where anyone can see it, Then you may do whatever your conscience demands in return. She leaves this tower alive only after this favor has been fulfilled. I will release her from her chains, from my mark.
1:10:01 She'll walk back to you under her own power and you get to call that a rescue if it helps you sleep. He looks Kaz damn and back at you if you refuse. If you twist this into another story where someone else is to blame for your inaction. And as she says that near us, kind of waves his hand just a bit and the chains begin tightening around Kaz. Daya, then she remains exactly where she chose to stand, and you will have to live with the knowledge that you walked away from her when the favor was honest and the price was only your comfort.
1:10:46 So if you want her returned, how badly enough to make one man tell the truth. And then into his final, his final turn, at the end of of his turn, he'll take an additional legendary action. Let me get it here. So nearest targets, one creature he can see within 60 feet. The target must succeed on ADC Intelligence, an intelligence saving throw. So he's targeting Glaive Spencer. Does anybody else want to roll an intelligence safer glave? His +2 intelligence is plus. 7 + 7 intelligent save. He rolled A7, so 14.
1:11:45 Yeah, no, he failed. So then he's going to get hit with a memory lash, which does. Wouldn't his time stop be stop as soon as he did something to Kezdea? Yep, sure would. Still my turn then, correct. It's just the rest of the turns I've already used. So I would like if I used it after like the first turn, then yeah, it would have resumed as normal. So Blaves going to take 28 points of damage, psychic damage, and then at the start of his next turn, he'll hold up his hand to the group and to Glaive and and just say just don't forget how easy this was for me. But you you can die and Glaive dies. Oh my God, that can't be right.
1:13:06 What the fuck no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Spencer, let me move. Let me do anything, Please, Lord. Please, he's too young. Come. On I, I got to revivify. Come on. He'll finish, he'll finish his turn with a he'll he'll reach into his larger pouch, pull out a smaller one, and he'll throw it O sisa to your feet. And a handful of diamonds fall out. And he says, I can do this all day. My intention isn't to kill, but if I'm driven to it, feel free to revive them. Neros, these firms seem generous, amenable even. Who is this person that you want us to convince to speak the truth?
1:14:02 I understand the concern, but I I will try to impress on you the urgency of this happening. While it may seem like not enough, in exchange for her life and her return, I promise you it is. The objective is to force Magistrate Elvis Corin to give his complete, voluntary and public testimony of his crimes. The testimony must meet all conditions below. If any condition fails, this favor fails. Corin must openly admit to his actions. Not implications, no justifications, clear statements of what he ordered and allowed.
1:15:10 I think I'll pause. I'm going to pause here to see if anyone wants to take actions or if or if combat ends. Yeah. So that'll be into your turn, then we'll move to Mimi. That's really interesting. So actually don't know what Mimi would do in this situation. You were already basically groveling, so I. Think. Saying yes, I mean, basically is what I mean, basically, yeah. Mimi is going to, instead of standing straight up, she stands on all fours and she's going to whip around a Zebulon and Taylor's going to start lashing and she's going to go. We e-mail a message, the General right the fuck now or I eat you. I'm not kidding.
1:16:15 No more fun time, no more jokes. This guy needs to tell the truth. Magistrate Elvis. Corin needs to speak his truth so we can get our friend back. Well, you don't need to threaten me. I'm not threatening you, trust. If I wanted to eat you, I would have done so by now, however. I employee I can't really you see how well it worked out for your friend Glaive. I can't really write anything right now, Zebulon, so I'm going to need you or Sisa to do it. We'll get the details in a pad over the where Glaive's body is, and it's going to lay down next to him. And like, you know how if a cat lays down on their side and it's like the paws out in the front?
1:17:17 Yeah, Their tail lashing. That's what Mimi looks like right now. OK. We'll move to Zambian. Yeah, I guess at this point I'm feeling like we're out of combat. I'm ready to make a deal. It sounds like he doesn't want anything too nefarious. As far as I can tell, telling the truth aligns with my morals. Does anybody else here can want to continue the fight? Or do we want to talk about this? I'm going to say that unless anybody has any objections, you guys will drop out of combat.
1:18:04 O Sisa would like to send him to the gods for judgement, but she is holding back for the time being. OK. I I don't know if I wait. Pause. As one final action then near us is going to cast Mass Heal on everybody but glave OK. OK. You really don't like yourself on that? You really don't like yourself? Do. You. Yeah. So the audio people listening just just remember Jesse killed Jesse so it's fine.
