Jury watched body camera footage of the arrest officers approaching the vehicle, Duran cooperative, opening the door as instructed, Both girls secured safe. Then the evidence got technical. New Hampshire State Police intelligence analyst Tracy Flaherty testified about cell phone data showed Duran's movements after the shooting. If it was truly self defense, if his daughter was genuinely in danger and he saved her life, why run? Why trigger an amber alert? Why make police think you kidnapped your own children. Self defense means you feared imminent harm, you used reasonable force to stop that harm, and you immediately reported to authorities. You don't flee one hundred seventy miles with the kids and get arrested at an Applebee's the next day. Prosecution argues Dustin's actions after the shooting prove consciousness of guilt. He knew he'd murdered Caitlin, knew he'd face consequences, so he ran, took the girls to prevent them from being taken by child services, tried to disappear. Defense argues Dustin was in shock, PTSD kicked in, he panicked, made bad decisions in the aftermath, but the initial shooting was justified. Jury will have to decide which version they believe.
