Why do humans age? How do we live younger for longer? The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2009 was awarded jointly to three scientists who have contributed to exploring the field of aging, including Elizabeth Blackburn, one of the authors of this book. Using evidence from a wealth of research, the book explains how we’re aging at a microcellular level and reveals the secrets of how the environment affects the speed of human aging. It then provides readers with advice on diet, sleep, sports and tips on how to change our way of thinking to help us slow down aging and be more energetic.

The Telemore Effect was authored by Elizabeth Blackburn and Elissa Epel. Blackburn is a Nobel laureate, a molecular biologist, and an honorary professor at the University of California, San Francisco. In 2009, she was jointly awarded The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with two other scientists for their discovery on “how chromosomes are protected by telomeres and the enzyme telomerase”. She was listed as one of Time Magazine’s Time 100: The Most Influential People in the World. Epel is a professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a psychologist who specializes in emotional stress, aging, and morbid obesity.