1:18:46 Wait, did anybody else take damage even? Oh yeah, you first of all. Oh yeah, and I I cast it on Kasbeh also, yeah. All right then. Yep, you guys are. You ready? Are you ready for the? Magistrate. Yeah. I'm curious, Don. I'm sure you won't tell us up front, but I would love to know how this benefits you. What is this magistrate done that concerns Nero's the God? Well, let's discuss scope. The testimony needs to include admission to forced relocations carried out under false emergency orders.
1:19:39 His testimony must include the names that were removed from the Dominion records, the sentences carried out without a trial, the reason he believed that it was acceptable to function in this way. The testimony itself must be heard by the victims or their representatives, members of the Unwritten acting as witness scribes of ash, at least one neutral third party. This testimony must be recorded in a form meant to last only long enough to be used.
1:20:26 It is not scripture, it is scaffolding. And you must not kill him before the testimony is complete. However, once you have accomplished all of this, as I've said previously, let your conscience dictate what to do with him next. I will be waiting at the Ash Archive, but I will say don't wait too long.
1:21:08 I have eyes, ears, and thoughts all around. And we, The Unwritten will continue to monitor your progress. And you swear all you seek is the truth. All I seek is the truth. This has always been my mission, to bring to light the people, the representatives that have used memory for currency, for pain, for power, those that have edited the archives to fit their directives. Memory is not our memory exists to be freely experienced and freely forgotten as it is not modified. And he is a clear example of how the syndicate to how the Dominion, how the hallowed host only works to their own benefit with no care for others.
1:22:22 This will help me stop that. All right, I have no objection to these terms. Does the rest of the group have any concerns? No concerns. When you're ready. To. When you're ready to communicate your progress, your success or failure, find one of the unwritten. They can point you to the Ash archive. I'll be waiting. He. Snaps his fingers and he's gone with Kasdea. With Kasdea. With Kasdea, why can't we keep her? I don't know.
1:23:14 All right, looks like we got some torturing to do, crew. As you guys are gathering your things. That's a good idea. As you all are gathering your things, you turn to kind of leave the the watchtower and in the doorway out between just just right where the door kind of starts the what's it called the entryway. The threshold, yeah. Threshold. But where the threshold is, you see Kasdea laying on the threshold, half in the snow, surrounded in kind of a bloody pool, and in all of your mind simultaneously.
1:23:54 You hear I can take her back at any moment. Don't disappoint me. God damn. So she's badly injured very slightly. Rushing forward. Yeah, I mean, she's the. Mask The mask heel that was that was cast on her is took effect and as she returns now she is far worse than when she left. OK crap so Glaive is dead and and I I I'm going straight for Cazadea. She's still alive.
1:24:44 I'm going to go for her first and then Glave next have. Been less than a minute or whatever. Well. Unless. Yeah, can I bring Glave back? Glave is dead, yeah. Glave. Well, I mean, remember if it's been within a minute. Right, it's it has been more than a minute, unfortunately. OK, so. Glave is just. Well, there, there still is a there still is a pouch of diamonds. Yeah, but I can only revivify. Has to be done within one minute. Right, but there's clerics all over the world that can cast things like True Resurrection, it just requires a diamond. Jesus Christ, how are we going to carry his big ass body across the world?
1:25:25 The logistics, The logistics are not letting up. In that case, I'm going straight to Cassadea. And Cassadea, your wounds. OK? Yeah, Mimi's going to prop Cassadea up, so I'll see if I can treat her better. As you propose, as you prop Cassadea up, she screams at the top of her lungs. How? Badly hurt is. She, she, she's very, very hurt. Broken bones, multiple broken bones, blood, just kind of just she's drenched in blood.
1:26:07 And also I need everybody that is currently surrounding Kasdea to give me a history check. Oh, before or after the history? It honestly won't matter, OK? Cool. I've. History, History. That guiding bolt fucked me up. Yeah, did. Holy shit. Dirty 20. Oh. Sisa was mad is a dirty 20. I got a 1717 Yeah O sisa. Did I hear Zebulon say 5? Yes. He did OK everybody except Zebulon. We will say that O Sisa and Mimi are cover or their surrounding caste to the point where Sebelon you can't make anything out from where you were because you, I mean, unless you took a few steps after after combat, you're still kind of about 1520 feet away from the door.
