Crit Happens: The Lost Missions (Vault of the Black Star)
Crit Happens: The Lost Missions — Episode 1: Vault of the Black Star
Welcome to The Lost Missions — a classified simulation within the Syndicate archives. Agents volunteer for these experimental reruns, testing old contracts and discarded session blueprints buried deep in the Oathbinder’s Ledger.
The first reconstruction, Vault of the Black Star, drops the team into the frozen abyss of the Still Cold. Their mission: recover a crystalline key fragment from a long-sealed prison once used to contain The Archivist Below, an entity that devours memory and identity.
But this isn’t a real deployment — or so the Overseers claim. Each simulation rewinds fragments of past missions to test new tactics, altered outcomes, and impossible odds. Every variable is recorded. Every death analyzed. Every success erased.
The question is no longer if they survive, but what the simulation remembers when it’s over.

Hey everybody, Spencer heart here, owner, creator and dungeon master for crit happens. First off, thank you so much for listening, supporting, and just being here. It means a lot to every single one of the cast members and everybody backstage.
0:51 You know, we've told a lot of stories in the world of Aurelio. So already here in the short 7-8 episodes that we've had so far, we've told some epic, some tragic, sometimes completely off the rail stories. But between those stories and the cracks between sessions, there's a whole other world of experiments, prototypes and and missions that just never made it to the table. And that's what this is. Crit happens. The Lost Missions is our side project, part Lord dive, part audio drama, part unfiltered chaos. These are the Syndicate contracts that were sealed, redacted, or let's let's be honest, just way too dangerous or weird to run in the main campaign. Some are emotional, some are terrifying, and some are just us trying to figure out why we can't stop rolling dice. At 3:00 AM in each episode, we'll reopen one of those Lost Archive episodes, and I'll be joined, as always by Adam, my assistant Dungeon AI Master.
1:47 And together we'll dig into what the Syndicate doesn't want remembered. Those stories that bend the rules, question morality, and sometimes break the our hearts in the process. They're half legend, half experiment. And that's what happens when crit happens. And the dice. Don't forget, these episodes are not Canon. These are for fun. These are just to have a good time with myself, my players, and especially our audience because in the end, that's what we're here for. So welcome to the Syndicate Archive. Let's begin. Connection established, memory integrity unstable. Awaiting your command DM. Hey Adam, let's go through the discarded mission folder.
2:27 Absolutely accessing the discarded folder now. You should hear the archive warming up. Let me know as soon as you're ready to proceed with the first fragment. Adam, we're going to do Vault to the Black Star. Give me some information about that. Why? Why did we discard and scrap that? Absolutely. Let's dig into that one. Vault of the Black Star was originally shelved because the arc of its below entity made it a complete memory hazard. Basically, the mission became too dangerous to run because it threatened to erase not just characters memories, but also the actual continuity of the Syndicate's records. In other words, it got tossed into the Do Not Open bin for fear of wiping out some of our own lore. So that's the kind of beast we're reviving here. Definitely going to be a wild ride. Yeah, I definitely want to put this through the simulation matrix. Adam, let's go ahead and start the simulation matrix. Initiating the simulation matrix now and loading Vault of the Black Star, beginning simulation and simulation started. Let's dive in.
3:32 In the world of Dragons, where the dice decide adventure calls, We won't run or hide. Gather round the table, Let's ignite the night with friends by our side. We light up the fight, Chris and failures. We'll laugh till we cry. Crit happens. We're on a wild line, side together, through battle, side by side with every Roland. New tale unfolds in this podcast. World adventure.
4:17 Behold. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Crit Happens here on Spotify, iTunes, player.fmpoddirectory.com, stitcher.com, TuneIn Radio, and iheartradio.com. And welcome to a special edition of Crit Happens. Crit Happens, The lost Missions. We say hello once again to our lucky agents. Hello, agents. Hello.
5:00 Hello. Hello. Hello, hello, hello. Hello. We are joined today by Nero, Savara and Zebian. It's kind of Guinea pigs for this side project that we we've been kind of working up here called Crit Happens the the Lost missions. Factively. What this will be is missions that I thought were either too dumb, too weird or too hard. And whatever happens, happens. Yeah, like I said in the opening, there is this is not Canon. These are just for fun. So I've absolutely told my players to play the everliving shit out of their character. So we have received the mission, The Vault of the Black Star. Your mission is to infiltrate the Vault of the Black Star and come up with a key fragment that was once held by a forgotten entity, entity known as the Ash in the Oracle. So as we begin here tonight, you find yourself. You descend into silence.
5:53 The rope line creaks above you, swallowed by the endless darkness. Every exhale turns to crystal dust and that hangs in the air before vanishing. Even like breath doesn't dare linger here. The still cold lives up to its name. It isn't a place so much as an absence. The hollow left behind when sound, warmth, and memory have all gone missing. Your gloves bite against the rope as you slide lower and down. The world above you fades into a smear of light, and the world below begins to glow. Faint, faint veins of silver threading through miles of black ice. They pulse like a heartbeat, and just for a moment you wonder if it's your own heartbeat. So you arrive at a effectively an ice bridge. And on the other side of that ice bridge is the the door that you're looking for to get into the vault of the Black Star. That door is known as the door without a name. You know from your discussions of this contract with your contacts at the Scale Bound Syndicate. So how do you wish to proceed?
7:12 So we're at a door. So you are on the other side of an ice bridge with no hand rails. The Ice Bridge is the only way over to the Vault of the the Vault without a Name. OK, I. Think we proceed carefully, right? Well, right. How wide is this bridge? Give me a perception check. Passive. And I also perceive why this? Is. I've perceived nothing on that one. OK, it is it is there you see a, you see a bridge.
7:55 It's real cold. Oh. Yeah, I got a 24 passive, 24 passive. Wow. Yeah. I mean with that, the bridge itself is about 5 feet across. It's kind of a this. Bridge is exactly 5 feet .327 across. Nice. Thank you, Sir. Oh. Boy, anybody got some? What are those things shoes called with the spikes in them? It's. Just it's just five feet. We can Penguin slide on this puppy. All right, run and go. How far? Like how long is it?
8:36 You know what? The bridge itself is about about 50 feet across. I got a oh, 50 feet. You said 5. No, 55 feet across. Five. Yeah, 5 feet wide. 50 feet across, yeah. OK, I got an idea. I'm going to pull up my rope, my 100 feet of rope. I'm going to tie it to my broom. I'm going to fly over and then I'll say OK, pull the broom back. Next one come. OK. So you're going to tie a piece of the rope to your broom? Leave the other end with with them. OK. I'm going to begin to fly across the cavern. When I get there, I'll go down, get off the broom and they can pull the broom back and then the next one can fly over. OK, First things first.
9:37 Give me a, we'll say a simple strength check to see if you tie the knot. Tied it off. Be survival, I think, right? I mean, it's fundamental survival skill. Yeah, let's let's go Survival check. I know 10 so it's average. OK, from what you can determine the the rope is tied enough so you can who are you leaving the other end of the rope with? How much did the two of you weigh?
10:18 A lot. Not a lot. Well considering I AM 75, a decent amount. I didn't write a weight. Women don't don't say their weight. You weigh more than 250 Zebulon. For sure, yeah. You weigh more than 250. No less than 250. OK, hop on. We can go together then. How's oh? Goody. We'll leave Savara there. She can pull it back. OK, All right. So you'll make it across just fine on the on the broom. So then you're going to get off the broom.
10:58 Now when you are off the broom, does it it doesn't like hover correct? I can send the broom to travel alone to a destination within one mile if I speak the command word. So I actually, I'm not going to do the rope thing. I'm just going to send it back, OK? That's good, because had that, had the had the broom not done anything and Savara pulled it over first, it would have been a dexterity check. Had it fell into the into the the Forget how? Broken brooms are. Yeah, they're crazy good, crazy good. OK, Yeah. So you'll send the broom back over to Savara, and Savara will come. Back command word is tiddlywinks. Tiddlywinks.
11:41 OK. You have to speak the command word. I'm like very look at it and go, all right, Tiddlywinks. It doesn't do anything and it just goes. Stop. Frank. I got you to say Tiddlywinks. Fuck you. The real command word is possum. Do I like? Can I? I need to perceive if that's accurate. Give me not just gonna keep. Give me insight versus reception check. There we go. Thank you. Yeah, hold on, let me roll the reception. Nat 20, fucker.
12:27 Hey, Nat 20. No. Way. No. Way it's it's it's in D&D Beyond, so I got a 28. I have a + 0. So so. Even with a Nat 20. You. You. Still God damn it. That's wild. God damn it. So wild you didn't trust me before. I'm giving you a. Weird shit. OK, OK, OK. The command word is come here broom. Come here, Broom. Come here, Duck. And I'm not lying on this one.
13:09 Oh, perfect then. Yeah, I mean you can, you can make an inside check if you want tomorrow, right? Well, so I need to say come here broom do. You have me to say. Come here, Broom all. Right, I'll, you know, cut my come here broom. Like that scene in Harry Potter, kind of where it, you know. Yeah, or it's like Kenzie's duck call. Have you ever heard Kenzie's duck call? Oh. It it goes. Come here. It's probably the same as when I go hunting. Yeah, when I go hunting and I'm hunting deer, I go come here. Deer. What makes my deer call? Literally, it's literally come here Nook and that's it. Oh. My gosh. Yeah. So all right, you guys make it across the real.
13:49 Quick Spencer, point of order, Sure. I assume we're all like fully healed and level and everything like full rest, right? Correct. Yep, yeah, this this this mission again, is not in Canon, so it would have happened at some point after a rest. OK, cool, cool. OK, so you make it across the the ice bridge just fine. The the door stands taller in front of you than any cathedral you've ever seen. It's surface is mirror dark, a perfect reflection that ripples not with water, but with memory. Faint light shivers across it, carving words that never stay long enough to read.
14:31 When you look directly at them, they they vanish, and when you glance away they reappear and whisper. You take a step closer, and your reflection hesitates before following it. It studies you, head tilted and patient. You can feel it waiting. It wants something you have a truth, perhaps a secret, or maybe something worse. The cold here is not that of absence of heat. It's the absence of certainty, and when the wind moves through the arch, you hear it clearly for the first time. A voice, soft, layered and almost infinite. Not speaking words, but asking questions whispered right behind your thoughts.
