Jennifer Caniro was found on the stairs leading from the basement to the first floor, shot in the head, stabbed multiple times, extensive charring from the fire that was set in the basement closet just feet from where she fell. Her cause of death blood loss from the gunshot and stab wounds.

Doctor Lauren Toma, Deputy Chief Medical Examiner, described eleven year old Jesse's injuries stab wounds to his torso and left arm, an injury to his chin that bore similarity to a gunshot wound, though she wasn't comfortable documenting it definitively as one. Visible soot in his airway. Carbon monoxide screening confirmed smoke inhalation as a contributing factor in his death. The main cause stab wounds. Jesse was stabbed left bleeding in the kitchen the fire was set, and while the fire burned slowly through the basement and up through the house, Jesse Caniro, eleven years old, already wounded, was trying to crawl to the front door. The blood trail proves it. He died at the base of the kitchen island. The fire eventually reached him and finally eight year old Sophia junk Ti testified that Sophia's entire forty five pound body suffered injuries seventeen stab wounds, including to her face. Her right leg showed wounds consistent with defensive injuries.

15:11 An eight year old girl was fighting back against her killer, trying to protect herself, using her legs and arms to ward off a knife. A blood stained purple shirt the child had been wearing was briefly shown to the jury between photos of the actual stab wounds. Paul Canaro was seen wiping his eyes a box of tissues next to him. At the defense table. Sophia's carbon monoxide screening showed forty nine percent. Jong testified that forty percent is enough to die from smoke inhalation alone. Her official cause of death sharp force injuries and smoke inhalation. She was stabbed seventeen times, then left in a burning house. The fire was a contributing factor because she was still alive when it was set.

She had no idea what she was walking into, didn't know about the scam, didn't know about the threats. Just doing her job, pick up a package, drive it somewhere, earn a fair. Dashcam footage from her vehicle captured what happened next. When toland Hall arrived, Brock was standing outside with a point two two caliber revolver pointed it at her. He demanded to know who sent her. She didn't understand the question. She was there for a package. What package? The uber app told her to come here pick something up. That's all she knew. Brock took her phone, prevented her from leaving.

18:55 The scammers had told him someone was coming to take his money, and here she was. In his mind, this was the threat. This was the person the caller warned about. A struggle broke out. Brock shot toland Hall. First shot hit her upper left torso she tried to flee back to her vehicle. Brock kept shooting, hit her in the left thigh, inside her left knee, center of her sternum, at least three shots total. The dash cam audio captured her screams. Brock threatened to shoot the other leg. Brock claimed toland Hall attacked him after the first shot, said she slammed his head into her car door, said he shot her again. Because he believed she was going to retrieve a weapon of her own. But here's the reality.

19:40 Low Letha toland Hall was defenseless, made no demands, only asked about the package she was supposed to pick up. She was an unwitting victim of the same scam that was targeting Brock. She was rushed to the hospital died during surgery. Brock told deputies, without being asked, that toland Hall was there to take his money and that he didn't want to shoot her, but he thought she was going to kill him. A jury convicted Brock on all charges felony murder, felonious assault, kidnapping. His self defense claim fell apart because the evidence showed toland Hall presented no harm or immediate danger. Clark County Assistant Prosecutor Cadanni Scott told the court objectively, a reasonable person would not shoot a defenseless woman multiple times to protect themselves from words of a scammer. Monday, Clark County Common Please Judge Douglas Rastadter sentenced Brock fifteen years to life for murder, six additional years for firearms specifications served consecutively, twenty one years to life total. William Brock is eighty three years old.

The scammers who orchestrated this have never been caught, the prosecutor said it plainly. The really sad part about this is that we know that the scammers, the folks who started this, haven't been brought to justice.

Somewhere, the people who made those calls are still free, still scamming, still targeting elderly victims, still potentially setting up scenarios where innocent people die.