1:27:07 So we'll say that they're surrounding caste to the point where you can't really see anything but Osisa and Mimi. You noticed that Castea looks different than how you remember. And we're talking, we are talking from what she's wearing. She what from what she's wearing to she's a bit, her skin's a bit darker than you remember. She doesn't have the same gold regalness that she wants. Help.
1:27:49 She now appears more in a black dress of sorts, almost fish, almost like fishnet stockings, almost up past her thighs, and her hair is now braided and more Gray than the white that it used to be. I. Want to make sure this is her? Yeah. 1. Second, can I sniff her? Perception or investigation? You can give me investigation, I guess, Mimi, you can roll for sniff or insight. Maybe.
1:28:31 Yeah, that's, that's a better one. Give me an insight, Mimi. As far as your role is concerned, you would have. Advanced. For sure with advantage. Yeah, yeah, Perception with advantage based on how you are currently. OK. 19 OK on then we'd say it. Oh, dirty 20. OK, so is. It dirty 20. With OCS 19 and Mimi's Dirty 20, you both based on OCSA using your eyes and brain and Mimi using your nose. This is this, This is this is Kasdea OK?
1:29:18 I'm going to mask Cure Wounds or, or wait, sorry, Cure wounds on her. Sure. And this is going to be at sixth level. OK, so we'll say that currently Kasdea is on one HP. How? How much healing do you get casting at six level? Sorry, that would be 70 points of healing. We'll say that you do Max healing for that because you are out of combat. Oh hey quick question, sure this is weird but this guest have like strangles of hair like over her face.
1:30:05 This is something that my cat does. Yeah, Castaia's hair is a mess, almost saturated in blood. Mimi's going to slick back her hair with her tongue out of her face. My cat does this to me, so Mimi's doing it to Cassadia. OK, yeah, I mean, you can prop her hair up with your tongue. OK, let's just say she smoothes it back with her hand. How about that? That's better. That works. Better, all right. And then Cassadia. Congestion again. I mean, it's still active, I would think so, yeah. I guess it's 8 hours.
1:30:51 So. I hope you're feeling better. Can you help us understand what's going on here more or? Less like. Reaffirming the same spell. What happened? He hurt me. I went for for Orion and he hurt me. What did he do? You saw, Were you not watching? You. You didn't think I was real. You, you didn't think it was me? I didn't think Nero's was telling us the truth. We were there to help you the whole time though. Truth is about perspective.
1:31:46 Never seen Orion though, he wasn't here so I don't understand what happened. Is the way to see Orion. No, no, no. Is he OK? Yes. She kind of breathes a sigh of relief. Like, OK, all right, at least Orion's OK, and now you're better. We need to see if we can find someone to bring back Glave, yes. Yes, I'm, I'm OK, I'm, I'm OK.
1:32:34 She's going to kind of stand up on wobbly legs. Amy's got a sister and I'll wrap her up in a gentle hug and just go. I missed you. I missed you too. All right, so. It's a great time. Yes, it is. That's a very good idea. Let's take a quick. Break. OK, I haven't pee so bad. Let's take a quick pee break and we will come back. We'll be right back with more if grit happens. Welcome back to Crit Habits here on Spotify, iTunes, player.fmpoddirectory.com, citro.com, tuneinradioiheartradio.com, SiriusXM Radio, and pandora.com. We are back to kind of deal with the aftermath of the confrontation with Neros.
1:35:23 So we last left our party having healed Kasdea. She's still pretty out of it still. You know, she may be good on HP, but she's still got effects from the damage that she's been inflicted. So you are aware kind of generally what you need to do. So what would you like to do from there? At this point, I think kind of Assisa would kind of get up the group and be like, I think we need to get back to syndicate headquarters and we should probably discuss the unwritten, whoever they are, with the leadership.
1:36:07 I mean, we're going to need to find the magistrate and we don't want Nero's taking Kasdia back. Before we return to base, I think we should talk about, do we discuss with the syndicate whether or not we've been given this mission, you mentioned the magistrate, or do we keep that between the? Groups, we keep that ourselves. They don't need to know. I don't even know if that street is part of the syndicate. Nero's never said anything about keeping the secret, just that he wanted us to do it. I know, but if we tell them this information and state they're with the magistrate, they're going to try to silence us. Yeah, exactly.