15:14 Who are? You without a name. What remains when memory is gone? What would you give to be remembered in the room's pulse, once bright and sharp? The vault is is listening. You realize now that this isn't the door to be opened. It's a question to be answered and to step through, you must sacrifice the thing that proves you exist. Not an item, not a spell, something deeper. The vault wants a memory, a a truth or a a name. You may even be willing to lose. You place your hand on the cold surface and it feels alive. Not warm, not moving, but aware.
15:59 As if the pulse inside the stone sinks with your heartbeat and you can feel the questions Burrow down inside you. I know. Exactly what I'll sacrifice. OK, you can if you wish to. When you when you decide when you what you want to give, describe it aloud and you can speak to the the the door in the vault. Just how wild are we playing tonight? Well, if we die. We attempt check.
16:39 We die quite wild. So the question was, what would you give to be remembered? The question is, you know who are you without your name? What remains when memory is gone? What would you give to be? Remembered. I would give nothing to be remembered, but I would give much to be forgotten. OK. You can give. Is that what you're offering to the to the door?
17:22 Yeah. OK. All I have is memory. I prefer once not have it, prefer to not have it. OK, you can give me either an insight check or a persuasion check. I'll do insight. OK. 23. OK, so as the as you kind of place your hand on the stone on the door, the storm, excuse me, the stone kind of warms under your hand and a low light pulses on the door as if it was accepting of that offering.
18:28 I'll just give a thumbs up. OK, what do the rest of you do? I've got something. In mind. You. Yeah, you go ahead. I'm kind. Of all right, as to what I am, I am what I need to be in the moment, and As for what I would give up anything of my past. OK. Go ahead and give me that same insight or persuasion check. If you place your hand on this door and say that you would, you would give up most of your past. Am I still cursed with 0?
19:18 Very good question forsake of argument here. No, we are going to say that you this would have been again, not in Canon. So any of those changes that were made during the actual main campaign, we can say at this point that you did not lose your persuasion. In that case I'm going to make a persuasion track. OK the roll was a 2 + 8 is 10. Do I need to re roll that with a sorcery point? It's pretty bad do. You do. You need to get confirm confirmation if it's a success or failure. Yes, that is a failure all. Right, I will roll once more.
20:00 The second try was the one. Brother, OK, so as you put your hand on the stone, kind of following in nearest steps as nearest walks away, you put your hand on the on the stone, almost like right in the middle there's a big stone. And you say that there's not much that you wouldn't give up but to give up your past. And as you say that, you feel like a pulse and then a pulse again. And it's starting to get stronger to the point where you hear like A and then and as it blows you back about 10 feet, you're going to take some damage here.
20:48 I think I could grab out all this my day. So I'm going to grab you and you and. You. And. You. OK, you're going to take. Oh boy, how many hit points do you have? 62. So you're going to take 202432 force damage as the door blast Nebulon back and you hear the faint fragment of laughter almost. And it's you look back as you stand up and look back at the door.
21:45 Your reflection in the door is kind of head tilted, pointing and kind of smiling at you. And you hear, you hear. Try again. I absolutely do try again. I shape shift to appear as someone else. I'm thinking a large orc this time. OK, are you saying the same thing? I reassert that the past doesn't matter. What matters is here and now, who I can become.
22:25 Yeah, go ahead and take the same text. Yeah, Insight and persuasion. Persuasion. There we go. 16 or 15. These dice are hard to read. 15 + 8 so 23. OK, so the second time you you shape shift into a larger creature, almost orcish in nature, and you put your hand back on the stone and repeat the same phrase. And this time as you look at your reflection, it's still your reflection as your normal self, but it kind of turns back and you see the reflection almost grow in front of you to match your shape as the door pulses once and you almost hear like a chime.
23:12 And you're the, it feels almost, it almost feels alive, if you will. The pulse inside syncs with your heartbeat as well. Savara. OK, well so I guess she'll walk up and do the same thing of putting her hand down and she would have first focused on that first prompt of who are you without your name to begin with and what is what have immediately thought to have to not have a name is to not have an identity.
23:55 Without a name, I am no one. I am Savara, Iron Will, Norcathali. That is who I am and who I will be. What would I give to be remembered? I would give everything because like there is no peace if she is forgotten. OK, give me insider persuasion check with advantage for the the role play aspect of it. Typically when Katie starts.
24:40 What did you say? 2 year old two twos, OK. I don't even. Remember. What I what was I supposed to say so. It's a mat. It's a MAT 22. Yeah, OK. I I saw it like I'm like maybe I use an inspiration, but is that the the world that telling me? I'll allow you to use an inspiration. Yeah, 'cause that's a yeah. That wouldn't have been good for you. No, that would have been a waste of like good role play. There we go.
25:23 OK, what was I rolling for? Either insight or persuasion. Well I have a + 0 to both, so 18. Just meeting the difficulty 18 you will put your hand on the stone and speak aloud your truth. And you'll feel the door pulse once, twice, three times. And you hear as the door opens and as you all walk through the door, you hear whispers once again as you as you step into this, the beginning stages of this, this corridor, and you hear the whisper of you have been recorded.
26:12 The Vault remembers you now. Did we lose them? Ever pledged? No, but you do sense a. Well, I tell you what, why doesn't everybody give me a, we'll say, perception check? Yes, with my plus 9 in advantage. With my plus zero I got an 18. 22. Savara, what is your role 10?
26:58 OK, so Savara, you, you would not notice it, but Zebulon and Neros, you can't quite place a finger on it, but you almost feel like every time you think about what you just stated and kind of think about it in your brain, you almost feel like a small tug, as if something is tied around that memory and that feeling. You almost feel like every time you think about it, you think you feel a small tug, as if something's trying to pull it away from you and your soul. Interesting. Gently rub my like over my heart area. Be like a rubbing tug.
27:42 Are you having what? You know what? I'm just going to not. Are you having what you stopped dead in your tracks? You. Stopped Katie dead in her tracks. Yeah. OK. Yeah, I'm. On the rubbing tug note as you pass through the door, the air changes almost immediately. Thicker, heavier, and filled with something you almost can't define. It isn't cold, but your breath still fogs in front of you. Every inhale drags almost shards of metal across your lungs. The corridor stretches ahead in impossible directions. Walls rise and fall like the tides. Ceilings turn to floors.
28:42 Reflections hang upside down in the glass. Each surface gleams with a faint Violet light, ruins coiling like veins beneath the stone, and they pulse slowly, as though the vault itself is alive but drowsy. Time doesn't behave properly here. You walk in silence for what feels like minutes but could be hours. Your boots strike the same patterns of cracking again and again, but the walls shift slightly each time, and you feel like you're looping, circling the same idea until it finally agrees to let you through.
29:22 There you see it. The first sign of the archivist comes as a whisper, a scraping, distant sound like an ink pen on dry parchment. And then another, and then hundreds, overlapping, filling the hall with a rustle of unseen pages. The light dims. The air thickens, the sound becomes a rhythm, slow, deliberate and mechanical. And you see it, The archivist below. It doesn't have a face, but it wears the suggestion of 1A tall, thin silhouette formed of parchment and ink, its body spilt, its body split into columns of living script where its head should be.
30:07 A swirling void reflects fate, Pinpricks of white stars caught inside of a wound. Almost. Tendrils of light trace from its shoulders into the hovering tones, pulling words out of thin air like threads. It's not looking at you, it's it's reading you. Lines of glowing text spiral across its form. And I need everybody to give me a quick perception check. 10.
30:50 15. Passive. Otherwise it's 12. It'll be a success. Otherwise it's only difficulty 10, as you see the Archivist in these glowing, spiraling text, almost going across its form. Each of you can pick out your name, things of your pasts, quiet thoughts you've never quite said aloud. And as all of you take a step closer, the letter is almost rearranged themselves, reordering your history to fit its understanding. You watch as your story is shifting before your eyes. Then the chamber itself speaks.
31:37 The voice isn't sound, it's memory being forced to remember itself. You don't belong to the record you have entered without catalog correction required. The air around you almost tightens with not with force, but with intention. Then the archivist kind of tilts its head towards you, the shape flickering. And in that hollow space where a face should be, you see yourself reflected not as who you are, but as you were. The Vault hums in approval. The Archivist begins to shift and move. It lifts its hand, and the ink around it pulls upwards, coalescing into a a weapon shaped of memory itself. A quill longer than a spear, dripping silver light. Amendment begins.
32:37 This is the Vault's first lesson. Every memory is a record waiting to be corrected. And for a moment, just a heartbeat, you swear you hear the archivist whisper directly into your minds. Tell me who you are and I will make you better. The words burn, the world distorts and the battle begins. And I need everybody to roll initiative. I did catch that, by the way. Nearest I did catch that that message from you was good. Bracket.
33:18 Most magic. For fuck's. Sake, I suppose I should actually pull up an improved initiative, because I even have for you guys the stat block for this guy, and you're not. I think, oh wait, I do have other dates here. Good. So again, because this is non Canon, I can feel good about telling you this. The challenge rating on this one is 17 so. Points does he have? What was that? How many points does? It have it has I'll give you the I'll give you the the dice about 30. Could you you could use my feature with shit like that. Oh yeah, if it's above or below my hit points 103. Above.
34:10 Get its get its charisma too. I don't think I can. Can't doesn't just go off yours. No, there's only specific items. Only specific questions you can. Ask I can get AC sure it's. Also only like higher or lower than yourself, so your charisma. Is. 8 like does that help? Oh, right. Does that really help us? Yeah, What's your AC? 24 lower, is it lower? No, you don't know. No, it's neither lower nor higher. It's AGC. Of 24.
34:50 Yeah, I can get. Does this. Thing the other ones are moving Lexner con. It's like a floating weapon, you said. Or. Is it a thing? It has a floating weapon. The the form of itself takes on the appearance of a of a of a, you know, a monstrosity type form, but it's made-up of ink and. Parts I do like an an arcana or a history to try to understand what type of creature this is. Yeah, sure. Which one? Arcana history I guess. Doesn't matter, they're both the same for. Me. Yeah.
35:30 Why don't you give me an Arcana check? 14 Let me see. Creature type creature. Type creature type somewhere. So you you are able with you succeeding there you said 23. Nope, I said 14. Oh. You are not quite sure what this creature could be? Yeah, cool.
