Good News for a Toucan stuck.....behind a dishwasher?

Good News for a Toucan stuck.....behind a dishwasher?

Divers off Vancouver Island had a humorous encounter with a giant Pacific Octopus that took a selfie with their camera. A study in England shows that nitrate-rich beetroot juice may help lower blood pressure in older adults. Frefighters rescued a pet toucan named Chester after it got stuck behind a dishwasher. Guinness is celebrating its 70th anniversary by challenging the public to attempt 70 unclaimed world records. Lastly, the nonprofit 'Longer Tables' created a mile-long table to promote community and shared meals, highlighting their mission to foster connection and belonging.

1
00:00:03.160 --> 00:00:10.679
Callaroga shark media boy. This show's fun to do. Hi,

2
00:00:10.759 --> 00:00:14.039
I'm Johnny Mack with five good news stories. Some divers

3
00:00:14.560 --> 00:00:17.679
had some fun with an octopus. The octopus came out

4
00:00:17.760 --> 00:00:20.839
and took a selfie with them. Yeah. Chris was diving

5
00:00:20.960 --> 00:00:24.480
off Vancouver Island with his friend John. They ran into

6
00:00:24.519 --> 00:00:29.160
a giant Pacific octopus. The octopus stretched out its arms

7
00:00:29.440 --> 00:00:32.920
and grabbed John's camera. John told CBC was carrying around

8
00:00:32.920 --> 00:00:35.280
my camera for about five minutes that suddenly was jumping

9
00:00:35.320 --> 00:00:38.119
over to give Chris a big hug. Chris said, we

10
00:00:38.159 --> 00:00:39.920
originally saw it on our way out. We passed at

11
00:00:39.960 --> 00:00:41.640
the beginning to dive. Took a couple of pictures when

12
00:00:41.640 --> 00:00:43.799
it was underneath the rock. Half an hour later we

13
00:00:43.880 --> 00:00:46.079
passed back on the way home. It stretches quite far

14
00:00:46.200 --> 00:00:47.960
from where it was to grab hold of the camera.

15
00:00:48.079 --> 00:00:49.439
It really went out of its way to get a

16
00:00:49.439 --> 00:00:52.079
hold of John and his camera. I like to give

17
00:00:52.159 --> 00:00:54.000
him space, but as I tried to swim away, it

18
00:00:54.159 --> 00:00:57.000
dropped the camera and started moving towards where I was going,

19
00:00:57.039 --> 00:01:00.200
effectively following me. It briefly stopped to interact with another octopus,

20
00:01:00.560 --> 00:01:02.159
then saw me up high or filming it and it

21
00:01:02.200 --> 00:01:03.799
made a bline right for me and jumped on me.

22
00:01:03.920 --> 00:01:06.799
Next Chris said it was wild, it was crazy. What

23
00:01:06.840 --> 00:01:09.200
was going on? John says, Chris has some great photos

24
00:01:09.200 --> 00:01:11.640
of it actually holding the camera and aiming it towards

25
00:01:11.680 --> 00:01:15.560
the wall. That's great. Do you like beetroot juice? Maybe

26
00:01:15.599 --> 00:01:19.319
you should. Apparently the blood pressure lowering effect of nitrate

27
00:01:19.439 --> 00:01:22.920
rich beetroot juice in older people may have something to

28
00:01:22.959 --> 00:01:27.400
do with changes in the oral microbiome. Researchers in England

29
00:01:27.480 --> 00:01:30.879
conducted the study. It followed previous research that had shown

30
00:01:30.920 --> 00:01:34.840
a high nitrate diet could reduce blood pressure, which could

31
00:01:34.959 --> 00:01:38.319
reduce the risk of heart disease. Professor An E. Vanhaldo

32
00:01:38.400 --> 00:01:42.000
said encouraging older adults to consume more nitrate rich vegetables

33
00:01:42.359 --> 00:01:45.239
could have significant long term health benefits. We know that

34
00:01:45.280 --> 00:01:47.799
a nitrate rich diet has health benefits, and older people

35
00:01:47.840 --> 00:01:50.200
produce less of their own nitric oxide as they age.

36
00:01:50.239 --> 00:01:52.239
The good news is if you don't like beetroot, you

37
00:01:52.239 --> 00:01:56.640
could try spinach, celery, or kale. What if I don't

38
00:01:56.680 --> 00:01:59.200
like any of those? I mean, celery is okay, but

39
00:01:59.599 --> 00:02:01.560
I'm only to have cellary if I also have twelve

40
00:02:01.599 --> 00:02:04.519
buffalo wings and two beers. Not sure that's the healthiest

41
00:02:04.560 --> 00:02:07.480
diet there. Scientists get back to me. Rough day for

42
00:02:07.560 --> 00:02:11.240
a twu can, a woman's pet Tucan fell into the

43
00:02:11.280 --> 00:02:15.039
toilet and they had to call in the firefighters. Maria said,

44
00:02:15.080 --> 00:02:17.439
the two can plopped in. He freaked out. I freaked out.