1:37:03 Being open about it might make our job harder. True. Yeah. I think we should keep it quiet for. The moment. OK, but at least at least we need to get information about who the magistrate is, where he is, and we should talk about the unwritten with them if nothing else. Absolutely, yes, I agree with that. Castea, do you think you're out for traveling? Written took pasadayo.
1:37:45 I suppose so. Why? Why wouldn't I be? Let's go. Let's get this over with. All right. Hop on my. Back, let's roll. What about glave? All right, we're hitting the road, Jack. Oh fuck. I'm going to stuff Glaive's body into my bag of holding. Well, Jesus. And then hop on Mimi's back. Piggyback. The disrespect. Yeah, let's go. He's. Like get in the bag, get in the bag. He's a sweetie, a little 3 year old back kind of man and.
1:38:26 Needs. A 43. Year old kind of man, Jesus. Before Zebulon puts Glaive in his bag of holding, caste is going to kind of like walk over and close his eyes, kind of kiss his forehead and then go continue. Oh. So yeah. I think finding a cleric for Glaive is the first order sexually. Let's wake our friend up. Yeah, let's find a cleric. Of my powers. To the church.
1:39:10 OK, so you're returning to Syndicate headquarters? Or OC says. Church we're returning back to like. A true resurrection. Maybe we try to find a temple of Shante and see if we can find a cleric who might be able to do this. Bring him back. We should grab the diamonds while we're at it for. Sure. But maybe inspect them too. Sure, he didn't sneak anything in there. Sure, you can. Go ahead and give me an inspection check, investigation check 20. 6. There are three diamonds in this pouch, each worth the. Basically you would know as a as a clerk that. Each of these diamonds would satisfy the quote UN quote cost for a a true resurrection.
1:40:11 OK, she's going to share that with the party. You know, like, hey, this looks legit. We should probably get going. Let's get glave up and running first and then head to court headquarters. Whoa. Agreed. Did. We lose. All right, let's do it. Michaela dropped out. Nope. Yeah, sorry. All right, so you are going. To first on the road again. OK, so you're going to be seeking out a temple or shrine of Santaya, correct? Yep.
1:40:51 OK. I assume Mosisa would know of 1. Yes, I mean, yeah. Actually, would you know the rune pattern for one? I could teleport us there if so. How would I mean? I think that's. If they have a teleportation circle, it would have like a pattern of runes to memorize in order to use it it. Makes sense to have one Spencer. How do you want me to do this? You want me to do a check on this? Or would this be just natural knowledge you think?
1:41:33 Give me a history check on it. Yeah. 18 You've heard that there are in total, you know there to be 5 different temples to your, we'll call it religion, one each located within the each region. And I'm sorry, there are 6 temples, one in each region. Now the temple that you know, based on the location that you are currently, because you're located within the Shatter Peak, it would be located within the southwestern side about about 3/4 of the way there. So underneath, if you're looking at the world map underneath the TS currently you're in the northeast corner. So at least the the reason that you're in that would be where the temple is located.
1:42:52 Now the temple, located within the action belt, is in the northwest corner. I think the closest one would probably be the easiest, but I don't know what the the spell would look like for Zebulon. So you. Yeah. Do you recall? Do you? Recall the runes for the teleportation circle of any of them. Yeah, so I apologize, I didn't finish the the check. So with the check, you know that there are 6 temples of your religion, however you don't know which ones, if any, have any teleportation circles or glyphs or wounds that would facilitate that. So basically you would be kind of going in blind. Do you want to risk it or should we try to head back to headquarters and see if someone at headquarters can do this? Yeah, I think we travel on foot, we can teleport. Back You're going to ask who killed them? They're going to ask questions.
1:43:58 We should take them to it. We should take Clave to a temple if you want to remain. I mean under the radar have. A deep discussion. About it Nero's killed glave. Oh, OK, sure. OK, so I'm understanding that you'll return to the Whisper Fang. I'm game for that if you guys are going from Whisper Fang to then the headquarters. Yep. So the headquarters is located within the action Belt, so it'll be about a day's travel from the Whisper Fang, which is again, is everyone's bar Tavern, I should say.