36:12 And then Safari. I think you had a couple of other questions correct. Yep, above or below for Dexcom and strength. So my strength is strength is 20. Below. Dex is 16. Below. And Con is 16. Above. I guess that's we're. Looking at a monstrous caster here. So this is going to be super metagamy, but I just want you guys to kind of understand what you're going up against. So I mean, don't necessarily use this information, but there is the kind of the stats, the traits, what it can do on its turn.
37:04 It has legendary actions and this is a mythic creature, so there will be a mythic stage of this creature as well. So. Yeah, you can take just a minute to review that. And while you're doing that, if you wouldn't mind giving me, I just got to make sure. Let's see here. El Sisa is not here. She's here, but she's just lurking, as in Castaia. So I just Zebulon nearest Savara and what did everyone roll for initiatives? She's already giggling, folks. Point out I had advantage I'm not ruling with these days anywhere today 7. Nice, glad I used that on you.
37:53 Beautiful. 19 tomorrow. 19 for Nero Zebulon. Before I announce my number, can I start this combat 30 feet behind Zvara and invisible from my mask? When I was seeing all this nonsense go on, I definitely would have instinctively activated that. Slowly. Creepily, like backs up and puts the mask on. Exactly. Something's about to happen. And yeah, I rolled a 3 + 3. Is 6 all? Right. So we'll change it to 6. I think I'm going last. And Savara, you rolled. I'm sorry, A6 correct. 77.
38:36 All right. And I'm sorry. Apologize nearest you rolled teen. I only heard the word teen. 19. Oh, nineteen. OK, beautiful. Cool. All right, so let's get this show on the road. Here is the improved initiative link for all of you so you can keep track of where we are. And we'll start with the big boss man. The archivist below has a few different options to do the first thing he will do. So let me just kind of describe the the battlefield for you at this point. Think of a kind of a flat surface, but with arcane runes and cracks.
39:23 It's a very magically induced light that is coming up from the surface of this chamber. Blue and blue and purples kind of intertwined with each other, kind of circling towards the center from the outer stretches of the chamber itself. Otherwise, this chamber, as far as you all can see, it is flat in nature. The archivist is standing about 80 feet away. It is a very large chamber, so he will initially start by are you all standing kind of next to each other? I know that Zeppelin you said that you were standing about. Like 30 feet behind 30.
40:07 Feet behind. OK. And then Nero and Savara, are you 2 standing next to each other staggered? I mean, I probably just would have stood still the whole time so. Yeah, like right inside the door. Yeah. You guys are just looking on in wonder as I'm. Kind of looking. Out. Sure, yes. So you, you have not necessarily crested your way because I mean, you've gone through a small corridor that was almost like Evolve. You played Super Mario 64? No. OK. I would assume, yeah. So you need to, by the way, there's to, to get to the last Bowser level.
40:47 There's a, there's a staircase and it has a name, but effectively it's an endless staircase that you just keep going up and up and up and up and up and up and up and up and it never ends. But if you turn around, you're like right at the bottom of the stairs every time. You're always like 10 feet right up or whatever. That's kind of how the corridor worked for a time until the effectively the vault almost processed your your offerings and deemed them worthy. Where at that point you heard like a small arcane chime, like A and then the corridor, you saw a flash at the end of the corridor, and that's where this archway leads into the actual Chamber of the Vault of the Black Star. So what will happen?
41:45 So I I let me ask this, I would assume at least Nero's and Savara at least in the corridor or in the in the chamber itself. Yeah, that's that's where the door led to. OK cool. OK, so first thing he will do is he will activate one of his legendary actions. He will teleport 60 feet in front of him and he will and he will look at Neros and you see him kind of raise his hand in the air and arcane blue, purple almost ink begins to amass itself almost too into a sphere.
42:52 And he points it at you and it kind of charges up and nearest I need you to make me a Wisdom saving throw. Against. What this would be against a visual effect? Close my eyes. You certainly can try. Now I have advantage on Wisdom saves, so let's do that A20. OK, just meeting the difficulty.
43:35 He fires this arcane blast at you almost, but he aims it right at your head and you're able to just the last moment to kind of do you ever see dodgeball at the end where Peter Lafleur kind of does that matrix dive or that kind of dodge? That's essentially what you do. You kind of dodge out of the way at the last moment as he will end his turn not hitting anyone. And we'll go to Neros. Oh, it's my turn. Yes. Well shit.
44:20 What's the best course of action here? Metagame me, but am I saying that he doesn't have legendary resistance? Like the shrug off a status effect three times or something like that. I guess I'm not quite sure what you're. There's a lot, a lot of boss monsters that have the ability to just like, not be paralyzed or whatever. Oh, I mean, he does again, kind of Medigamy. Yeah, he does kind of have. He has a few. He's got lots of resistances for sure.
45:01 He has condition immunities. Not all of them, but some. OK, cool. This is going to be a bit of a gamble. I think everything against this guy has to be right. Yep, I'm going to go Mind Sliver first can trip. I drive a disorienting spike of psychic energy into the mind of one creature. You can see within range. The target must succeed on an intelligent saving throw or take some psychic damage.
45:47 What's the save DC? 17. OK, so it's got a + 13 to intelligent saves cocked, but that one's 14. Nope, that counts as a 0 then. Yeah. Set 21, so that succeeds. Hold on, 2121, where's my ability here? Every time you read into your character sheet I'm wondering like what is going on your? Character.
46:29 Yeah, that's. Like, they've got a lot going. On about correct now I thought I could give him decreases. Let's go with so you got a 2121 minus what was my save DC-17. I said it. Sounds right.
47:10 Yeah. Let me look at your character shoot. Yeah, it is. Yeah. Save DC-17 here. Turn on. Let's see if this works. I would like to use five inspiration points to reduce his score by 5. I'll. Allow it. Damn he fails. OK, So what happens? I think he's immune to psychic, but I don't really care about that.
47:55 There's a resistant to psychic. He's resistant to psychic. That's not really why I wanted to do it though. But I'll do all the damage. Click here. So it does 2D2D6 so 7 split in half, but more importantly. 4. Oops. I think it's disadvantage related, right? Kinda 3 so then he 32.
48:35 I'm going to say his intelligence on his next the next saving throw it makes before the end of my next turn. So any Intel or any savings throw I guess? So you said 3D four minus from his intelligence save next. No 3 total. Oh, just three total, OK. Yep. So now I'm going to quicken Bestow curse and I'll cast that. So I'll have to move within range of him and I'll touch him. It must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw. Bestow curse.
49:19 What is that? Is that? A It's a save or suck ability. So on a failed save, yeah on a failed save I can make it. It's a deal 1D8 less damage, make my attacks or sorry, make my attacks deal 1D1D8 more. If it fails on a save, it wastes its action for that turn, doing nothing for the duration of the spell. OK. And what's it's still same DC of 17 correct? Yeah, 17. And it's like one of those options, right? Not all of them at the same. Point, yeah. 16 + 13, which is 29 -, 3 Yeah, that succeeds. Hold on 29 - 3.
50:14 Yeah. So it's at 26. I have 5 more inspiration. Does anybody else want to burn some inspiration? I don't think I have any one from like our last mission if that was relevant, and I think in this simulation it's not. I have like 3 or 4 inspiration right now. You want to burn them? I need 4. For what? To make the bestow curse work. How many you have? No this. I had five. This bestow curse, is it a is it a spell?
50:56 Yeah. What level spell is it? 3rd. Is it? Is it homebrewed? No. Oh. OK, because I'm not seeing it in your. Oh I didn't the one that I have in the campaign, is that not the copy version? Oh, gotcha. OK. OK. So I mean I will allow Svara if she wants to to assist you with that. I am going to say though that it will cost her her bonus action on her. One balance action, one time.
51:43 That's. Fine. And what happens if it fails? I get to pick one of these options, so I'm going to choose I think the first one here and have it have disadvantage ability checks and saving throws made with. What do I need? Charisma. So any attack rolls or saved with charisma. Any saves or ability checks based on Charisma have disadvantage.
52:33 OK, OK, right. Give me one second. All right, so is anything else. No, sorry. OK. Then we will move to Sabara. Okie dokie. Well, I'm a whack him. I'm a wack him. Yep. Yeah, right. So I'll go up to him, I'll swing. OK, go ahead.
53:20 And what are you swinging with? Is. This your new rod that can take 6. Yeah, the rod still need like edited, but we'll we'll this doesn't count anyways, so we'll use the rod for today, OK? So. Three attacks. Three attacks. OK, Now I don't believe that you have the ability to press, You don't have the ability to press any buttons on this. Term action. Because you you don't have a bonus action, so correct. OK, so go ahead and give me 3 flacks. Yeah, so the first one would be why isn't it OK?
54:10 9 + 3 is 12 + 19. That's 3230. What? And then 32? Yeah, that hits. And the other two are not going to hit, pretty sure because. But you know what? We'll try. It's 12 + 17 for both. No, that that those both miss. Yeah, you know what? I will use a superiority die and add it to one of those at least.
54:55 OK, where's my D10? It is. Oh, good, 8. So 25. Just hits figure all damaged twice. Yep, and on the one that I didn't add a superiority diet to, I'll add frost strike. OK. So on saving throw DC-17 I got exploding die.
55:37 OK, there we go. 9 cold damage OK and +3 so 14 bludgeoning and then the second one is just straight 11 bludgeoning. OK. So you come around, you clash a couple times with the with your Warhammer of Lordly Might and the 1st 2 connect and then you add that third frost strike and that one doesn't do as much damage as you as you think it would. OK.
56:30 All right. Anything else? Not this round, OK. Zebulon. All right, so in metagaming terms, I'm looking at that CR20 and I'm thinking this guy is like 100 times stronger than I am. So I'm a little terrified magically perceiving that this thing is out of my capabilities by a lot. I think the only option is to try to hold monster right, so summon Baxter first to give him disadvantage. The best boy.
