This book is actually one in a series of books by the author M. Scott Peck. The book we will explore today is the first and the most influential one in his series. The title is âThe Road Less Traveled: A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values and Spiritual Growthâ.
We have all felt this way before. When we were kids faced with piles of homework, we always wanted to grow up quickly. We believed that when we grow up, we would finally be able to control our own destinies. However, when we enter the workforce after graduation, we find that we have to work endless hours in order to pay endless bills. We continue to believe that it will eventually become easier. By the time we are middle-aged, we have to take care of both the old and the young people in our lives. We struggle to keep a balance between family and work and feel exhausted every day. We want to retire early and enjoy life. Come retirement, we find that our physical condition is not as good as before, and we become regular visitors at the hospital. When looking back on our lives, we might agree with M. Scott Peckâs first sentence in âThe Road Less Traveledâ, which is: life is difficult.
Faced with a difficult life, what kind of mentality should we have in order to live a good life? The book âThe Road Less Traveled: A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values and Spiritual Growthâ will give you the answer: confront life head on, and gain spiritual growth out from it.