1:44:45 And let's be honest, y'all need a little bit of rest afterwards. I'm after all this. So yeah. So, yeah. So I mean, you can absolutely use teleportation to get back to the the Whisper Fang. You can deduct the gold Zebulon from there. Yep. Let's do that. If anybody wants to pitch in, let me know. Teleportation's not free 50 gold, but I confront it for this one and I think it's worth it to get back home I want. To sleep with. My pitch and then just pay for it this time. OK, actually, we just got three diamonds, right? How much are each of those worth? Wait, we might need them in the future. We're.
1:45:33 Gonna Well we need at. Least one of them. Yeah, what about the other two? What if this happens again? Gem infused inks are what you need as the cost for the teleportation circle, so I might be able to make an abundance of it with one of these gems if it's worth thousands. We just travel on foot. If you travel 1 foot it would be I got 1/2 days travel. I wonder if I did one walk. Like 2 hours. Yeah, I would. I would charge you one train. 500 feet right?
1:46:16 Yes. I like that idea. OK, so yeah, if you're going to go that route, I would charge you one travel encounter as opposed to two. So you're going to, you guys are going to go on foot back to the Whisper Fang. I think so. OK, My vote would be to do that travel encounter as we're preparing to leave because the the spell makes us like a a vapor that moves 300 feet a turn. Yeah. So the encounter is we run away at 300 feet. So what I will say is that you begin to travel without Windwalk and then after the travel encounter, you will use Windwalk to go the rest of the way.
1:47:09 So let's have whoever wants to roll me AD 100. My last one was too good, so someone else has to do this. Asadeo as you're welcome back all the die. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, OK. That's. 83 83 Where is 83? It's after 80. So good job.
1:47:50 People tanks. As you're traveling just a bit a ways from the Watchtower, you encounter a traveling tinkerer, if you will, asking you to share a meal with them. Oh, of course. I'm going to bust out a whole bunch of stuff from my bag of holding like a barrel of ale and like a bunch of tankards for everybody, set up a table, all that. Absolutely. We'll share a meal with a tinkerer. That sounds amazing. OK, poison check.
1:48:31 If you say poison, check. Yeah, I don't. Sure. Eating food with strangers? Sure. Give me a we'll call it perception check. Medicine check. No, medicine check. Yeah, medicine check would be better. Medicine check. Got it, Got it. Can I do one of those as well? Sure, go ahead. Oh, doesn't that one it looks. Incredible to you and you immediately start eating the food. Oh. So she's going to eat immediately. Yep, with a net one she's going to start eating immediately.
1:49:14 I rolled a 17 so the so it'd be a 24. It's not poisonous, the food is exactly what it looks like. Again. Hey Spencer, you can never be too careful. All right. Hey, no, I I appreciate it. I loved the natural one I. Mean you trusted. Miros sure look healthy. What was that? Does a tinkerer look healthy? Does he look injured at all? Yeah, no, he looks completely normal. And do you eat the food? Food's good. Amazing. It's. What a could we ask him to fix our friend? I know it's just weird, but he's a tinkerer A. Completely normal tinkerer?
1:50:02 I don't think so. OK, yeah, so never mind. You guys can go ahead and take a the equivalent of, we'll say, 2 short rests if you need it. I know that a lot of you were healed at by neuros, but you guys can take the 2 short rests if you wish for the effects of effectively sitting down, taking a quick rest, and eating some food. And then from there, I'll see. So we'll cast one walk and you will arrive at the Whisper Fang pretty soon after that. Can I ask the tinkerer to make me a contraption before he leaves Something to show off at the bar?
1:50:52 Yeah, he will make you a A hankered that has little arms and legs and can go around your bar and kind of entertain people like hello my baby, hello my honey, hello, my right angle. That is like, no joke, exactly what I had in mind. Yep, so you will. I'll I'll get you a small boost here to the Whisper Fang for that thing. Hello my honey, hello my baby. OK now, so from there, yeah, you'll arrive with the wind, walk back at the Whisper Fang. Home sweet, Home Rounder drinks for everybody.
1:51:36 Hey, everybody in the bar heard that as well. And they go, hey. Everybody. We don't have money. He owned the bar. He made quite a lot of money from the last time he he got his income from the bar so. I was going to say it, wasn't there a festival or something like that? Yeah, we. Had a beer festival but it went great. Yeah, it went great, totally fine and nothing wrong one happened. So from there you will. We'll just go very quickly. You guys will take a long rest from there for the night.