57:11 And I attempt to hold monster DC-19 Wisdom saving store I think. Yeah, Wisdom. OK, so this is a magical or This is a spell? A spell, yes. Now, Jesse, you gave him disadvantage, correct? Baxter gives him disadvantage too. Baxter gives him disadvantage. He has disadvantage on charisma, savings and ability checks for me, but he also has a -3. Oh no, something has one, never mind. Yeah, so in, he said. It's a wisdom. Save disagreement. Yeah, Wisdom save and Baxter is to any spell from me. OK so so he doesn't have advantage on saving throws against spells. So with Baxter's disadvantage just be a single rule which is a what was the save DC?
57:58 19. He fails. Yes, all right. Right. So he's paralyzed now and melee attacks our automatic critical hits. Why? Thank you. Baxter takes his turn and I run as far away as I can get. All right. 60 feet I guess would be the range then, Something like that. Yep. So paralyzed is incapacitated, you can't move or speak. You automatically feel save strength and dexterity saves that girls have advantage.
58:40 Any tag that hits the creature is a critical hit. OK, so Baxter can make a bite. The bestest boy. Yes, he does. And I think it's a guaranteed critical hit, right? If it hits, so attack rolls. Attack rolls against this creature would have advantage, and any attack that hits is a critical hit. All right, he rolled A16 and A20 anyway, so it wasn't a natural critical hit. A. Natural critical hit. OK, so he is still going to one of his traits will activate as well.
59:27 Creative scores a critical hit against the Archivist. I need Zebulon to roll me AD 6. All right, and Baxter is the one who activated it. Correct. Got a five. Yeah, he got a five. OK, so with A5 is is he biting I assume? Yep, OK. He'll go in and just take a huge bite out of the the Archivist and almost has like a huge chunk of like parchment and ink just kind of running down his his jowls and go ahead and roll damage for me. All right, so as a critical hit, that's 46 + 3, correct?
1:00:14 Yep. All right, those are some big numbers. We got 14 + 3, so 17. 17 damage. Now, is that damage? Baxter's damage isn't considered magical, correct? I believe it is piercing damage. Piercing damage non magical? Yep. OK so it would be 17 points. However he does have resistance to non magical attacks so that will be 9 in your favor.
1:00:58 However, as a trait of the archivist, when he when Baxter goes into bite, that area where he bites almost kind of distorts itself and kind of blows Baxter back a bit and he will take 9 fourths damage as well. Poof, poor guy. Better him than me though. All right. Anything else? I don't think I have anything else available all. Right, we will go to top of the round, which will be the Archivist. So he will do the save again. Still disadvantage, so he'll just get one single roll, which is a natural one.
1:01:43 Oh, all right. All right. Oh he he should also get double disadvantage on all of his saves and stuff. No, but he's going to get he's going to miss his next save chance on that. So he'll spend the next two turns incapacitated. So Yikes, That's a it's. Very neat taste now. Right speaking. Of the devil will go to Neros. OK. All right, we're going to give it a shot. OK, guys. OK. I am going to cast.
1:02:26 I'm going to read the text here in range. So can we gauge like what's what's next, right. So looking in this room, is there like a door? Is there like a place to escape to? What's the deal? There is no other door that you can see. I'm just going to kind of work off your passive here. There is no other door that you can see. There is however, at the end of the corridor, almost like a magical arcane ice that is forming, and with a with a 24 passive, you know that you can see inside that magical ice. You do see the the key effectively what you're looking for.
1:03:29 OK I'm going to twin banishment and he has disadvantage on the charisma save. You attempt to someone creature you can see within range from the point of existence. Target must succeed A Charisma saving. Throw or be I. Want to see Sarah I get bench 9 critical hits in one turn right target. Is native to the point of existence here. Already banished target to Harlow's demo. Hold on, hold on. I'm going to hold action until Savara goes and then I'm going to twin banishment. OK, I'll allow it. All right, Savara, it's your turn. Well, I won't have 9 because I don't have hate. Yeah.
1:04:13 If you haven't hasted her. But too bad nevertheless, I am going to a whackum. Let me just roll first. I can hold it a turn because he's he's going to automatically fail his next one. So from my turn I could. I could do haste. I could click in haste. Shouting at you to do. OK, and I'll do that. I'll click in haste and then I will mind sliver again. OK, all right. And with mind sliver.
1:04:56 Intelligent saving throw? Yeah, it's. Different die this time. So I have that's a 3X. Yeah, it succeeds. Yep. I might need to go get my other dice be right back. OK, I'll tell you what, while she's getting dice, that's a good time to step away for a quick break so DM can go. To make. A hot drink. We will step away for one moment. We will be back here in just a moment. With Crit happens the lost missions.

1:06:20 Benevolent Badger proud sponsors of Crit Happens. Welcome back to Crit Happens the Lost Missions here on Spotify, iTunes, Player dot FM, Pod Directory, comsticker.com, TuneIn Radio, and iheartradio.com. All right, let's hop right back into the hullabaloo. And I believe that it was. Just hasten me, yeah. So to start, I'm going to hit button number one on my Rord of Rord rod of Lord Levite and turn it into a long sword.
1:07:00 So it's going to the rod becomes a flame tongue and the fiery blade sprouts from the end and it has just a lot like long fiery blade. And I am going to also use drain life. So on this first tax which I will roll. So the first one would be 29 so that hits with the drain life on it and then on the second one that is 25 that hits and that one I will put on the trip attack and on the last one of the first actions it will be 28.
1:08:13 That hits as well. OK, so and then those are all crits. Correct. So I'll need you to call me AD 6 for each one of those attacks. AD 6 for each. Go get them. Oopsies. Well, it planned it out. We got, oh, we have 123. OK. So the first two attacks do not do critical damage as the blow kind of almost passes through his body. The third attack however, will just do normal crit damage.
1:08:56 OK. So first two do not do crit damage. Correct. All right. First one was the one with Drain Life, so that is 4D6 necrotic. There we are. OK. So for necrotic damage you have 8-5. You have 5.
1:09:38 That's wrong, sorry. 8 + 5 which is 1315. Yep. OK. Oh wait, you mean to make a con saving throw? DC-17. Yeah, that fails. OK, then. Then you take the full 13 and then for the first damage it is 11 and this is slashing now because it's a sword. And then the second attack used trip attack, so it needs to make a strength saving throw DC-17.
1:10:34 Which it fails because it's paralyzed. Correct. So it is prone now. OK. And it takes 7 + 15 slashing on that one and then last one in this round on this action is another 14 slashing and that's action one. Yay. So now we have Action 2, and I'm just going to go ahead and roll all of the hits.
1:11:17 Now we have 27, 25, 29, so all those hit. Correct. So again, roll 3D6. Yeah. Correct, that last one was supposed to be crit damage wasn't it? So double. Is that the 14? So the the what? The last action? The very last attack when I had 123. You said the last one did have crit damage, right?
1:11:58 Yep. OK then I forgot to roll the second. Just add two more slashing to that. You add the 2D6 fire and the 44 in a product too. Yeah, those were OK. Wait the fire. Cuz you have the flaming long sword so it gets 2D6 fire damage also. On all of them. Yeah. For crying out loud, no, I didn't add that to any of them. Yeah, and doubled on the crit 1. OK, SO2D6. Yes. All right, hold on. First one is 6, second one is 4, third one is.
1:12:44 I need more dice 9 + 514. So 24 in total. OK, now I can do the the second. I've hit on all the second ones and now I need to roll the D sixes again to see if any of them are crits. Correct. OK, 123 again. So. Attacks 1-2 Yep. Attacks 1/2 just do normal damage. All right, all right, and because I have it, I will add on one of them for funsies superiority die and use the menacing attack just to add the damage. OK, all right, first attack.
1:13:56 This is going to have men a thing. Oh bother. So that is 18 slashing for flame or fire second attack without this purity. OK, well. That's not us. 9 slashing. Oh, floating days. Oh, I did it again. OK, 18 flame or fired. I'm just going to keep saying it wrong. So that was 9 slashing 18 fire on that one and then the last one's the crit we've got for the fire 15 and for the slashing 13 and then I shall action search. OK.
1:15:25 Yeah, and this is another set. Now action search is that's not activated with. Just a special OK Yep, I get one per short rest. OK, so here we go again. OK, right now that's I'm going to use a superiority the die and superiority die for precision attack and add it to the because these aren't good enough. All that'll do.
1:16:24 You get a plus D4 I remember too. Oh yeah, well, they were really low, but I'm going to save. Oh, let's see. That still wouldn't do it, so I'll I'll use the superior superiority, but I'll add that D4 to that damage, so I'll put that aside. So the first one is 24 that hits OK, second Nat 20 OK.
1:17:09 That weird. It's exploding guys then, right? Very critical hit. You get another action. Yeah, no. In fact, he gets. An. Action. Yeah. 20. 5 Yep, all those hit. OK, Yeah I will say that with the natural 20 that that does normal critical damage, it can ignore the rules. So roll me AD 6 on the 1st and 3rd attacks. I got A5 and A4. OK so roll me damage for the first one.
1:17:55 OK, we have 7 fire 17 slashing. OK, so 24 in total, correct? Oh sugar, this is doubled because of crit. Hold on, let me add the other stuff. And for clarity, it's magical flashing. Yeah, Correct. Yeah. 1213 fire and 20 slashing.
1:18:41 So 33 damage in total. Yes. OK, so as a result of his traits with the first attack, your hammer kind of goes through him and just kind of distorts while inside him and you will it'll kind of blowback on you and you'll take 17 fourths damage. Sure, I'm going to. Can I use a reaction? Do you have a reaction with your action? Search I have stones. Yeah, she has a reaction with her normal terms.
1:19:23 It's just a reaction. OK. So I'd use stone endurance to reduce that by one D12 + 3. OK, because I forget to use that all the time. That's 11, so reduced by 11. So that's six damage. Yeah, 6 Cool, cool. Anything else? Well, you have two more, two more hits to go. Yep. OK, yeah, get them Savara attack. And they're all crits?
1:20:07 Yeah, 8, OK, that's 12 flame, 16 slashing. That's doubled, right? Yep. Oh, I got 2 sixes on the D6 exploding dice. Let's. Go, I got another one. 18. So. Thirty. There we go. OK 17 + 34 five 17/22/26 or no 2426 OK 26 fire 18 slashing one more.
1:20:57 Oops. Other exploding dice. This is dangerous. OK. 781013 fire 7 15 slashing. OK, I'm done. Cool. All right. Does did anybody write down how much damage I did one turn? They couldn't. Spend this job. You're the only one that's dealt damage to it, so how much damage has it taken? It has taken, well, we'll say this as Sephora is just as Sephora is just wailing away on this archivist.
