For the third video in the "Why Community Matters" video series, I talk with JUNO CEO Josh Hotsenpiller about the need for personal value in a community.
Eventually, maybe sooner rather than later, a community member will want to know, "what's in it for me?" The harder that question is to answer, the less likely that community member will stay.
If you want your community to function well and thrive, you need your members to know that the rewards for belonging to your community outweigh the requirements made of them.
Quick List of Highlights:
[00:00] Introduction
[00:37] Josh Hotsenpiller on why the "what's in it for me?" is so important for folks.
[01:11] "They should be able to go, 'If I invest my time, talent, energy, all these things...what am I getting for it?"
[01:35] “Our job as leaders is to constantly be communicating and demonstrating the reward for the investment...”
[01:54] Ask yourself, "do the rewards outweigh the requirements?"