1:52:17 Wake up the next morning. I assume we will be up making breakfast like normal. Oh yeah. Yep. And then so I need to understand what you guys determined. So what exactly have you determined of what you're going to do at Syndicate headquarters? Bring back clay if we can. Yes, and proceed to lie to them, but Nero's not telling them. Not lie, exactly, just. Withhold information. Yeah. OK, so you'll withhold information on the. The deal that we made specifically to force the magistrate to speak the truth. OK, we're still going to ask.
1:52:59 About the weird stuff that Nero's was talking about though. OK, you 2 agreed. I didn't. Yeah, I guess that's true. OK if. I don't know, I just don't trust him. If they go into the syndicate because there's going to stay outside, she does not want to go in. She's a vampire. Yeah, that's what it is. Yep, you're right. No, she just does not want to go in. She wishes to stay outside in free air. Free air.
1:53:39 Is Kasdia staying in that outfit or is she going to like switch into or Kasdia? Staying in this outfit, OK. So what will happen is, I assume that you would all set up for sitting at headquarters in the Ashton Belt, correct? Yes. OK, so forsake of time, I am not going to charge you a travel encounter. It's pretty close to where you are currently, about 1/2 day's journey, similar to basically you're crossing the border and half a day's travel into the Ashton Belt and you will arrive at Syndicate headquarters from there.
1:54:21 Kasdea will again, she'll stay outside. She doesn't like the idea of stepping foot inside syndicate headquarters with the feeling that she has about them currently. So I mean, she'll, she'll go off and maybe do some research or some form of thing to assist you with information on the magistrate. Written or the magistrate? Correct. Now for all of you going inside of headquarters, I assume that you're seeking out leadership right away, correct?
1:55:11 I would be affirmative. To heal Glaive, to bring him back, yeah. OK. We're getting Glaive back first. That's our top priority. Who is carrying Glaive? Me he's. In. OK. He's in the bag, Sebulon. Yeah, I guess I'm out of the bag. I'm. On Mimi's back and Mimi's carrying me and he's in. My bag. Yeah. OK, cool, I love it. Now what will occur? So you will appear, you'll go to the, let's call it the cleric's temple within the syndicate headquarters, and they will greet you. Hello, travelers.
1:55:54 What? What can we assist you with? A. Friend was felled in battle, can you bring him back? Just pour the diamonds out on the table. We can certainly try. Now where is your friend? One moment I'm just. Going to like dive into the bag and then like pull him back. Out, wait, wait, I hope your legs as you like, head first in the bag and grab on the arms and I pull you both back out. Exactly. Can you help us?
1:56:36 First of all, I need a strength check from Zebul. Oh, that's not good. I'm assisting I. Was all I got a 15 -, 1 is 14 but. Hey, that's not as good as. I could ask for him. It's. Better than a 216? It takes you Mimi, you hear kind of from inside the bag. You hear the voices that be long ago Mimi pull and you both kind of lift him out. So yeah, ultimately you bring glave into the out of the bag. The weight of him drags on both of your arms. Metal scored organic tissue cold and wrong against steel. The quiet hum he once carried is gone. No breath, no spark, just the shape of somebody who used to to move.
1:57:33 You went to back our child. The room kind of goes still when when they see Glave and one of the healers steps forward, but he they he stops short, another kind of just turns away. Then hi syndic Syndic Relvain arrives moments later, eyes sharp, already know that this is not going to end well. You lay down on the table and somebody whispers his name, and another voice kind of answer is flat, that that is not a man.
1:58:19 Silence kind of tightens in the air. Relvain kind of studies glave not with fear, but with disgust. I speak up, I whip around to this person and I go, excuse me, why do you look upon our fallen comrade with disgust and with vain? He fought to protect us. What? Who are you people? Who are you people to judge him based on how he was built? Based upon how he was born? A living soul bound to the construct architecture. This is not a man. This is an abomination. And that word lands like heavy, and a senior arcanist kind of shakes their head and says there's there's no resurrection protocol for this.
1:59:13 To pull his soul would destroy what remains. And Relvain kind of raises a hand and the room goes quiet. He violates accords we hold with life, death and consent and anger begins to breakthrough restraint. And Relvain meets Mimi, especially meets your eyes. We do not bring back weapons pretending to be people.