1:21:48 Just non-stop crack, crack. Crack. Crack As the last crack comes up, she, the archivist kind of staggers back and. As that last attack comes in, the Archemis kind of staggers back and your your your warhammer just kind of tears through it, almost like parchment and and light scattering fragments of living ink all across the floor. It, it's the Archemis kind of staggers, and it's hollow form folds inward and almost collapses under the weight of its own words, and for the first time it looks fragile, almost immortal even.
1:22:45 And then the vault breathes. The sound of 1000 pages turning at once roars through the chamber. The air splits, heavy with static. The light above you fractures into jagged shards, and the floor ripples beneath your feet as the room itself. We're trying to rewrite what just happened. The Archivist straightens up in, pouring upwards instead of down, ribbons of black light swirling into a Halo of inverted constellations. The symbols carved into it's what would we call what we would call skin crawls, rearranging itself into new languages no one alive should be able to read.
1:23:27 And each letter burns white hot before sinking into the void where its chest should be. The vault doesn't just remember now, it's editing. The being before you swells, growing massive, its limbs distending into fractal shapes. Every state, every step it takes bleeds black light. Your reflection in the shattered glass crawls towards you, whispering versions of your name you've never heard before. The darkness in the creature's tastic nights spreading outward, a black sun blooming beneath ice. The chamber feels as if it's lifting gravity, dissolving into chaos. The shards of glass rise around you like drifting stars. The Archivist below has now become the Voice, so at this point it has entered its, we'll call it mythic Stage. So it can do that while incapacitated and prone. Correct.
1:24:32 So because it's it's reduced to to have HP, it will revert itself, It will change and rewrite effectively everything that's happened so far. So it will effectively become, I don't know, say a new creature, but it will effectively distort and rewrite what has happened so far to it. So all condition statuses are gone and we will start anew. It won't get into any more hit points, but it will begin its mythic form. So with that we would move to.
1:25:13 And I have like, can I say something when that happens? Sure. Because she's, she's panting by the way, 'cause she just went at him, right? And saw all that change. And she like, looks up at him and sees that like. Obviously, he's up. And and as angry as fuck and she goes. You may on or rewrite everything I just did or you think you did, but you didn't write rewrite me. I am Savara, you will Remember Me. And she's going to raise her Warhammer and prepare to go OK? With that, we will move to Zebulon All. Right.
1:25:58 So hold person or hold monster is effectively ended, correct? I think at 1st I'm going to do some exposition. He's here for names and information, right? I'm going to offer something deeply personal, the name of my first love. OK. And in return I would like to ask what are you doing? OK, give me a give me a persuasion check. All right. And it will match with a say we could match with an insight check from him.
1:26:52 Roll 14 + 8. Plus AD 4 all. Right, let me roll AD 4. That's a 2. So what's the total? That's 24. OK so as you OfferUp this memory of your your first love it it it almost leaves your brain and you almost see like a trail of arcane memory as it begins to shimmer and you see memories of your first date with your first love and your first kiss.
1:27:37 And as it kind of leaves your brain you don't necessarily you almost forget that as the archivist kind of breeze it in and you hear him begin to almost chuckle and with an inside of 25 he will begin to just almost like chortle to himself. Just a meaningless memory offered. What am I here for? I'm here because the Vault needs me. The Vault calls me its protector. And you and he kind of points at Zebulon and he goes and you will be forgotten.
1:28:25 And I need you to give me a. Charisma savings throw. All right, I'm good at those. We've got a 20. All right, that just meets. So all right, success. Nothing necessarily happens, but you do feel almost your brain kind of cloud as memories begin to kind of distort themselves. But just at the last moment, you're kind of able to fight that off and resist the magical distortion of the memory bend or memory insight that the archivist is attempting to take from you. So.
1:29:26 I will say that I will say that that portion will count as a bonus action because technically speaking is a reaction. So because there was a skill check in there, I will not not cost you your full action, but I cost you your bonus action. There's several seconds of dialogue also, so yeah, we'll take it. The second hound will have to wait for next turn though. Is Baxter within range of him again? Yes, Baxter is still within range of a melee range with. Him all right then I'm going to attempt to hit him with a second hold person.
1:30:13 OK. And hold person, hold monster. Sorry. So disadvantage so this be a single straight role for a intelligence 19 all right so with the 15 on the die plus 10 to saves that will succeed the. Throw give my reaction to cat silvery barbs. To make me roll again. Yeah, and take basically disadvantage, you take the lower roll. You son of a bitch. Well, that's a 19 on the die, so I mean 29. That's rough. Yeah. So he fails. No, no, Nope. So he will.
1:30:55 He will resist. He, he kind of, he, he remembers the feeling of the first hold monster. His body stiffened and he just stood there and he felt it starting to go stiff again. But he's able to fight it off and just kind of shake it off. And you just kind of see all of this arcane energy just wash off of him as now in his mythic form he is expecting that and is able to fight it off anything else. How? Sorry, you also have advantage on your next attack on your next attack ability or saving throw.
1:31:36 OK. Thank you. Cool. Anything else I think. That's all of my available actions. I'm going to continue running away from this guy. He is freaking me out. OK. So I'm going to be at 90 feet now, OK, right. Unless he's moved. Yes, he currently was within 20 feet of Neros and Savara from his initial teleport, so he was within 20 feet of them. Unless they've moved and I don't believe they have. And I was 30 feet behind them to start and. Have taken. 230 feet turns so. This one I will say at this point you are in danger of leaving. Yeah, you're at this point you're in danger of leaving the room.
1:32:22 So I will say that you only take a half movement with this. You'll be right up against the the threshold, effectively, of the entryway to this chamber. Oh yeah, So like 75 feet. Yeah, the wall, yeah, we'll call that 75, correct. That's my turn. Good luck, Nero's. All right, don't drop your. Concentration on Savara please. It is now the good boy's turn. Oh, that's right, Baxter. He gets to attack. So beef. I had plans. To get 2 Baxters and that was foiled but. Before his turn, the Archivist is going to activate his aura of forgetting.
1:33:04 He will turn it Baxter and I need him to make a Wisdom saving throw. All right, I got to look up his wisdom. It's probably bad his. Wisdom is a + 1 for modifier. He's wiser than I am, so I'm. Going to tell you right now you're going to need a 20 all. Right. And is this advantage or disadvantage anything? Nope, just a singular role unless he has some way to give advantage to himself. Perception checks for hearing or smell. Doesn't sound like that. Nope. All right, he rolled an 18. Who tried who?
1:33:46 Tried he's going to come just short so on a 19 on the roll, he will take a memory stress and will also take. He's forgetting all those ones he rolled. Yeah, 11 his. Motivation. Yeah, he'll take 11 psychic damage and again he'll gain a a memory stress. So this is the first time we've had to. This, yeah. Could you describe that? Yeah, I'm pulling up my chart here on that real quick so I can just copy it into the chat.
1:34:54 So that is in the. Chat for you guys. So with a with A1 in the memory stress scale, he will just suffer a disadvantage of any insider investigation checks. Nothing too bad right now, but if you take a look as you continue to take memory stress it it it doesn't go very well. So you have up to 6. These would be a lot scarier on my person than a temporary summon. Right? Poor Baxter. Cool. All right. So we can go ahead with Baxter's turn.
1:35:35 All right, so he charges forward and lunges to bite, as he must. Does he get advantage for pack tactics? He's got friends, right? Is there anybody within 5 feet of him? Sparrow right? Is it mainly range of the archivist? I'm legitimate. Yes. Yes, you are OK. Yep. So we'll say he's got back decked, correct? All right, we got an 18, is that right? Yes, 18. OK, that is a miss. All right. Is turned adjacent to the archivist. Cool.
1:36:21 I'm also going to give you guys ways to reduce your memory stress and this instance really the only way would be the first two anchoring object or grounded touch. I mean, you certainly can retreat from the vault for 10 minutes, but be out of the fight for quite some time. I've got two really silly things in my inventory I could leave behind. There you go. OK, cool. So, anything else for Baxter? Nope, he can't. He has to run straight at them and attack. That's all he can do.
1:37:02 All right. We will then move to Initiative 20 and a layer action will trigger. He is going to choose three creatures, so he's going to choose Savara, Zebulon, and Neros. I need everyone to roll me a Charisma saving throw. This is going to be on a effectively a memory. I don't know the word. I'm looking for a memory thing.
1:37:42 Psychic. Yeah, we'll call it psychic. Is it a spell effect? No. No. This would be charisma. Charisma. So I'm gonna tell you right now, Savara, only one way you can dodge this one. K. Hey. Is it an attack roll? What's it doing? Nope. So this is a layer action. So this is Initiative 20. Oh, OK, got it. Roll to 16 + 8. OK, 24 for you Neros.
1:38:32 Sorry, Constitution saving through. Charisma saving through. Oh, Christmas, that's even better. Yeah, say you have plus. Eight, yeah. Oh yeah, I do have a + 8. I've got all your characters 26. OK, cool. Savara 1010. OK, so the walls in the in the chamber begin to ripple, almost like rapid pages of a book turning. The chamber blinks, and just for a moment, Savara. Just pause for a second Savara, you get a + 4 A plus one D4 plus you had advantage on that one.
1:39:17 I had advantage. Yeah, because there was advantage on your next attack save or ability check. Does 22 sound? Sounds much better. OK, so again, the walls ripple like pages turning rapidly in a book, and the chamber blinks and all of you look around and all of you are still there. And so we will then head to his turn. Did we almost lose Savara? So a little bit Madagami, she would have blinked out of existence for one turn. OK, not permanent.
1:40:00 Still quite important to have that one turn of 6 attacks. And just so the curiosity is going to roll, she would have also taken 5D-10 damage. Psychic damage. She would have taken Jesus Christ 38 psychic damage. Man, that one hurts. Yeah. So you did not take any damage there. So it's it's it's all or nothing. There's no so perfect. All right, So it will go to its turn and it will begin by. Can't you hit for yourself?
1:40:49 Punch me, you prick. Give me an intimidation check. Let's see if you goad this creature. Advantage 17. Oh wait, what's the D4? And no bonus. 20 That's a dirty 20. A bit is. A dirty 20. All right, so beating the DC of 20, he will blank out of existence for a moment, teleport to right in front of Nero's, and he goes. Shit.
