This Conversations with Nicole is so important! Please listen to Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaver and Retired Army Major General Jim Coggin.

Like many communities, Georgetown County, South Carolina is facing an opioid and fentanyl crisis. Georgetown County Sheriff Carte Weaver is hosting two forums that will explore the problem as it exists right now, with real numbers, and an in-depth look at local addiction.

The Sheriff’s Community Forums are on October 11 at Pawleys Island Community Church and on October 13 at First Baptist Church of Georgetown. It will be a panel discussion featuring the Sheriff, recent American Medical Association President Dr. Gerald Harmon, Georgetown County School District Superintendent Keith Price, representatives from the South Carolina Law

Enforcement Division, and Department of Health and Environmental Control, and other experts on the current epidemic within our borders. In addition to acknowledging and addressing the problem is remediation. Retired Army Major General Jim Coggin is working with the GCSO to address substance abuse in Georgetown County and develop ways to help substance abusers. Current initiatives include a spiritual-based mentorship program to transform those who need help from addiction to discipleship, along with a “center of excellence” offering

a holistic approach to addiction. To learn more about the upcoming forums or to get involved in this initiative visit www.gcsheriff.org. #conversationswithnicole #casuallyspeaking #georgetowncounty #stopsubstanceabuse #remediation