1:59:54 Wow, it was so right. He was so right, people. He was so right. You people were liars, each and everyone of you. I, I, I I don't. Leave out of here. These people don't deserve to gaze upon him with such disgust as he has passed. He was just a kid. Let's take a. Hold the bag of holding open so that you can push him in clearly. I couldn't do. It by myself. Amy's going to scoop up Glaze's lifeless body and is going to walk out.
2:00:39 And as she like crosses, like the edge of the threshold, she's going to turn on and go, You are all liars and I will remember each and every one of your faces. And she's going to walk back to the Tavern. Oh, she's just going to like, almost growl at her a little bit like Mimi. That's blasphemous. These people are here to help. They do good work, even if they cannot help him. Called him an abomination and a weapon, and they called his soul filthy. Not true, not right. I am a weapon.
2:01:23 I might be blood and bones and flesh and fur. Look in my eyes. O Sisa, do you see a human? No, you don't. She's going to keep walking. OK, so you'll leave the the medics room, What we'll call it as you leave Mimi, where is your Ledger currently located? A Ledger is currently located on like this side of my body, like a satchel I guess. It starts to burn you.
2:02:11 I'm ripping it off and throwing it on the ground. And I'm going to keep walking. OK. Anybody else with their ledgers? Well, I would look at my Ledger. Do all of us have that that burning feeling? Or is it just Mimi? It was just Mimi. Like is there any visible sign of that burn or is it just like she feels it and she starts throwing it off? So yeah, because she threw it off immediately, I'm not going to charge her any damage. But the rest of you who are checking your ledgers, I need everybody to give me an investigation check. Do they see Mimi like RIP it off and throw it though? I mean, I would have I'm going to say yes without even a perception check because Mimi was standing effectively right in front of them.
2:03:15 Mimi left first. Everybody else came from behind because they had None of this is going to apply to you by the. Way I know I ain't even there. OK, good. 18. I'm sorry, Mimi's high key had enough. High key had enough. You're crashing out, kid. Sorry, you said investigation, correct? That'll be a 24. Good, Zebulon and and actually Kasdea give me an investigation check as well. OK. Hold on, I forgot to find my D20. I lost it somewhere in the dog cuddle puddle. I got 17 OK plus something.
2:04:02 All of you notice in your ledgers a completely black page within the rest of your normal pages. Would that apply to me still though? Because technically Mimi took Kaz's Ledger like 2 episodes ago and never gave it back. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right. So technically Kez doesn't even have her Ledger. Mimi has it. OK, OK, so then this then I will resend. This will not apply to you Sevillon and Osisa. You see a black page, very black as night page now in your Ledger. I'm going to focus on it and look for any detail, perhaps leaning into my night vision or dark vision. Sure.
2:04:56 So a seaside would assume you do similar just kind of open it to the to the page. OK, this isn't necessarily anything that we we you know, requires any dark vision or things like that. It is a black page and now written in elegant red ink. Bright red ink, it says. During deliberation concerning revival protocols and classified biological constructs, Agent Mimi issued direct accusations of dishonesty towards Syndicate authority. Statements were made publicly inside the secured chamber during an active review. Agent Mimi is hereby placed under Syndicate Center and Syndicate.
2:05:37 What was it? Syndicate unreliability status updated to distrust for commanding logistical purposes. Access to Syndicate resources as restricted pending a formal review. Mimi, you're going to have to change your name. What at this time, Mimi, you are going to lose all effects and bonuses of the syndicate Ledger. So basically have to like unattune it from your character. Correct. Undertune. And as of right now, I mean, you can, you can still have it in your inventory if you're using DND Beyond, but it will not like the AC bonus and the the spell bonus or you know, the spells, things like that. None of that will apply to you as of right now. You're still welcome to work at the bar, but you might need to like wear some makeup or a mask or something. We'll figure it out.
2:06:39 I'm good at the illusion magic stuff. Don't worry about it, you're still part of the crew. So are you going now? Where are you going after this again? You've left the the medic area for the syndicate. Are you leaving the headquarters completely? Yeah. Well, I mean, we should if, if we can't bring back Glave, then we should give him some kind of burial or burial rites. Leave something else. That's what I.
2:07:21 Was about to say the syndicate disapproves, but the syndicate disapproves. Of the fallen soldier, they called him an abomination. They said he was useless, they called him a weapon. And what am I? Osisa, Can you answer? That question for me, am I an animal? As was glate, I disagree with the. Syndicate's decision not to. Revive him. But it is beyond my power to do so. They did not tell us that we cannot give him proper rights. Of burial, would you?