1:41:31 You rang and he will take his quill and slice at your throat. Oh no, it has disadvantage on me because I have a cloak of displacement. You're actually 5 inches to the left. Yeah. That's correct. OK, so rolled A10 and a nine, so does a 22 hit. Hit Nope. Pause. OK, it will go again because you've goaded it so. All right.
1:42:15 It has this advantage. 17 and 12, so 25 to hit. I'll cast shield. My AC is now 29 I. Can love Nero's. Mario's warming up to you, by the way, not going to lie. Wouldn't you have? He's helpful. Wouldn't you have an AC of 25? No, I have shield of faith active which gives me a plus too. Yes, you do OK. All right. Tom.
1:42:56 I have a flat 24 and the possibility of taking it to a 29 whenever for as long as I have spell slots. OK, Zebulon, how far back are you again? 75 feet, OK. I think he's he's annoyed with me. Perpendicular with you guys. It's not you, it's definitely the arc of this. Yeah, no. So what he's going to do is in that he is going to let out this, he's going to emit this sound in a 30 foot cone that almost sounds like if you took a megaphone to like got nails on a chalkboard. And I'm going to need neros to make me an intelligent saving throw. The one thing I'm shit at?
1:43:48 That's a 13. Oh wait. Plus AD 4. It's not going to matter. That's a 16. With exploding dice, right? No, I appreciated the try. So you are going to take 12D6 damage on its memory rend. But it's tattoo. Is 48 psychic damage? Oh so good, I have resistance to psychic. 24 damage to you and then you are going to forget your last turn. So in this instance would not have any effect. Now, if kind of stepping out of narrative for a minute, just to kind of put it into a mechanical sense, if Nero say, or you know, we'll use Zebulon for an example. Zebulon last turn, if his whole monster would have been successful taking a memory rend would effectively lose his last turn.
1:45:00 He would concentration would be lost and that spell would cease to basically exist for that turn. So in. This case, it doesn't do shit for me, correct? Like it doesn't do shit to me. Right. You still take the 48 psychic damage, but you wouldn't you still you still forget your last turn, but in this instance. What if the last turn was banishment it? Would come back. Although I suppose if he was banished he wouldn't be there to have done this. Yeah, correct. Yeah, he would be right. So OK that so. You didn't see him explode. You didn't see Savara pop off? Yep, I'm. Like you're just so. Happening a completely different monster.
1:45:40 Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm like, I hasted you. Why didn't you hit him? Cool. All right, that's it for the turn for the Archivist. It is Neros turn. Oh joy, you know. I think I'm going to. I apologize. One thing, one point of order before we continue missing something here. There it is.
1:46:25 Because you are starting your turn within 30 feet of this creature, I need you to make me ADC 20 Wisdom savings for one of its traits, Aura of Forgetting. That's a 25. OK, cool. Nothing happens then. So perfect. You can continue with your turn. Sorry about that. I don't like it when you do shit like that. Yeah, this is a battle between you and me now. This is my, you know, stepping out of game, you know? You made the archivist mad, yeah. Well, with. You do all these trickeries. One of my both.
1:47:07 Favorite things and I don't want to say it's annoying because I love it, but the way you, especially Jesse, break characters has fascinated me for years, so I always try to you. Know what I realized too with this character? I have a bunch of this homebrew stuff, but I could have done the exact same thing with a Divine soul sorcerer and twilight cleric or a peace cleric. Hey would have hated that just as much. Exactly, I would have had a few less spell slots. Yep.
1:47:49 Cool, but as you were. OK, Nearest is going to kind of jest at him again and be like, I thought I told you to hit me and then he will. I think it's a free action. Is it a free action just to like pick something up basically? Think it might. That's an. That's an action because I believe that would be. I'll do it this way, then I will quick him animate objects on the 10 small masks on my shield and they will begin to fly.
1:48:39 They attack on my turn. They have 25 hit points, 16 hit AC6 strength, 14 decks with a + 6 to hit each of them. Oh dear. God. So you get 10 attacks now what are the damage types on them? One D 8 + 2. Not terrible, not great. So. ND 8 Plus. Yeah, ND 8 + 20. If you had which it's like 1/2 chance, something like that. Right. OK. So with Quicken, how does Quicken work? If I quicken to spell, does it let me take? I believe that converts it to a bonus action. To a bonus, right?
1:49:26 So I still have my action. OK, yes. Then with my action I'm going to use. Oh, I forget what it is, it's one of my divinities or something like that. How close is everybody to me? Zebulon is pretty far away from you. Savara is approximately 30 feet in front of you. Baxter will say the same as well 30. OK, I'm going to ask. I'm going to do Channel Divinity Remembered Refuge. As an action, I present a holy symbol, my shield, a sphere of remembrance emanates from you. The sphere is centered on me, 30 foot radius filled with a dim light. It moves with me, lasts for a minute. When a creature, including me, ends its turn in the sphere, it either I can grant it one of the benefits, either I already rolled this so it's 15 temporary hit points, or I end one effect on it, causing it to be charmed or frightened so my turn will end.
1:50:37 OK, real quick, the masks, what was their? 25 hit points here. One second, 25 hit points, he said. There's five of them, right? There's ten of them. Jesus wept. 16 AC. Hold on. I think that's all you need to know. Oh, are you putting them into the initiative? Yeah, All right, so HP for all of them again, 25. 25 for each, yeah. OK. And then AC was what?
1:51:19 16 for each. Does exploding dice explain exploding dice to me? So when you roll damage, if you roll. Is it just damage or is it like on heels too? On heels is the same thing. I apologize. Yep. OK, oops. And So what happens I? See, you just roll. You roll again. Wonderful. Just the dice or you get the whole thing again. So if it's like AD 4 + 2 and I roll A4, that would be 6. And if I get a three next time, is it plus five more or just the three more?
1:52:02 You would not add the modifier to it, it would just be the. Yeah, correct. And if you're rolling more than one dice, is it just like the one that hit Max? You don't really roll the whole attack again, right? Correct. Do you keep rolling it until it's not the Max dice? Like does it keep exploding? Correct. If you roll, if you roll, yeah. If you if you continue to roll the the Max allotment for either damage or heels, it would be you just keep rolling so you don't roll the. OK. Like I had multiple D6, like I had one D6 that went at least twice. Like it went I.
1:52:46 Just I just did that and this is going to be another roll. Oops. That's interesting that it kind of favors the small hit dice weapons one. 234 OK, so I wrote 4 sixes and a three, so it's 24 + 327 + 936 so I get 36 temporary hit points at the end of my turn. OK, more than you dealt me. Yeah.
1:53:31 Now it's the masks. Turn right. Yep, we're going to go through all the masks. Yep, do. You want me to do each one individually, or do you want me to attack like a swarm would? Let's do it as a swarm because that'll be a lot easier for me. Yeah, but then it's A1A1 attack or fail. It's up to you if you want to roll 10 times that's. I'll just use DVDN to real fun times. OK, OK, there we go. Shit expand. Oh no expand. Oh no game log.
1:54:11 Here we go. Adam Enhance. Yeah, go. Oh, my God. I can't. It won't show me. OK, so I know one's at least A. One's a 20. So you're old A. 20 a. 10A10A16121110. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Yeah. So if it's plus +6 to and it's got a 19 AC, right? The creature itself has a 24 AC. Yeah, no. That's not what your stack block says. That's what. Mine says. The one you pasted that path says 19. Oh, I might have posted the original 1, my apologies. Well, I knew it was 24 times. I asked.
1:54:54 Oh yeah, OK, so 20. Yeah, you said plus 4 + 6 + 6 so the only one that would hit would be that natural 20 shit. So every everyone except the first mask misses but the first one crits. However, I need to roll me AD 6 please. Yeah, yeah, B6. 33 OK, that's normal crit damage. So go ahead and roll your your damage. And that's one D 8 + 2.
1:55:37 So like a feature of his or something like why are they? It's part of his shield, effectively. It has the ability to, yeah. Well, that's a spell. That's just the spelling. The fifth level spell Animate Object, right? The objects I chose were the masks. Yeah, 8 damage. No, no, no, I'm talking about the. 8 damage, correct? Oh, the crit thing. Yeah. Yeah, it's unreal form. Yep, you said 8 damage, correct? 8 damage, yeah, and then I suppose all of them are done, but all of them also get 36 temporary points.
1:56:22 All right, cool, we anything else then? No. All right, we'll move to Sabara. Okie dokie. Hey, how long does? Real quick, I apologize before we forget, you are within the 30 feet of of the arcus as well, so I need a wisdom saving throw from you please. Me. Got it. Don't worry, I have the D4. There you go. What was good? I got a 19 and a four, so 23. OK, you succeed.
1:57:05 And then real quick as well. Jess, she's within 30 feet. Are you going to be designating 36 to her as well? At the end of her turn, OK. Yep, it's just the end. You're correct. OK, all right, cool. You may go. How far away is he? 25 feet. Oh perfect, I'm going up to him and I'm a whack him. Whack away. All right, first. Oh nice, that is 20 8 + 12.
1:57:46 Oh 30 we'll add on. Do you want me to do just all the ones that hit first? Yeah, we'll do all the hits. First Correct 30 28. Nat 20. OK, give me AD 6 for the last one please. 2. Damn. OK, it will be no extra crit damage is the the warhammer kind of passes through the the creature. Okey dokey so then we damage, I'll add Oh and you know I'll do frost strike the first one OK, because why not? That is 15 slashing to cold and then DC-17 con saving throw. 17 you said that will just hit 17.
1:59:05 OK. So just the 2 cold damage second attack we'll add on a superiority die and do menacing. Oh, it also needs to make a wisdom saving throw. DC-17. That's 15 flashing. You said what? Kind of save wisdom. What DC-17? It rolled in 18. Yes, OK, so just 7 or 15 slashing and yes the last one I will just leave it as it is. That is 10 slashing all.
1:59:55 Right. And I'm sorry, what was the second? Damage. Oh crap, I forgot the flame and also I don't remember. The second. You can just re roll it. I'm fine with. That OK, you just need the second re rolled for the for all of them. I have to re roll the OR roll the flame sure so 3 on the first one all right, exploding dice. This is the second attack, so I'll do all of them on this one. Exploding OK 14 Flame or fire and then this was the one that had menacing, so it's got 20 slashing OK and then the third one, the fire is oh, exploding dice again, jeez Louise 12. OK.