45
00:02:17.479 --> 00:02:19.719
I picked him up, I scooped him, brought him to

46
00:02:19.719 --> 00:02:21.680
the sink and started rinsing him off to make sure

47
00:02:21.680 --> 00:02:24.879
he was clean. Apparently, the two can is not fond

48
00:02:24.919 --> 00:02:27.960
of forced bats and fled the sink before the two

49
00:02:28.039 --> 00:02:30.919
can could be dried off. Maria says, next thing I know,

50
00:02:30.960 --> 00:02:33.159
I'm like, where did Chester the two can go? He

51
00:02:33.199 --> 00:02:35.879
disappeared in the thin air. Poor Chester got stuck behind

52
00:02:35.919 --> 00:02:40.000
the dishwasher. She couldn't reach Chester. The two Can called

53
00:02:40.000 --> 00:02:42.960
the fire department. Jake showed up. He's been on the

54
00:02:43.199 --> 00:02:45.439
fire department for nineteen years, and he said the situation

55
00:02:45.560 --> 00:02:47.680
was first for him. He said, see all these comments

56
00:02:47.719 --> 00:02:50.960
about them taking us away from service. Jake says, this

57
00:02:51.039 --> 00:02:52.840
is our job. This is what we do. We help

58
00:02:52.879 --> 00:02:55.319
people and will also help birds whenever we have to.

59
00:02:55.800 --> 00:02:59.159
All Right, it's not only trope time, it's meta trope time.

60
00:02:59.520 --> 00:03:04.319
Guinness celebrating its seventieth anniversary by challenging fans to attempt

61
00:03:04.439 --> 00:03:08.199
seventy unclaimed records. I see what you're doing here the

62
00:03:08.319 --> 00:03:10.479
unclaimed records. Okay, you want to be in the Guinness

63
00:03:10.479 --> 00:03:12.360
Book of World Records. Here are some of the records

64
00:03:12.360 --> 00:03:16.080
that are unclaimed. Fastest four hundred meters sack race. I

65
00:03:16.080 --> 00:03:18.919
feel like you could do that one farthest distance to

66
00:03:18.960 --> 00:03:21.080
bounce a coin into a cup. Now again, if no

67
00:03:21.080 --> 00:03:23.280
one's claimed the record, you could just do like one

68
00:03:23.840 --> 00:03:26.240
coin bounce and you could be the record holder for

69
00:03:26.280 --> 00:03:28.280
about a week until somebody steals your record. But why

70
00:03:28.280 --> 00:03:32.400
not the farthest distance, bottle flip, most high fives and

71
00:03:32.439 --> 00:03:35.240
thirty seconds. Again, the record's unclaimed, I'm gonna claim it

72
00:03:35.240 --> 00:03:38.479
and do one. Fastest time to build a five story

73
00:03:38.479 --> 00:03:41.599
playing card pyramid, fastest time to make a burrito, the

74
00:03:41.639 --> 00:03:44.319
fastest time to arrange a set of scrabbled titles in

75
00:03:44.360 --> 00:03:49.159
alphabetical order. The editor of Guinness World Records said, we're

76
00:03:49.159 --> 00:03:51.919
now looking forward and celebrating the current and next generation

77
00:03:52.080 --> 00:03:54.240
of record breakers. We want everyone to be part of it,

78
00:03:54.280 --> 00:03:57.319
whether that's using our new record selector tool or having

79
00:03:57.319 --> 00:03:59.800
a go at one of our seventy unclaimed records there

80
00:04:00.080 --> 00:04:03.240
for the taking, and can you pass the salt please.

81
00:04:03.800 --> 00:04:07.039
Longer Tables is a nonprofit that believes in the power

82
00:04:07.080 --> 00:04:10.800
of shared meals. They welcomed thirty four hundred local people

83
00:04:11.039 --> 00:04:13.080
who signed up to sit down at the first ever

84
00:04:13.199 --> 00:04:17.399
quote mile long table, hence my joke about passing the salt.

85
00:04:18.000 --> 00:04:20.800
The table fifty two hundred and eighty feet long, that

86
00:04:20.959 --> 00:04:23.959
is indeed a mile. Hundreds of volunteers set up and

87
00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:27.040
serve the guests at the mile long table. Longer Table

88
00:04:27.079 --> 00:04:29.879
began its mission of promoting shared meals in twenty thirteen.

89
00:04:30.040 --> 00:04:32.079
They have since hosted more than one hundred gatherings in

90
00:04:32.120 --> 00:04:35.639
five states to help cities, organizations, businesses, and neighborhoods, creek

91
00:04:35.680 --> 00:04:38.639
cultures of connection and belonging. That sounds like it was

92
00:04:38.639 --> 00:04:41.360
a lot of fun. More info at Longer Tables dot org.