2:08:07 Agree, he at least deserves that much. Hi everyone, spits a heart here in the crit happens editing Bay. So we learned very quickly in the next. 5 minutes. That Internet sucks sometimes and you lose a bunch of audio because it sounds like this, so we're going to skip ahead about 5 minutes, I promise. You didn't miss anything. Yeah, that like somebody else might be willing to bring him back and. I know I have broken. By Ledger at the Syndicate. But this final act of inhumanity towards. Creature who is most like.
2:08:52 Myself is foul. I will expose them. I don't care how long it takes. I don't care how much people. How many people? I have to kill and slaughter. Mimi, this is the syndicate. Are you sure you want to make an enemy out of a? Group this large, this powerful? Well, maybe I'll just join. The other side for just a moment in your head. You here.
2:09:34 I always welcome new members. You know exactly who it is. She's a Step 10 think. Price He's just listening to us the whole time. Mimi, I need you to give me a. Wisdom saving throw please. OK. 13 when you hear the voice of Neros in your. Head. It almost has. This effect. Of. You see? Now in. Front of you, Neros.
2:10:17 And you? Just immediately go after him and take a slash across the face at him and for a moment you see Neros bleeding and then you blink and then it's just. A regular. Syndicate agent that you just slashed across the face. Holy fucking shit. Mimi, what are you? Doing I'm going to go over. To heal them staring at her. Head and it's flooded and she's just thinking like in her head, why don't I just do that? I don't want to hurt. Neros. Neros might. Be right. I'm confused and I'm lost and I'm scared.
2:10:59 Mimi, I need a wisdom saving throw please. Oh fuck. You blast me. I'm going to say. 2 bad Graves isn't alive. He gives everybody a + 5. To say 1717 OK, yes, you, you begin to you want to go back. At a second slash and what you again perceive as neuros, but as you go to step forward, you blink and you kind of do that, that series of blinks where you're just kind of coming to and you settled down just a bit. You were almost at the point of break.
2:11:45 Oh. Cure wounds on the agent. OK, you can give him Max Max HP with that. OK, tend to. His wounds, you know, kind of stop. The bleeding. By the way, Cassidy, you'd probably hear this commotion. Oh, yeah, the cast. Cast. I was just going to say cast comes. Around the corner like what the fuck is happening right now and looks at? Mimi with a bloody hand looks at the syndicated agent, goes, walks up to Mimi and kind of takes her bloody hand and goes it's OK. And I do have a question out of character before. Before that I need an animal handling check please. Real cool. That's a 19.
2:12:28 OK, OK, you you successfully begin to calm Mimi down. OK, cool. So my question is, is would Kaz Daya having been? In Neuros. 'S clutches for UN quote. Would she know where the. Magistrate is to. Me history check he was ranting about it all day while. He had you tied up. He wouldn't. He wouldn't shut the hell up about it. That's a dirty. 20 OK.
2:13:10 So with a. Dirty 20 with a dirty 20. Yes, you. Know the location of where the magistrate. Is now the. Magistrate from. What you know is let's pull up my notes here, Jesus, not the notes. Where? Oh, where did they go? I apologize for Mimi's actions, she's going off the rails. And I apologize if I harm anyone at one point. Because I don't know yet, OK. So with a dirty 20 cast Daya.
2:13:51 You know that the magistrate is located at the Dominion High Administration Complex, located within the ash and belt. He is a He specializes in. Preventative governance, we'll call it. OK. You know that he's located at the. Headquarters of the Dominion. Which is the Dominion? High administration. Complex. OK. Oh, or we'll call it or. DAC for short DHAC OK. So in order to, I'll continue.
2:14:37 Yeah, in order. To be able to take him, you'll. Need to infiltrate? The headquarters of the Dominion of Fall Reach. OK. So share that with the rest of the party. Yes, OK, 100%. Yeah, I say. What you just said. OK, good. Yeah, so. We got to go, guys. Like now. Osisa you good has going to kind of turn to Osisa. Who's healing the random?
2:15:18 Man, that's. Bleeding from the face. OSIS is going to turn around and be like I'm fine but. I think. Mimi's having some issues. Mimi's fine.