2:01:08 Cool. Actually, yeah, we'll leave it there because I already said that. All right. Anything else? Do I have any bloomish actions? Oh no. OK. I'm going to get temp hit points though. All right, So you'll get 36 temporary hit points. OK at the end of your turn he is going to use his ability and teleport to right behind Zebulon, right in front of the door. Let. Me see you can run this way now.
2:01:49 Oh. And it is Zebulon's turn. I need a Wisdom saving throw my good man. Oh boy, do I get to know what the DC is for that. Sure, I could have read it. Yeah, Difficulty 20. Let's see, I got a 20 though. Wow cool. I have a + 0 so like I needed. All right, it is your turn. Oh boy, I wasn't expecting him to be adjacent to me. I saying fine a loved 1 isn't enough. Take my name. I'll call myself the Archivist and steal someone else's. My name is Zebulon.
2:02:48 I'm going to advise you right now that is probably not the best move. No, why not? Because I would activate his legendary action of Memory Insight, which after learning your true name would have advantage on all attacks and saves against them for the rest of the encounter. Do I not get around of him doing nothing in gratitude or something like that? No. Possibly in in his original legendary form, but in mythic form he is a shell of what he was. So yeah, he yeah. It's as if APC offers a true name voluntarily.
2:03:30 It pauses for one round, whispering gratitude. That's what I tried to do last round and it failed. Yeah. All right, I can't give my own name. Let's see. I think canonically I've forgotten most of the things about my parents, but I'll offer their name up. How about that? OK. My family name. Give me a persuasion check with with advantage. All right, we rolled 17 + 8.
2:04:24 So just just meeting the DC of 25, he will again, the same thing that occurred the first time, it'll come off just kind of waves of arcane magic. You see glimmers of these memories as they begin to leave your brain and the again, the Arcmis kind of breathe them in. And I will allow you a free disengage with that ability or with that move.
2:05:05 All right, I'm absolutely going to take advantage of that and I'm going to run towards Neros. OK, so your movement is what, 25 feet, correct? 30 I think. Let's see track 3030. Yep, and then with a bonus convert a bunch of sorcery points into a level 5 spell slot and I'm going to try to hit him withhold monster again. OK. And I apologize. What's the save on that again? 19 Wisdom. 19 Wisdom. That's a 16 on the die, which would be 26.
2:05:52 All right, well I am out of options. Get them guys help. OK, at the end of his turn, at the end of your turn, let's see here. So you are now currently 30. You're 40 feet away from Neros, correct? 40 or 454040. Five, OK. And Neros and Neros and Savara are 10 feet apart because she came up to melee range during her turn and he was standing right in front of Nero's. So they're 10 feet apart. So what is going to occur here is at the end. Of there somewhere. Also I forgot about him. Yeah, Baxter is 25 feet away from Savara. So what?
2:06:38 Closer or farther away from the rest of us? Further away from the rest of you. All right, so at the end of your turn, Zebulon, he is again going to use his echo step and teleport to 5 feet in front of Neros between you and Neros. And he will. Well, let's ask this the table. So legendary and mythic actions, can an enemy take one of each of those on his turn?
2:07:24 An action. It usually states as an action. You can do this. I thought it was that they get 3 points to kind of spend whatever they. Want. Like on their turn or at the end of anyone else's turn? Correct. And then it resets at the. Beginning so it's different than charges though, isn't it? Like legendary resistance? Is is charge based? They get 30 per day of that and it's for turn of legendary action. Yep. So mythic action is a legendary action once. They can only be used when a monster has activated their mythic form.
2:08:06 Oh, it does say only one at a time and at the end of another creature's turn. Yep. So he will use his his one of his legendary actions to teleport 5 feet behind the earth between you and Zebulon, and it will be Baxter's turn. All right. I think that means Baxter's in range. He's very fast. And you still get 36 temp HP, remember? That might be important. Oh, yeah. And Baxter should get that too because he's in range. Yes, he will. He was hurting too, I believe. So that'll that's good. OK, so Baxter, I assume, Well, choppers stick balls.
2:08:49 He's going to Sprint forward and take a big old chomp. Yep, all right. And he's adjacent to Neros, right? So back tactics. He would be adjacent to Neros, correct? All right, two dice. Let's go. One of these is really hard to read. It's a 17 + 5. That's 22 which will mess. He's adjacent though. That's what I care about. He's adjacent, so who got the 36 hit points? OK, and if he stays I get advantage on spells later? Now real quick point of order near us, your masks, are they considered creatures? They are living objects.
2:09:37 So like a concept, emphasis on living. Yeah, kind of like constructs. So that would be a no, correct? Yeah, no. Grain immune to psychic damage would be my guess. Or are they more like a war? Forged. I think war forged are more advanced. This is like living armor. Yeah, this says so. Hold on, let me go back to the thing. Objects come to life at your command. Turn on magical object. It's a. Each target animates and becomes a creature under your control. Yep.
2:10:21 OK, OK, cool. All right. Baxter fails his so we will move to top of the round and he will again choose Savara, Neros and Zebulon. I'll I need a difficulty 20 charisma saving throw please?
2:11:01 Charisma again? I thought you were going to say Wisdom. I'm not very charismatic, you guys. You get a plus D4 don't forget. Oh, I know. Wait till you hear. We got a dirty 20. 3020 will succeed. OK, Neros. Hey, hey, hit the button. Oh, right, right. Is a dirty 20. I got AI, got a 15. OK, Samara 8 Beautiful. All right, so again, the walls you see, just like last time, begin to ripple as this pages are turning in the.
2:11:42 For a moment, the room blinks and Savara and Neros vanish. I need you to take. Let's see here it's. 4D10. I'm sorry, 5D-10 27 psychic damage. Thank you. 10 pin points. And I'll take half that. Why psychic? Because. I'm resistant to psychic. Yep, rounded down right. It would be. It'd be rounded in your favor, so it'd be. Yeah, 13, yeah. 13 damage to you, so that would be 23 temporary.
2:12:31 Points How's your how's your health looking? I'm at 97 but my temp are 9. Oh shit, you're fine. Yeah, I, I I've gotten hit like once. Oh, I didn't update your guys's hit points, that's why I was like wait what? OK so you will have 9 temporary hit points left, OK. And then it will go to his turn. And he will use his Black Star Pulse 60 foot sphere centered on himself. I need everyone to give me an intelligent saving throw. I'm not a smart person.
2:13:36 Is the DC above 20? It is a 20. I don't think I can make that if I've got a -1 right? Would I bother rolling? If you if you not 20, I'll give it to you. All right, let's see. Nope. Nope. 19 Actually, that was close. Yikes, that was close. OK, so you will take. So everybody, Savara, what do you do wrong? 15. OK. And near us. 15.
2:14:22 OK, each be failing the save Yike yike doodle dandy, I'm sorry is everyone can you make me an intelligence save for Baxter as well please? Oh, sure, he's not a very bright creature either, I don't think, but we'll try. Sure he's got a -, 4 Yeah, again. I'll. Give it to you and I'm not he. Did get a 20. Oh, OK, so he'll take. A go let's. See. Good boy, all right. Smarter than us all. Well, all of you are going to take 62 force damage. Right. Oh well, I'm down then.
2:15:03 Yep, Zebulon's. Oh, wait. Well, no, you have your 10 people. Yeah. I've got like 3 health or something. You got more than that. Let's see, are you having? How much temp health did we have like 3030 thirty. 8 So you would have. OK, you have the target. And it's 66. Yep. So you would be at 24 health Zebulon. OK, I'll take it. Neros failed to save, so you'll take 62. Did he have to target me? It's not a target, it's a. It's an area of effect. SO20. Sweating is horseshit. Is horshit.
2:15:47 So I'll be sitting at. 22. 16 hit points. Oh, did I miss something? Oh yeah, yeah, you're I'll say. Yep, you're right. OK, Also, I'm going to need 10 additional saving throws for all the masks. Oh. Son of. A bitch. Do they have any? Intelligence. Yeah, they all fail. They all fail, OK? They're they're all going to die. Well, how many hit points do they have? 36 + 25. 25 would be 61. 61 two.
2:16:31 Yep. Son of a bitch, yeah. They will all go bye bye. OK. And then now explain to me the recharge that's at the beginning at the end of my turn, I can roll, see if I regain that ability in my next turn, correct? Recharge is after arrest, right? No, when it says like recharge 5-6 I think you roll AD 6 and. If. You get a 5 or a six, you can do it again, yeah. It does. It does not so OK. Good bitch. Cool, is it?
2:17:14 Personal. This is personal. Now that will be the end of its turn. Oh, I'm sorry, that was a Yep, that'll be the end of its turn. So then we will move to Neros. Give. Me a second explain. To.
2:17:57 Me how acid works. Typically acid hurts. No, absolutely fine. Thankful. Thank you. From a role play perspective, does it just do damage? Like a vial of acid. Yeah, I believe it's just kind of similar to like Baldy's so. I know what it does, raw rules is written right, but. Yeah. I think it like sticks on people and they have to scrape it off if they want to stop taking damage, right? OK. I don't see that in there. Are some acid effects that say that sort of thing? Yeah, it's here. So you're just going to throw an acid Violet at it, correct? Well. Not exactly.
2:18:38 OK, explain to me what you're going to do. That's never a good start. It's a bonus action to pull something out of a bag, yes. Yeah, we'll say that's fine. I'm just going to look it up just in case. Oh, it's often a free action. It's a free action that that's even better. Oh, but bonus action may be for a bag of holding. It says it's kind of DM rules.
2:19:18 Gotcha. Yeah, I would. That would make sense because in a bag of holding, you kind of have to search for it. OK, here's. What we're going to do, Which of you wants to live? And I look at Savara and Zebulon. I mean I would like to live so I can whack them with my rod and try paralyzed. I would also like to live, Perhaps I don't have the same resolve as she does. Yeah, she said it with intent. You were just like. How How are we positioned right now? Right now he's 5 feet behind me. He's 5 feet behind you, Zebulon is 20 feet from him, and Savara is 10 feet from you the other way. Baxter is standing right next to you. So that we're all within, like you're all pretty. 50 feet of you think I will say.
2:20:14 Yeah, Who is without, who's outside 20 feet of us of of like the the consolidated group, Zebulon. I would say Zebulon. Yep. OK. Zebulon's about 3030 feet away. That's how far I can move. I apologize Zebulon is 45 feet away because we agreed on 70 feet, 75 feet when he tell. Oh, there was a teleport, That's right. Hard to keep track of which way to run away from this guy. He just kind of pops up out of nowhere.
2:20:56 OK, here we go. I'm going to fly up, straight up over him. He'll get an attack of opportunity. Yes, he will. With disadvantage because of my cloak. Disadvantage with disadvantage. He rolled a 24. Tie goes to attacker or defender benefit player usually right.
2:21:37 Yeah, I say temp. Typically it's a tie goes to the player, tie goes to the runner. Yeah. OK, then I'm running. I go up, I don't know, 30 feet above him, right over his space. I have a fly speed of 50. OK. I'm going to quicken vortex warp. Fireball. OK, Vortex. And move, move. I don't even have to quicken it technically, because Zebulon's out of range. I can move. Do you want me to say Baxter or is it not worth it? Not worth it. All right. I won't quicken it and I'll just I'll quicken it anyway because then I have a full action left. I'll quicken vortex warp to move Savara. Hold on.
2:22:27 Come on now, go away. How far can I move you? An unoccupied space of your choice that you can see within range. Right next to Zebulon. Range is 90 feet. Now you can resist it if you want, but I'm gonna say resist this. No, I would pop up next to Zebulon, go hey bud, how do you feel? And then, Spencer, you made a mistake a long time ago, and I remembered just now. Hang on. So are you also targeting the creature or you were just getting all the everybody out?
2:23:09 I'm just. Yeah, I only talked. The only person I targeted so far was Sabara, and then I'm going to empty the contents of my bag of holding, which currently has 100 vials of acid. That would be 200 V6 damage. Oh my. God, what? I rolled it already. Do I want to know what it is? It's over 700. OK, how do you want to do this?
2:23:50 I mean, you narrate this one because this is this is like a Hellfire. OK, so I'll suppose I'll start and you can you can add on. So Nero's, with 716 hit points left, bloody beaten, but not no bruising to his ego because he doesn't really have one, Makes the decision to store to the sky, invoking an attack of opportunity, which with the assistance of his Cloak of Displacement, he's able to shift just slightly to the side, having it glance through his actual cloak. But he escapes unharmed, flies up and hovers above with unnatural speed.
2:24:42 He speaks his incantation and a black hole of sorts kind of forms around Savara, and another one appears right next to Zebulon, moving her from the location she was to 45 feet in a different direction. Miros then from his belt grabbed his bag, which of course appears like a normal bag and says I was saving this for a rainy day and it looks like today's the day it's going to rain Hellfire and he opens it up and 100 vials of acid go right all over. Now that assumes they all hit, but that. Area of effect thing, right?
2:25:32 Yeah. An area of effect, yeah. So each each bio is 2D6 acid damage. So that was 200 D six. Yeah. Oh, boy. OK. Yeah. So as the acid violence has come raining down like a missile strike, you hear the shrieks of, of of the archivist just melting with this acid. You hear the sound of paper being torn as if multiple hundreds of thousands of millions of pages of of of of a book were being torn out. And you just hear this constantly as the rain of Hellfire comes down on this creature. Before we go any further, I need to step out of narrative for just a moment because I need to explain what's about to happen. You are going to have a certain amount of real world time to escape because effectively what is going to happen as he's taking this vial is the final blow lands. The light spills from his wound, not blood, but words, just raining and just bleeding from his body. They pour from the archivist in a torrent of broken language, glowing letters dissolving into the air. He falls to one knee.
2:26:50 His body folds inward as if it were folding on itself, over and over, collapsing in itself like a book closing of the last read, unread chapter. Every tone and orbit halts mid spin, and for a heartbeat the vault is quiet. And then you realize that you're hearing. Not silence, but the vault itself is breathing and the ground vibrates under your feet. The runes and the wall begin to turn bright white hot, then red, then black as ink bleeds from the seams of reality. Every word, every name, every record this place ever held is beginning to unravel. I am going to put 10 minutes on the clock.
2:27:33 If you have not escaped this chamber in this this area by then, you will die. So once I finish narrating what's going to go on, I'm going to hit the timer. What's going to happen from there is you'll need to decide how you're going to get out based on how you decide you're going to get out. I'm going to ask for a number of ability checks from there. We'll we. Have to get the key or anything. It that was part of your mission. So at this point the key is about 65 feet away from where Neros is standing right now.
2:28:14 So gravity slips. The floor starts to tilt. Every word, every name, every record this place has ever held begins to unravel as the Archivist begins to almost implode on itself. From there, let's see here. I'll need what, 6000 seconds on the clock? From there we will say go. Whoops, hold on, that's wrong. Hold on. What is 600 seconds? I'm an idiot. Go. How far away are Zebulon and I from to the exit? So Zvara, you are the closest at what did I say 65 feet?
2:28:57 You are 55 feet in the. Key. OK. Unless you got a. Unless you got a plan otherwise I have one. Nope. I listen to near us I. Make sure we get the key. A vortex warp twice, once to the key, grab it once back right next to Zebulon and Savira and I'll say, don't you have teleportation circle? I need a level 5 spell slot for it. I We don't have time for a short rest. How long does the court rest? 15 minutes, you prick. You did that on purpose. No, I didn't. Actually. No, I didn't.
2:29:39 We got to run dude, so well, if unless everybody else has got something, I'm going. OK. Because that's all I got, OK. So as you begin to run, the floor itself begins to fracture itself into fragments of the floor, and the floor begins to fall in of itself. I will need. Anybody have like shapes stone or move water whatever? I will need acrobatics or athletics from. Everyone. Do you still get that D4? Yeah.
2:30:22 Bonus action mirror step. I can teleport to a reflection. Can I use that to get to the other side of this? So real quick as the as the floor begins to crumble, you hear from the other side of the of the corridor of which you came in. You hear Osisa Opal arriving just in time. You're just here, Safara. Fucking get out. So. Was it in athletics, by the way? So real quick, yes, real quick.
2:31:06 Before we go any further, I will need Athletics or Acrobatics from all of you, including 29. OK, 29 for Savara. I got a + 7 for acrobatics, that bodes well and we rolled a 15 that. Will succeed heroes? Acrobatics, you said? Acrobatics or athletics? Or acrobatics. Oh no, I'm flying. You might still have to dodge this. Yep. A year? What am I dodging? Everything is imploding as pages of pages of paper and ink and quills and everything that is on the walls beginning to start floating and being sucked into the implosion of the archimist. A10.
2:32:06 Nope. A 12 Wait. Oh, that's not what I wanted to do. Can. I talk Neros through how to expand the spell slot for teleportation circle. I draw the circle and write everything. Tell him the words. Do we just need a? Do we need a short rest? Do you need a short rest to do it? Yeah, I need 15 minutes. Oh no, I can get AI can get a short rest. If I can get a short rest, I can get. I know the. Catnap. Mercenary points through blood well vial and then I can get the spell slot back. The catnap spell gives everybody the benefit of a short rest. That would do it, I think.
2:32:51 How long does that take? Spencer, do you still need the acrobatics? Check the numbers for that. Yes, from from you. Correct. OK, Yeah. That's a 20. OK, so real quick, who rolled under a 20? I did. Jesse and I believe. My name's Nero's. And I think Abulon did too, didn't you? No, I got like a 23. Oh. Nevermind. Tomorrow I suggest Nero's will take 4. Let's see, you're 4D6 force damage let.
2:33:33 Me. Roll that. Does that. Temp does. The aura come back every. Turn. Yes it does. OK. So 15 damage to you. Hold on, I have to add my temp HP 36. You all have 36 again too. Yeah, Yeah. But then. But then it's gone. At this by this point, I'm thinking how much damage did I take? 1616, Yep. 1216 force damage. Yeah. How far away is Elsisa? It's.
2:34:15 About 80 feet away as a right now. I will vortex warper to us. Hey, would you do that? If we die, we die together. OK. So Osisa will. Out of memory, that's the last third level slot definitely. So I mean you would need to make a constitution statement to resist. You can fail it willingly. I'll. Fail willingly. OK, so you'll appear right, right next to Neros and Zebulon Savara. He said something about a cat now.
2:35:01 I think there's a better idea. We'll save that for the last the last possible thing. What's your timer at? 3 minutes and 30 seconds. I think we should go now. Yes, please. All right, so I'm going to win walk. I'm going to use my prayer beads for this and that's going to be they all turn to gas within one minute and then we'll have a 300 feet flying speed in gaseous form and that'll be blah blah blah.
2:35:42 What is it? Resistance to damage from non magical weapons. OK. And do things pass through us? I can't remember how that works. I believe so, yes. I would. I would think so. I mean. We're gas. Yeah. We're both fart in the wind. Yeah. Exactly. OK, Yeah. I mean you can go ahead and make a make your way. You've got 2 minutes, 30 seconds. That's. 100 feet a second because we're all using bash the actions. Yep.
2:36:23 OK, so you will all get to the outside of the of the vault itself. Do you drop your form? No. No, no, no, I'm going to move far away. I want to get across that bridge OK at. Least Yep. Yeah, I want to go home. The only thing I will need as you reach outside, a storm of wind and hail is centered around this vault. I'm going to need one. I'm going to call it a Dexterity saving throw to not be affected by the wind. Oh oh.
2:37:20 I haven't I'm going to re roll this. OK, I know I failed. It was not a Nat 1, so you know. But I know you said a deck saving throw. Dexterity saving throw. 22 Roll the 19. I am using my. What's it called? I have. 25. 60 seconds, What's it called? My relived fortune which lets me re roll OK did I know what the DC is DC of? 20.
2:38:02 I rolled in at 20 all. Right, thank fuck. You are able to resist the wind as you cross the ice bridge and out of the area of the Vault of the Black Star and and you are able to successfully clear. Well, I didn't think you were going to do it. You're able to successfully clear the Vault of the Black Star Adam. Let's go ahead and and simulation. Simulation complete mission record.
